I'd be freaking out more about this, but there are way bigger issues happening right now, and also... Nintendo is actively releasing a bunch of ganes right now. Like I'm trying to budget to see how to afford them. Not gonna worry too much about the future when the present feels so gooood (games-wise, obviously. Everything else is bleak and dystopian).

Increasingly suspect Three Hopes isn't arriving today. Bummer.

Still suspect we're on for a regular Direct next week, though.

I wanted to see the new Fire Emblem but other than that I don't care too much if it's a mini. I mostly just wanted treehouses. If they don't, this would be the first year in a long time to not have a treehouse - even 2020 had them for Paper Mario and Age of Calamity.

I hope Nintendo delays the direct until late July so that I can watch it on my Steam Deck.

With the Xenoblade direct, I'm starting to suspect Nintendo may focus more on individual game directs this year. Maybe because they don't have much other new games to announce. So giving higher focus to existing games may be wiser.

It does suck no BotW 2 (I was already 50/50 on this), no Prime 4, no new Fire Emblem, no Pikmin 4.

It is what it is. Nintendo has their grand plan and this is what they feel is needed at this particular time.

A mini probably wouldn't be that bad. The 2018 January one with Hyrule Warriors, DK, Dark Souls, and Mario Tennis Aces was pretty damn good

Honestly I'm assuming at this point that the rumored/leaked games might be the only other new things they have coming in the next year.
(Metroid Prime 1 remake, Donkey Kong, Fire Emblem, some Zelda port). Maybe because there was no E3 this year they were comfortable announcing most of their games earlier.

Why is everyone so focused on branding? Can’t we all just wait until after the presentation to come here and complain and say nintendoomed like usual

Regardless of the direct and all that this was definitely one of Nintendo's best years, with stuff like Xenoblade, Splatoon, Mario Strikers, Switch sports, Pokemon Arceus/Pokemon Scarlet, etc. (and probably Zelda early next year). I'd say I'd put it behind 2017 and tied with 2019 personally.

Yeah, a mini would make sense:
-updates on already released games (Mario strikers, Switch Sports)
- dates for already announced games (M+R 2, Advance Wars, maaaaaybe Bayo 3)
-one single small announcement (MP Remake).

This Will suffice, waiting for a beefier Direct in September
Yeah this can still be a really good mini. I can see Zelda announced too like WWHD

I’ll wait to see how the full schedule ends. Right now it’s 2017, then 2019. This year can definitely compete with 2019

Basically where I stand. A new Fire Emblem and news on Mario + Rabbids 2 are my most wanted things for a Direct, and one of those is seemingly confirmed for next week regardless of what we get, and I'm not ready to discount a new FE even if we do get a Mini (the timing of the whole thing right after Three Hopes launched is still suspicious to me). BoTW2 news would be nice but we already know that's not releasing until early next year so I'm less concerned about that at the moment

A Treehouse for games like XC3, Scarlet/Violet, and the new FE would've been great but it seems like that's definitely out at this point, sadly.

It seems like this thread could do with a gentle reminder of best practices when posting about rumors and insiders to make the conversation welcoming and fun for everyone involved.

First and foremost, let's cut out the snarky and mean-spirited posts, please. There's a world of difference between "person X has been wrong in the past, so I don't necessarily have faith that what they've said will come to pass" and "oh, we're listening to person X? Cool, where's my Switch Pro / Metroid Prime Trilogy / etc?" Similarly, going through someone's history with a fine-toothed comb and talking about all of the times they've been wrong is overly targeted and does not lead to good discussion. You're allowed - encouraged, even - to have healthy skepticism regarding rumors and leaks. Just don't be a jerk about it.

On the other end, please be mindful not to let discussion of insiders completely dominate the conversation. To those less interested in that side of speculation, it can be annoying, boring, and even a little alienating. Stop begging for reassurance. Don't keep tagging individuals asking for new information. And don't act like those who are doubtful of rumors and insiders are stupid or ignorant. Everyone is entitled to form their own opinion on this subject.

Yeah!

"All our Switch games are cancelled and SMTV will be removed after the sale is over, thank you for your understanding, as a compensation we will port Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis for the GBA to the Nintendo Switch, the launch date will be announced later. Thank you for your understanding". The End.

The real question is what’s on NSO n64 roadmap 2? Especially third party wise since the first party lineup is slimming up(tho I’d say 1080, Excitebike, wave race, Mario party 2 or 3, Pokémon Puzzle league and Super smash bros are all likely).

Hopefully Snowboard kids would be sooner rather than later

I assumed we’d get the next lineup in a general direct. Now I’m not sure. Just drop it one day? Maybe it can be in a Mini?

I say, y’all given YouTubers and content creators a fair share of content for today lol.

By the way. Our forum has to be looked at by content creators? Right? Or nah?

Famiboards has already been mentioned and referenced dozens of times in online publications since we started last October

The direct next week will just be a re-run of the Xenoblade direct with a Mario + Rabbids teaser attached to the end
Hey what's a...Fifth? Watch of the Xenoblade Direct. Yeah I think I'm on 5. 'Course some of those were from analysis videos

Ok yeah I think I'd probably still be upset then, I don't need to watch that Direct again Or do I?

@NateDrake so uh like..

just, how are you doing dude?
everyone else is tagging you with questions so I figured I would too

I'm well. About to put the Yankees vs Astros on the radio. Have a drink and sit out on the patio while the sun is still up & enjoy a pleasant summer eve.

In regards to the Nintendo broadcast (general, partner, mini, or otherwise) that you’ve been alluding to (which I assume is separate from what Tom is talking about?)
The Direct is not Mario specific.

The real question is why would Nintendo only do a partner/mini direct?

They're not short of games to showcase, they're literally sitting on like 3 games right now that are basically finished, and that's just unannounced games. Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, Pokemon SV, Advance Wars, Mario Kart 8 DLC, Mario + Rabbids SoH, Zelda BotW2, the next wave of N64 games, one more Xenoblade reminder/trailer (which had the 4chan leak), Mario Strikers DLC, etc.

Then there's Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime HD, (if they dare do it) Everybody 12 Switch, 3rd party games, indie games. potentially Grezzo's game, or if they're ballsy, MP4. They're not struggling to fill a release schedule or have nothing to talk about. It makes no sense to only have a mini or partner direct unless they're storing up for a big showcase later this year to coincide with the Switch 2/Pro.

What is everyone's thoughts about this? And no, I don't want to hear "because it's Nintendo and they do what they want".

Normally I would root for anyone playing the Astros, but the Yankees have a real shot at breaking 116 wins. As a mariners fan, that’s like the only thing I can cling too, so can’t have another team take that from us.

I will be making fresh piña coladas and prepping my own syrups (and experimenting with super juices) for an upcoming vacation.

Exactly, that's what's baffling to me. It really doesn't seem like we're in 2020-like waters even in the slightest. If it's indeed a mini, then it's part of a marketing strategy, not related to a lack of games releasing in the near future.
