Don't forget: Call of Duty Switch,
Prime Trilogy
Mario 3D All Stars unlikely to launch so close to announcement due to Japan Pre-order rules (which was absolutely 100% fake, btw, they don't have any restrictions like that),
a "Neat thing" coming out any week now, that somehow ended up being bluetooth support many months later,
N64 controllers being restocked in a certain month (they were the month after),
Chrono Cross as a PS5 exclusive,
KT are too busy on a new main FE to make warriors 2 (Warriors 2 is this month),
PS Plus Premium would have 100 PS1 games at launch (2 days before and it seems to only be the small portion from other regions, if this is true at the last minute i'll happily eat my tail)
Like, so much shit has been outright wrong that i don't blame anyone else here for being skeptical or annoyed when things are vague or keep changing. The whole ordeal with the "inevitable pro announcement" from the whole industry last summer only to get a boring, brighter screen model was enough to pretty much piss me off and make me tune out of the whole insider game forever and ever since all it did was rile me up, get me hopeful for good news in life, only to be disappointed constantly. Doesn't help that this can easily seem to the outside world how this constant vagueness teasing is all done to prop up and help self-promote a podcast so that even if things don't work out, hey, you got new subs and viewers and a bigger outlet: sure is why Nintendolife and such keep reporting on rumors even if some of them are obviously, blatantly not true
I only really have respect for insiders who just reveal stuff they're 100% certain on and own up to their Ls if not, or just those who datamine since that sort of stuff is lock and key. (That's how we absolutely know for a bajillion percent GB-GBA NSO is real and was at least worked on, thanks to datamining those leaks)
Heck, apparently the OLED specs were in a switch update datamine last year before all that went down, so if I just paid attention to that my mental health last summer would have been a lot better lol. I don't think any wrong info is deliberate lying or anything, but definitely a hard quick rush to be the "first story out" without vetting or checking to see if something is viable, which in turn just lead to inevitable disappointment and anger when it doesn't pan out. Let's not kid ourselves, outlets and youtubers got WAY more clicks from Switch Pro reporting than anything regarding the possibility of a minor brighter screen revision likely spawned by semiconductor shortages.
So yeah I don't fully buy the direct is not next week, but I also don't fully buy it's gonna happen on Tues/Wed. At this rate I stopped giving as much of a shit about that and try to find something to play even if 2022 is hella dry for me first party wise until Live a Live/AW come out. At the very least, Capcom Fighting/Stadium/Sonic Origins/Klonoa/TMNT/NSO stuff are killer and will keep me plenty happy until the end of July, which is when I'd say we'd absolutely NEED a direct due to there being blatant gaps after that point, and I'm having a hella fun time with the Turrican Anthologies on PS4. Hopefully they come to Switch's eShop or the physicals on that system ship very soon since I'd love to play them portably...
Learn the difference between prediction/speculation and inside information.
Prime Trilogy -- this has been explained a dozen times.
Mario 3D All Stars unlikely to launch so close to announcement due to Japan Pre-order rules (which was absolutely 100% fake, btw, they don't have any restrictions like that) -- which was speculation due to timing.
Chrono Cross as a PS5 exclusive -- this was wrong.
KT are too busy on a new main FE to make warriors 2 (Warriors 2 is this month) -- when was this ever said? KT/IS are making a new mainline FE & all the info I've shared will be confirmed in time. And I said I wasn't aware of FEW2 being in development.
And I owned up to any misses. So kindly take your dismissive attitude elsewhere. Don't like rumors? Don't read them or engage with them. You people create false narratives to push your misguided agenda.
This is also something I have always respected Nate for right here. He doesn't run from the criticism and has explanations that actually make sense. It's why I said that despite some things I know I covered in the past from him not happening, it hasn't made me waver on how legit of a source he is. Emily Rogers constantly backing him up really helps with this too. Nobody is 100% - Emily has had things not happen before too. Nate seems like a really decent guy from the podcasts he's on and our pretty minimal interactions we have had.
Like, he was on one of my streams a few weeks ago and I was skeptical it was really him because I have seen so many fake accounts on youtube pretend to be others, but the dude went ahead proved exactly who he was, with new information on something I hadn't seen yet on his official accounts. It was pretty neat that he didn't get agitated and probably even understood being skeptical it was him, and it was a pretty cordial interaction. I found that one to be a bit more in-depth than a typical forum interaction.
@NateDrake is, if nothing else, a stand up person. He owns his mistakes, and isn't afraid to interact with people - like myeslf - who clearly have 0 sources and just really enjoy creating conversations around this stuff.
I agree you didn't need to explain prime trilogy again - I think that's very well documented at this point and Emily was also a huge person behind that. I think we all know at this point what's going on.
I knew not to cover the 3D All-Stars thing you said as "news" because it was clearly opinion. It's really hard for many to decipher the difference. Have to pay much more attention to the word choice here. It matters a lot.
And see, owning up to the chrono cross stuff just is another thing that hey, you know what, sometimes it just doesn't come to fruition. You definitely owned up to the Switch Pro stuff. You made it very clear what you knew, and some of the larger leaps you took because of it. Which I think Takahashi got caught up in too. Knows people with dev units, knows these devs want this thing out and revealed, but that just doesn't mean Nintendo is going to follow that ideology.
You know you went too far with the imminent statement, and you explained it. It's really that that hard to keep up with what you say and how you own it. You have your own podcast, literally you listen to nothing but that and get a clear understanding.
You do you man. I've been in the news industry for a long time. I've met devs before and I know how things can be said and change. I had a direct source that Red Dead Redemption 2 was at one point attempted to be put on Switch. But that information was not only kept private at the time, it never actually meant the game would fully be ported or ever release on Switch. So I didn't make much noise with it.
But if I had said something, it's easy to see how I knew something to be true, and it gets turned into me saying THIS IS HAPPENING AND WILL RELEASE, and next you know fingers get pointed.
