So, "same as it ever was", in a nutshell.Btw was this posted?
PlatinumGames believes it "can definitely build an even stronger relationship with Nintendo moving forward"
According to PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba, the company “can definitely build an even stronger relationship with Nintendo moving forward.” His comments came about while discussing Yakao Yamane having joined the company as its new vice president and CBO. Before becoming a part of PlatinumGames...nintendoeverything.com
To be honest, I don't see it. Not only because P* isn't interested in selling anything, but also because Nintendo likely doesn't see the need for such.I can see Nintendo getting a stake in that company soon. Not a full acquisition, though I do feel like Platinum is actually a company that can benefit from one.
Because their contract work for Nintendo is only one slice of their work, and they're floundering everywhere else. Sooner or later the hits won't afford the misses. So, "same as it ever was", in a nutshell.
You had to figure this was going to be one of P*'s main paths going forward as it was, and Nintendo's own Yakao Yamane moving over to P* (as noted in the article) is only going to make that more so. Bayo3 should be a nice reminder of what happens when the two parties get together, and Astral Chain 2 will probably be something launching on the Switch's successor, I'd imagine.
Kamiya-directed StarFox when?

If you're in Nintendo's place: Why buy, or buy out, when P* keeps coming back to you for work on a regular basis in between other stuff they're doing? You even got one of your own over there as basically as an "inside man", now, no less.
If PlatinumGames ever explicitly starts saying they're shopping around for a buyer, then maybe Nintendo might have to fend off some one like Tencent for the right to put a ring on the finger. But until then...
For the time being, the risk to them is still minimal because the rest of their body of work has also been contract work. If stuff like their upcoming self-published work, "Project GG", also flubs? Then yeah, they would stand to be in serious trouble because there's nobody like a Sega, Nintendo, Microsoft or Square Enix to offset the costs in the case of failure.Because their contract work for Nintendo is only one slice of their work, and they're floundering everywhere else. will Nintendo bail them out if shit happens, though? we saw what happened to Alpha Dream, but Platinum is far more valuable than AD is
we are talking about Switch footage posted on the world wide web. It is either the biggest POS hardware or a Pro device. No in between. After watching that video, it shocks me that people thought that was the actual framerate. Did people not notice how uncharacteristically bad it was? Like 15fps cutscenes? Should've been the first hint something was wrong.
Seriously, people seem to ignore that it runs many great looking games incredibly well.we are talking about Switch footage posted on the world wide web. It is either the biggest POS hardware or a Pro device. No in between.
I love that platforming puzzle. Video shows off the extended exploration a little which is great to see.
Still, seems like Game Informer still hasn't got their act together. There is clearly a (framepacing?) problem with their video footage especially visible in the cutscenes.

There's also the notion that Kamiya and co. likely wanted to take a look back at DMC, because Demon Masquerade definitely looks like that next logical extension from Devil Trigger. The more I see demon masquerade, the more I'm convinced they looked at 2 and wanted to improve on wicked weaves climax moves.
I think that would be reasonable, but probably a bit jarring as well.I heard someone say the Kaiju fights cap the framerate to 30fps to keep it mostly stable.
