If you are upset about not getting General and insiders promising you something. There was given that there will be Direct next week. It's a Direct. That's it.

On the bright side, at least the complaints about the lack of third party support will stop for a while.
If anything I've felt like the third party support on Switch has been far too robust personally, but that's as someone who plays most third party games on other systems (and usually when they release, which is often far in advance of a Switch port)

I get that a lot of people only have a Switch or prefer playing 3P games on their Switch, though. Takes all kinds and without the strong 3P support from Nintendo I assume they'd just be even more quiet and for even longer.

What an amazing duology.... we deserved a third one....

Really want too see a new one. Thats like the only reason I am really disappointed right now.
I know Zelda is coming. DK is not as certain. Same with Pikmin

hot take: the people who are insisting that branding is irrelevant are holding out hope that will ultimately betray them
yeah

What day was that
Here's one of them. Don't know if there's more earlier, but this was before Alanah said anything.
and more,

What if the branding changes entirely and it’s actually a Nintendo Indirect O_O
It's just Koizumi and Takahashi having a conversation over coffee for 30 minutes where they talk about random stuff, occasionally mentioning unannounced games without providing any gameplay footage or context.

I think I’ve hit acceptance.

I’ve come to realize I guess I personally don’t need a general right at the moment. For two reason. Both, I have Three Hopes and Xenoblade 3 that will keep me busy for dozens of hours lol. Second, I’m not really worried about Nintendo’s lineup. They have a lot coming, and I had already accepted that even if we had had a general, the BotW2 delay announcement was probably a good sign of “we don’t plan on showing it soon.”

My feelings of negativity mainly stem from confusion and frustration. Because I’m so confident in Nintendo’s lineup, it just seems like being different for the sake of being different that we aren’t getting a general direct this month. They have the content to justify it, and it’s just annoying that they’re going some random new direction. And the fact that they don’t give any heads up about what they’re doing is also annoying as hell. Playing cards close to their chest in terms of both announcing directs and the release dates of the games in them just creates a constant feeling of being in the dark.

Anyways, I’ll be good for now I think. And I’m at least INTERESTED in how they’re gonna play this week. It’ll be fun to talk about here. But once Xenoblade 3 has passed and we’re closer to BotW2’s release date, I’m gonna NEED that beefy September direct lol.

Also fucking announce Bayo 3’s date

All I will say is this: When General Direct happens I want to see some good fucking hairstyles from Koizumi, Aonuma, Takahashi, Nogami. Basically everyone who is in the Direct needs to have a god tier hairstyle to justify the wait.

I don't think Nintendo views Mario + Rabbids in the same vein, though.
They had Miyamoto at the unveiling at Ubisoft's E3 and steered clear of releasing their own Switch games around the original's release date. You're really underselling the importance of this. Alongside the original M+R, and Monster Hunter Rise, this is likely the biggest third-party exclusive title Nintendo will have on the system.

We don't really disagree on all that much, but comparing the multi-million selling Mario-licensed title to something as niche as Shin Megami Tensei V is frankly ridiculous. I'm agreed Nintendo likely have something else; I just don't think it's impossible that there isn't another big seller waiting in the wings.

Tbh if Mario + Rabbids wasn't rumored to be in this Direct I'd be really annoyed right now, but because it is I'm actually pretty excited for it. Bring it on.

Nintendo: does a big June presentation literally every single year, except for 2020 because pandemic

2022: E3 goes away, but there's literally nothing stopping them from doing a Direct anyway

Nintendo:

Fuck this

M+R seems to be the one thing insiders all pretty much know, and what made them know of the direct in the first place I think

Nintendo Passive Aggressive.

"We didn't really need to advertise this game because you're gonna buy it anyway, but since you've been asking so politely..."

Would be quite funny if after all this hype and speculation for the entire month it turns out to just be a mario and rabbids direct.

Personally speaking I loved his soundtrack but he is kinda an grade A asshole. I wouldn't lose sleep if he doesn't return.

The point is that Nintendo treats both as 3rd party titles. Obviously Mario + Rabbids will sell more, but Nintendo advertises them as equals. I'm not really buying the idea that they steered clear of it in 2017 either considering how light that year was in overall quantity of releases.

Nintendo has shown time and time again that they want to have something 1st party out for the holiday alongside Pokemon. Mario + Rabbids does not fill that void. Bayonetta might, and it's certainly possible that they don't have anything else for the year. But I'm of the firm belief that they do, and holding a Partner Showcase now doesn't dissuade me from that stance.

Also I don’t gets how these are hints seems more

Wahoo one game direct
Elmo on fire was a reference to the movie St Elmo's Fire, which released on June 28, 1985.
If he were randomly posting that picture multiple times and then going back only after the fact and deciding it tied to a date, that date lining up would be a tremendous coincidence.
Unless he knew the date already.

Miyamoto announcing they bought all of Ubisoft Milan and its their first step in having more dev studios in europe. lol

Even if it is a focused direct on one game. Nintendo can just do another direct anytime they want for other games. September is empty but they can drop a Twitter post for a game like that. Somehow I don't feel too much need for a direct.
