It's a really good game, still, but there's a reason veteran players like Saur leaned more to W101 and even Transformers: Devastation for Platinum-action that allowed for better player expression.

See, I love Bayo 2 more for these reasons. I felt I got the same great flashy action with combos BUT it was more accessible, which was a huge PLUS for me. That, and love how much more over the top and hilarious Bayo 2 is.

I know, and that’s what I had assumed of Lappy at first too, but the Homunculi have me thinking there may be more to it than that now…

Doesn’t help that I thought that Viola was the Astral Chain protagonist / Akira Howard at first before they showed her face in the trailer, ‘cause the voice sounded very similar to what I remember female Akira sounding like, lol.

But also…if this game is a collaboration of sorts with Astral Chain, that might further explain why Nintendo seems to have acquired the rights for the game from PlatinumGames out of the blue years after the game’s release… Not that they would have needed to or anything, but since we already know there aren’t Nintendo costumes in Bayonetta 3 like in 1 and 2, maybe Astral Chain’s involvement took the place of that.

Hi, I'm mistertheman and Platinum put in the toggle specifically for me 😬. I find the entire "her hair is her clothing and also her weapon so if you fight well you get to see her bum!" annoyingly pandering, and it's one of the things that kept me from trying the games.

I’m very pro sexuality and see nothing wrong with sexuality or super sexuality in games and will be playing it as intended BUT it makes it easier for us older folk play when the kids are around lol so that’s cool!
 
This trailer is all over the place and weird and exciting ... and I love it. I love it so much.
October is going to tear my wallet a new one, though.
 
Well that's one hell of a difference from it's reveal.

Scale looks set to massive, with a lot of attention and focus put on shoring it up to look good and presentable when playing the on foot human scale, but flipping effortlessly, instantly to Kaiju scale, which seems to be it's native state. Character models look really good.

Like a lot of games this gen, a large amount of environmental interaction and freedom of movement. Another game not stuck on the ground, or designated interact areas.

And that's fine!

Again, the idea is just to convey that there is more to the discourse behind Bayo2 completely separate from oft thinly-veiled console drama.

Like I could go on and on about such things like Umbra Climax distills the combat to a very basic loop for 99% of the enemy encounters, due to how enemies on higher levels can just parry/jump out of combos whenever they feel like it, and thus, significantly lowers my enjoyment of the combat system.

The focus on summons this time around giving off a lot of the same vibes from Climax is the ONLY reason I'm keeping my hype on a leash. I really, really wish they would just give us a full, uninterrupted (beside cutscene skips) five minute segment of the gameplay.

At the first cutscenes I was a bit disappointed by how NY looked, but when it shifted to gameplay it was glorious!!
BAYOVERSE!!! Multiple badass Bayonettas is great.
VIOLA LOOKS SO GORGEOUS IT HURTS, MY NON BINARY RADAR JUST SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THAT ANDROGYNOUS DIVA!!
There seems to be some good references to Astral Chain and sci fi anime so it's just my jam!!!
Can't wait to play it!!

My initial thought was that this was mde for "streamer mode"
 
It seems to be a globe trotting (or rather dimension) adventure, they really seem to be going all out story wise.

The gameplay doesn't seem to have that many new creative ideas, hopefully that means it will be really polished. The fact that the new demon masquerade seems to have its own bar, that its scoring is different from wicked weaves (In bayo 2 they were the same) and the fact that is quite literally devil trigger are good omens. I still feel they have shown so little of gameplay though!! the trailer seems to have really good reception so what do i know.

Yeah if the first print with the JPN Bayonetta 2 Collectors Edition is anything to go by. For that the current rate is $100-200+ whenever someone posts on eBay at least.

I had my copy from back then. Mostly because of the physical Bayonetta 1 and the decision for it to be mainly a digital version everywhere else

I love that they added a lot to the formula, with New gameplay ideas and New characters. I give them the benefit of the doubt, cause it seems they had all the time they wanted to make a damn good game and accomplish what they wanted to do.

Just ordered the trinity edition, slightly concerned that they haven't sent me an email order confirmation yet though.

Yup, I’m not wise but I can see someone who is. Bayo2 is one of the best games ever. I really don’t understand how people don’t talk about it more tenderly on the internet. The Wii U was really a shit system which made people hate every exclusive there…

On one hand, more options are good. But I can’t shake the feeling, that things like the Naive Angel mode are undermining the very sex positive attitude of Bayonetta in a certain way. Well, it’s on the development team to decide what to do in this situation.
 
As per a person on another musician related forum, allegedly a Treehouse has been filmed for Bayo 3 last month. The Bayonetta we see is in fact Cereza, but OG Bayo is in the game as well. IDK how reliable they are but they know stuff, because of their position as a mod on ANOTHER Nintendo related forum

Choice does not undermine, it includes.

There is more to sexy, and sex positivity, than taking off clothes, or showing skin.

Always important to me and I'll mention it for anyone else who cares: it looks like the North American version of the Trinity Masquerade Edition will feature a hardcover artbook while the PAL and JP version will feature a softcover artbook (based on the promotional images). That's pretty much been the norm for a couple of years now. So if you're into your hardcovers, plan accordingly.

While I agree the Wii U release was perhaps why it dis get overlooked, ultimately a lot of the discourse around Bayon 2 just comes down to console wars rubbish. Even ten years later people have sticks up their backsides because Nintendo had the 'audacity' to rescue the game from never being published. There's a very small subset of gamers who just point blank refuse to play games on Nintendo systems, regardless of what game it is, regardless of whether their systems sell squillions or a pittance. And when Nintendo gets an exclusive they want, whoooo boy do they moan.

The naive angel mode ist obviously another in-game joke and not really a way to get more people playing the game. It was probably very easy to implement.

People who are offended or upset about a naked woman who owns her sexuality, will probably not play such games anyway. There is a very small subsequent of people who get triggered when seeing naked skin, for whatever reason, and it is good that these can enjoy Bayonetta 3 too.

I mean for example Xenoblade 2 with it softporn scenes obviously wanted to arouse the audience (sometimes with borderline pedophile scenes), but Bayonetta has a much more mature (and ironic) approach to sexualisation.
 
At minute 2:00 you can clearly see that the game uses dynamic resolution. The HUD looks crisp but the actual scene is very blurry. Let’s see how often and how much the resolution drops.
But overall a very pretty game

The "Naïve Angel Mode" seems kind of pointless unless it turns off the blood, swearing, suggestive language, and camera zoom-ins on crotches as well, but it's an option I guess lol?
 
i played both games well after they came out (in 2019 on switch), and imo 2 is the weaker game. it might be flashier and more fun on the first playthrough, but it's not as fun and deep as the original on replays. both games are still amazing tho.

One is intent on and operates on the premise of exclusion, where one group is desired to be discriminated against, the other does not, and both groups can have what they want, and no one is left out.

There is only, and exactly, one reason there would ever be a desire, or an attempt to push the former, over, the latter, no matter what gilded excuses are contrived.

Exclusion.
 
Bayonetta 1 still holds up. At the time it amazed me more than the sequel. Not sure which one is the better game though.
