Kamiya mentioned that people will be busy playing Splatoon 3 by the time Bayo 3 releases, so its not impossible to think that Bayo 3 will be released a little after Splat 3, so a late september date is really pausible.

Ahh gotcha, it showing in 2024 or so sounds about right, at which point I will continue to not believe in its existence and doubt everyone who says otherwise because I can’t have hope anymore.

I wonder if a new Banjo could also release later on Switch. Given it is not too demanding of course (or a remake). Microsoft and Nintendo have a good relationship and a lot of the IP audience might be on Switch.

sorry to talk about you like you're not here but this is a great springboard for one of my favorite drums to beat in this thread

a lot of industry leaks relate to the existence of something, while relatively few pertain to absolute timing. we've seen it time after time in our little corner of the internet: someone knows of something, they postulate that it might be announced at a forthcoming thing, it isn't, people angy, it's announced at a later date.

as such, I am begging you all to try to keep in mind these sorts of things when your ire is drawn by leaks. try to maintain a clear understanding of what is being said and under what terms, rather than being vaguely angry about nothing.

related to the switch pro, I can remember a very specific series of events:
  • nate the drake says new hardware at the end of 2022-ish
  • respected publication bloomberg says 2021
  • nate the drake decides to take the L prematurely and default to the respected publication
  • respected publication takes the biggest L of all time
  • time passes
  • people bring it up as a nate the drake L somehow

I get that hint-style leaks annoy people, and not getting a switch pro even moreso, but please keep your facts straight while seething

No, Xbox 1st party games outside of Minecraft will only come to platforms with GP, that’s how it goes with Xbox

If Banjo shows up in a meaningful way tomorrow, it's going to be tough for Nintendo to top that for me unless BOTW 2 also shows up in a meaningful way. Or 3D Donkey Kong or something.

There is being dire and then there is being weird. I would slot this in the latter category just for the sole reason what else will be the talking points of the Direct.

You know...if there is no Direct and no new announcements, I'm actually fine considering the current line up is ridiculous lol.

But lucky thing is, there will be a general Direct, just got to be patient. Play some games or watch a series to keep you busy lol.

At this point, I don’t really think there’s anything big left to announce for the year that’ll get me hyped, so really, the Direct can happen when it happens… I just really wanna see the next wave of Mario Kart DLC because I KNOW that’ll be soon, and I just want it already😭

That is all one in the same… to me. I wish Nintendo would release Pikmin 4 and have for last the last three years. I’m not losing any sleep over it though. I’m not attacking Emily or Nate over it. It doesn’t mess with my day. To me any of those thing means taking the “speculation” too seriously.

Tangentially to this, I've joked about Pikmin 4 a lot, but for most of the time I haven't really wanted it. Around 2015 I kind of gave up on it and since then it's mostly been a meme to me. But I recently started Pikmin 3 Deluxe again, and now I genuinely yearn for Pikmin 4. It's entered the territory of me hoping for it to actually be in the next Direct, and I'll be devastated if a new 2D Mario comes first.

So yeah, at this point I'd lump myself in with those too far gone.
 
I'm 100% on board the Banjo thing tomorrow. MVG is normally quite reserved and careful when it comes to rumours and for him to go and say "Yes this is real, it exists and it WILL happen" (albeit maybe not tomorrow) makes me very confident in it happening.

Thank you Nate for having this conversation with MVG. This will satiate my thoughts until the Direct is announced, whether it happens or not

I checked it out :). Was fun to see him play. And I can imagine it was also a bit stresfull maybe that people were watching but I think he did great. Happy he managed to defeat the guardian, haha.
 
I fully believe that Mother 1 Remake. Why? Because on one side, it is already on NSO. But also, it is very outdated. And we have been getting a lot of merchandise lately. Might be wrong tho.

Is a weird pick imo to remake when Mother 2 is more 'loved' , I'd imagine they would remake it first but maybe Nintendo has bigger plans for the series than just one remake so they want to start from the first one

Makes sense doesn't it? Battletoads also made sense but we haven't got it on Switch. Yet. Both games are unlikely to make any money for MS so they might consider letting them go.

Honestly if Nintendo has big plans for Mother that would be quite big and good, I think Nintendo should start focusing on making even more 1st party games with the current situation of the industry. They already don't rely on 3rd parties but having even more games should be important for them in the future with JP publisher support being never a thing Nintendo has for granted since the SFC days
 
Xbox network being down means I can't play my single-player game that doesn't have an online mode which is some grade A bullshit.

N64 controllers being restocked in a certain month (they were the month after),

Like, so much shit has been outright wrong that i don't blame anyone else here for being skeptical or annoyed when things are vague or keep changing. The whole ordeal with the "inevitable pro announcement" from the whole industry last summer only to get a boring, brighter screen model was enough to pretty much piss me off and make me tune out of the whole insider game forever and ever since all it did was rile me up, get me hopeful for good news in life, only to be disappointed constantly. Doesn't help that this can easily seem to the outside world how this constant vagueness teasing is all done to prop up and help self-promote a podcast so that even if things don't work out, hey, you got new subs and viewers and a bigger outlet: sure is why Nintendolife and such keep reporting on rumors even if some of them are obviously, blatantly not true

I only really have respect for insiders who just reveal stuff they're 100% certain on and own up to their Ls if not, or just those who datamine since that sort of stuff is lock and key. (That's how we absolutely know for a bajillion percent GB-GBA NSO is real and was at least worked on, thanks to datamining those leaks)

Heck, apparently the OLED specs were in a switch update datamine last year before all that went down, so if I just paid attention to that my mental health last summer would have been a lot better lol. I don't think any wrong info is deliberate lying or anything, but definitely a hard quick rush to be the "first story out" without vetting or checking to see if something is viable, which in turn just lead to inevitable disappointment and anger when it doesn't pan out. Let's not kid ourselves, outlets and youtubers got WAY more clicks from Switch Pro reporting than anything regarding the possibility of a minor brighter screen revision likely spawned by semiconductor shortages.

So yeah I don't fully buy the direct is not next week, but I also don't fully buy it's gonna happen on Tues/Wed. At this rate I stopped giving as much of a shit about that and try to find something to play even if 2022 is hella dry for me first party wise until Live a Live/AW come out. At the very least, Capcom Fighting/Stadium/Sonic Origins/Klonoa/TMNT/NSO stuff are killer and will keep me plenty happy until the end of July, which is when I'd say we'd absolutely NEED a direct due to there being blatant gaps after that point, and I'm having a hella fun time with the Turrican Anthologies on PS4. Hopefully they come to Switch's eShop or the physicals on that system ship very soon since I'd love to play them portably...

I really appreciate how some drop some ideas of what they’ve heard. I don’t like being tought how I should think and how the gaming industry works. I remember when I assumed Covid has delayed some events for Nintendo and then my post was dismissed by stating Directs are recorded month in advance… turned out we didn’t get a direct when Covid speeded up.
The direct threads lost its magic now that all my favorite games have an installment on Switch (Switch Sports and Mario Football were the most desired, sure would love a new WaveRace but then I would also need to ask for a new Nintendo Land with asynchronous multiplayer).
