Guys, are there any big JRPGs currently anounced for Switch?
I know about Xenoblade 3, Pokemon and Live a life (remake, smaller)

But other then that... im blanking. Nothing by squarer, namco, or others.
SMT5 was always a big one, and Octopath, and then Bravely Default, MH Stories 2.

But it seems None of the 3 providers (Square,Bamco, Sega) are having something in their hand?

I think Digimon Survive is coming to Switch from Bandai Namco.

Xenoblade 3 and Pokemon are HUGE JRPGs to just ignore though...

Live a Live is made by Square Enix.

Who will tell him…

This year Square had already released their Asano game in Triangle Strategy and we are getting another game with Live A Live . This year is around the same as last year just XC3 instead of SMT and different Square games only thing We are lacking is another decent sized JRPG like MHS2 but a new FE could take that place.

Hmmm yes and no. On one hand, they've achieved a cadence of about a game a month. There's hardly a month where there's not SOMETHING new to play. On the other hand I do feel like smaller budget, smaller priced first party games (that would often be found on 3DS, usually eShop only) have sort of disappeared. Games like Pushmo or Pocket Card Jockey, they kinda don't exist as much. They've been sorta supplanted by indies, but indies often lack that "nintendo magic."

I thought there'd be a space for Nintendo to maintain the $40 DS/3DS price range for smaller, easier to make games, but often times games that maybe SHOULD be priced lower (the Link's Awakening remake comes to mind) are still coming in at $60, so that dream is dead haha

I think Digimon Survive is coming to Switch from Bandai Namco.

Im not ignoring them, i mentioned them. I just never warmed up with Xenoblade, and while i will get Pokemon, for me its kinda its own thing.
Live a Live is made by Square Enix.
Shure. Its a smaller scale remake in an existing engine. I will probably play it (depending on reviews).

TS is not a JRPG =P im aware of it, i mentioned Live a Live.
I was asking, because it always fellt as if more bigger JRPG are always anounced, and currently it feels like a "lull" (dont conflate that with "oh no there are no jrpgs nintendo is doomed") with many anounced big games being out, the well of ported classics is getting dryer (not dry, just dryER), it feels like it would be time to anounce some, but could be that some are being kept for Summer Games fest.

I did miss the Digimon game, for shure.

Triangle Strategy is a JRPG, do you not consider SRPGs JRPGs? There is general lack of announcements and in JRPG Nintendo case it gets worst because Bamco releases almost no games for the Switch without Nintendo backing and SH2 skipped the Switch. But with the exception of SH2/One Piece no big JRPGs have been announced since Nintendo Direct really, so it makes sense the ‘silence’ and that Direct announced quite a bit of Directs.

@Derachi eh... not really, my bad ^^"

A JRPG cant fill the void of a strategy game, and the other way it works to, so not really. Its Kind of like Adventure games and Action Adventure games are both adventure games, but you cant exchange one with the other, because they play so differently.

(Also i did really not like the Demo...)

Hm... lack of anouncements, got it. Yeah i kinda did not feel that there is a huge lack in anouncements in the gaming sphere, but the more people mention it, the more im like "true, now that i think about it". Somethings off.

Square had a lot of back catalogue they dumped on switch, but now this has slowed down.
And Sega... honestly, i think the big point was that SMT5 was looming big, and the 3DS did get so many new games, and that soul hackers was not anounced for switch, so it kinda feels like we miss an anouncement for the next step in their switch plans.

The first two Front Mission games are getting remakes this year. Then there's rumors of Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics remasters coming. There's also Digimon Survive and that fantasy RTS game Square Enix debuted at the last State of Play.

I want to add a few more to my list of speculations and wishful thinking:

1. A more ambitious Dr. Mario - I think there’s potential in the concept to evolve it beyond what it currently is.

2. Ice Climbers co-op game - A revival worth talking about and wish for!

3. Nintendo EPD’s take on the Telltale formula - Nintendo has a habit of taking existing concepts and put their own spin on it. If they can take the Telltale formula - story-based games with choice-and-consequence dialogue - and do for it what BotW did for open worlds, I’m all here for it.

4. 2D Mario with a pencil sketchbook artstyle and some witty new gimmick - 2D Mario once and for all sheds the “New” moniker and goes for something fresh and exciting.

Sakamoto doing a new Famicom Detective Club makes sense

Because you haven't beaten Animal Crossing New Horizons yet.

Trails From Zero is out on September 27 and is an awesome game that every JRPG and hardcore Switch fan needs to play. It’s the most standalone Trails game aside from Sky so everyone can easily jump in.

it'll come forth
TUESDAY JUNE 14TH AT 9 AM PACIFIC
With no E3 framework to schedule around, I'm not sure Nintendo would choose Tuesday morning when they might be more comfortable just doing their usual Wednesday or Thursday Direct timing. Maybe a bit earlier in the day if they plan to do a tree house live thing.

They won’t do a Tuesday direct. They only did it Tuesday because E3 opened up on Tuesday.
I could see them keeping Tuesday if they plan a meaty Treehouse Live event afterwards, with maybe a few hours a day of content until Thursday.

Anything interesting in terms of rumors lately? Haven't been keeping up with those threads for sometime.
The main rumor floating around now is FE, but we have no details on it, just that we know its almost done and more info is circulating and could be unleashed at any time.

We're getting to that time of the year when Nintendo usually makes some announcements to clear the way for the Direct, right? Game Builder Garage was announced almost exactly a year ago. Maybe we'll at least hear about the stinky horse game

That’s what I’ve been saying too. Unless Geoff gets them onboard the summer fest or they decide to do it Tuesday after Microsoft to make it seem like old-E3 or something weird like that happens, it’ll probably be General Direct business as usual, time and day and all that

Which probably means they'll announce it only 2 days prior sadly. I wish they would announce it ahead of time to ease people's concerns lol

Have you played any of Double Fine games? Double Fine and Telltale were both founded by people from LucasArts who worked on classic point-and-click adventures. Telltale continued this tradition at first with simplified episodic adventure games, and then they found success with The Walking Dead formula, while Double Fine took a more experimenting approach trying to tell a good story with the gameplay rules of other genres.

I think that if you mix EPD and Telltale DNA, you'd end up with a Double Fine game -- like Psychonauts, The Cave or Stacking. They have a compelling focus on the narrative, like a Telltale (although they all lack the "choice-and-consequence" dialogues -- there is... something in The Cave, but nothing extensive as in Telltale games), and fun, intuitive and sometimes out-of-the-box gameplay, like a Nintendo game.

That’s what I’m expecting, unfortunately. Not much reason to believe they’ll announce further in advance if they don’t have to, much as I want them to

They might announce it in advance if the Direct has a Treehouse segment attached to it, i think. Especially if it's a multiple-day Treehouse featuring BOTW2, Bayonetta, Metroid Prime 1 etc

This will be a new situation so not sure if they’d announce it 2 days ahead or a week ahead or what.

Maybe someone will ask Furukawa with E3 cancelled if they plan on doing a direct then

Actually, that's a good point. Maybe Nintendo will say something about E3's cancellation at the upcoming investors meeting? I mean, Probably not, but you never know...

Anyway I am jonesin for more FE and pokemon info bad, so the sooner we get that from any source the better lol

I just want some Fire Emblem news that’s not Warriors related. Or three Houses lol
I'm honestly interested in the story of Three Hopes(and I love the TH characters so more time with them and more supports will never hut) but yeah I'm definitely ready for more info on the next new world of FE. Hopefully we get Gust FE info soon

It’s more that we got 4 separate stories of three houses that I’m all burn out on that cast and storylines. (Plus Cindered shadows)

3 more? I’ve gotten my fill but thank you for the options lol

Are there any rumours about whether or not there will be a Direct in June? I know most of us are assuming there will be, but I’m wondering if any rumours are circulating…
