Didn’t wanna sound rude, it’s alright!
Yeah the speculation part definitely is strong this past few days. But I guess people are just really hungry rn!
It’s direct season what’s the issue? When people aren’t speculating the other 7-8 months that Nintendo doesn’t do presentations, I think they can speculate heavy the few times a year Nintendo does directs.

Anyone that likes good games.

Because one of those will probably suck.

What about the shadow drop thing of that one game that‘s supposed to be next week or something?
There’s no shadowdrop. The date for the game was announced a couple days ago. People took something and came to the wrong conclusion. It wasn’t Nintendo related

Nate has his Microsoft predictions on Spotify. Omg…he has a new Banjo in his headline….

Ok MVG confirmed Banjo will be at Microsoft’s presentation! He just doesn’t know what it will be. He’s heard about it from some people.
Man, if we get a Banjo and DK announcement this month I'm gonna lose my mind! In a good way, of course 😂.

Same! I'd be so happy to get a colorful platformer or adventure or PnC type game from Microsoft this go-around. Hopefully the leak, which may or may not be real, is not all-encompassing of the announcements if it is real.

We never did hear what Playtonic is working on now, I wonder when we get that announcement.

If I had to guess I think we’ll get the Banjo remakes. Maybe to help test the waters for the series. I’m still excited to see them get remakes if that’s the case.

I would prefer it if it was new tbh. Played the old games to death.
I totally understand both of you. I play through Banjo-Kazooie once a year on XBLA/NSO now, so I've also played it to death, but I only played Tooie once a few years ago so at least that would have some novelty. At the same time, I agree with Dark Cloud that this is probably the wisest decision to test the market response to Banjo in general in 2022/2023 and see where we can iterate and evolve from here. A new, fully-funded, lovingly crafted Banjo game after the supposed success of this remake(s) would probably make me cry lmao

I think I'm going to have to...gulp...play some games after this podcast concludes. In the Fourside department store in Earthbound now, really hoping to clock at least 8-10 hours in the game this weekend

In some ways a banjo remake would make sense to me, less investment cost, and a smaller dedicated team is all you need. I’m cool with whatever tho

I feel like every E3 there is always talk of a new Banjo but nothing comes out of it. This has been going on since Microsoft bought Rare. At this point, it if it happens it happens but it's not something I am expecting or hoping for. I don't think Microsoft sees a lot of potential in the series outside of memes and internet reactions. By that I mean, Phil will gladly talk about Banjo to get old nerds hyped up and of course get additional money through nostalgia when Banjo shows up in things like Smash and Minecraft. But in terms of making a new Banjo-Kazooie game from the ground up with reasonable amount of budget and resources, I don't see that as likely.

I feel the main problem with Banjo is that most of the people interested in the IP play on Switch, and while a new Banjo game would be an interesting XBox exclusive for older Nintendo fans, it wouldn't be interesting enough to bring them to buy an XBox.

GamePass might be the solution to this problem. A new Banjo could be the perfect trojan horse to sell the service to Nintendo fans.

If that insider has a great track record, isnt it more ridiculous to be purposely obtuse and ignore what they say? Like he’s been right about directs, knows the direct date, it’s absurd at this point to just assume he’s lying
Lying, no. I don't think Nate is ever lying. He's just wrong sometimes. He was the one that also said the Switch Pro reveal was "imminent" right before E3 last year as well, then tried to backtrack in less than 24 hours.

He's also been wrong on when Directs are coming in the past. The larger point isn't that he isn't reliable and doesn't have legit sources, but that his information isn't always accurate and correct. Not that he's intentionally lying. But that his sources don't always know what they think they know.

the virgin Xenoblade 3 vs the chad Soul Hackers 2. only available on chad systems like xbox, pc, and playstation

I know it's a meme but I can't look at Ringo seriously

She looks like she's about to thank the Super Chats after a 5 hours stream of a Minecraft collab.

now that you mentioned it, I don't think Atlus games are all that streamable. usually because of Atlus. that might hurt some exposure as some games are popular with vtubers in japan

We still stan tho 🙏 (once it releases on Nintendo hardware or I can buy a cheap ps4 used copy)

Glad to see you have humor in this (I do too) 😂
I laugh at how the same few misses are used on repeat. I guess Bloomberg and Nikkei should be ignored for their misses, too. If my info was so awful, then it'd be ignored. The fact is shows up so frequently in YT videos or articles is a testament that the majority has been accurate.

It’s okay to speculate but when people take it seriously to the point it messes up their day or week that when you have to step away.

Then your comment is unwarranted, if someone's upset they're upset. No need for you to be concerned, right?

If instead you mentioned when people take it seriously enough to harrass insiders, then you'd be on to something.

Don't forget: Call of Duty Switch,

Prime Trilogy

Mario 3D All Stars unlikely to launch so close to announcement due to Japan Pre-order rules (which was absolutely 100% fake, btw, they don't have any restrictions like that),

a "Neat thing" coming out any week now, that somehow ended up being bluetooth support many months later,

N64 controllers being restocked in a certain month (they were the month after),

Chrono Cross as a PS5 exclusive,

KT are too busy on a new main FE to make warriors 2 (Warriors 2 is this month),

PS Plus Premium would have 100 PS1 games at launch (2 days before and it seems to only be the small portion from other regions, if this is true at the last minute i'll happily eat my tail)

Like, so much shit has been outright wrong that i don't blame anyone else here for being skeptical or annoyed when things are vague or keep changing. The whole ordeal with the "inevitable pro announcement" from the whole industry last summer only to get a boring, brighter screen model was enough to pretty much piss me off and make me tune out of the whole insider game forever and ever since all it did was rile me up, get me hopeful for good news in life, only to be disappointed constantly. Doesn't help that this can easily seem to the outside world how this constant vagueness teasing is all done to prop up and help self-promote a podcast so that even if things don't work out, hey, you got new subs and viewers and a bigger outlet: sure is why Nintendolife and such keep reporting on rumors even if some of them are obviously, blatantly not true

I only really have respect for insiders who just reveal stuff they're 100% certain on and own up to their Ls if not, or just those who datamine since that sort of stuff is lock and key. (That's how we absolutely know for a bajillion percent GB-GBA NSO is real and was at least worked on, thanks to datamining those leaks)

Heck, apparently the OLED specs were in a switch update datamine last year before all that went down, so if I just paid attention to that my mental health last summer would have been a lot better lol. I don't think any wrong info is deliberate lying or anything, but definitely a hard quick rush to be the "first story out" without vetting or checking to see if something is viable, which in turn just lead to inevitable disappointment and anger when it doesn't pan out. Let's not kid ourselves, outlets and youtubers got WAY more clicks from Switch Pro reporting than anything regarding the possibility of a minor brighter screen revision likely spawned by semiconductor shortages.

So yeah I don't fully buy the direct is not next week, but I also don't fully buy it's gonna happen on Tues/Wed. At this rate I stopped giving as much of a shit about that and try to find something to play even if 2022 is hella dry for me first party wise until Live a Live/AW come out. At the very least, Capcom Fighting/Stadium/Sonic Origins/Klonoa/TMNT/NSO stuff are killer and will keep me plenty happy until the end of July, which is when I'd say we'd absolutely NEED a direct due to there being blatant gaps after that point, and I'm having a hella fun time with the Turrican Anthologies on PS4. Hopefully they come to Switch's eShop or the physicals on that system ship very soon since I'd love to play them portably...

Alright so yesterday when vibes were low I had an idea to lift things up in in here...

Quote reply to this message with your favorite memory of a Direct Announcement. Be specific: where were you when you were watching, how many tears did you shed, what were your Direct snacks?

I’ll randomly pick one of the (valid) replies tomorrow (Saturday) morning and gift them an eshop game of their choosing, $20 max! (or I suppose credit if a code isn't possible) Include the game you’d be hoping to grab with it in your reply to give the devs some love :)
Not going to get around to tallying up the responses and pulling a winner until tonight or tomorrow morning, fyi!

Learn the difference between prediction/speculation and inside information.

Prime Trilogy -- this has been explained a dozen times.

Mario 3D All Stars unlikely to launch so close to announcement due to Japan Pre-order rules (which was absolutely 100% fake, btw, they don't have any restrictions like that) -- which was speculation due to timing.

Chrono Cross as a PS5 exclusive -- this was wrong.

KT are too busy on a new main FE to make warriors 2 (Warriors 2 is this month) -- when was this ever said? KT/IS are making a new mainline FE & all the info I've shared will be confirmed in time. And I said I wasn't aware of FEW2 being in development.

And I owned up to any misses. So kindly take your dismissive attitude elsewhere. Don't like rumors? Don't read them or engage with them. You people create false narratives to push your misguided agenda.

This joke hasn't missed any of the 3 times you've used it, and I'm expecting it to be used many more times through late June lol.

Great episode today. It really sounds like Xbox has their pick of the litter as far as showing off quality content that could be releasing anytime in the next 2-3 years.

One thing that always amuses me in Direct speculation lead-up madness is when people seem to get overly upset about OTHER people getting upset. Sure, there's always going to be a few posts and randomness that seems to go overboard and like some people are taking things too seriously, but just ignore that, okay? Or if it bothers you, stop watching the thread for a while or something. It's nothing to get too concerned about.

It's all in good fun! Good vibes, keep chill, and so on!

If you don't think Nate's reliable, cool. But to make a testament with everything he has missed, or supposedly missed, it’s way out there.
Yeah also don't do that either

Nintendo fans still need a decent PC or Xbox or streaming-ready internet for Game Pass
