As much as I am loving 13 Sentinels for its incredible storytelling, great art, and fun RTS battles, the fact that most of it plays like a visual novel, and that it's all I have been playing for the last 16 days has left me craving something with a bit more active gameplay, so I think I'll balance it out by taking Zombie Army 4 for a spin when it arrives in the mail.

I like to vary my games so that I don't get fatigued by a certain genre or style by playing it exclusively for too long, and ZA4 with its all out action seems like an excellent counterbalance to 13 Sentinel's slow-paced narrative-driven approach.

Far out it feels good to have a Nintendo system getting so many good games I can afford to play multiple at once and not have to worry about saving one for the next slow period. Between these two, Sunbreak, Xenoblade 3, and Splatoon 3, at this rate I am set til like October, and that's without even taking into account any more content that might release between now and then... 😅

It's a great time to be a Nintendo gamer.

I just opened Stanley Parable Deluxe and wtf are these achievements 😂

How the fuck am I supposed to play this game for an entire Tuesday? Is that why they asked what time it is for me? And DON'T PLAY THE GAME FOR TEN YEARS?!

Is Overwatch 2 the Splatoon 3 of cartoon multiplayer shooter sequels or is Splatoon 3 the Madden of Call of Duty DLCs?

If I remember right, you were worried about the RTS battles being made harder in the Switch version. I'm glad to see you're enjoying the game so much!

I'm watching an Overwatch 2 stream and they are playing on a map I think it set in Canada. I presume this is the case because is is filled with Canadian flags, red Maple Trees, and snow. I'm waiting to spot a hockey player, Queen Elizabeth, and @Derachi's dad before confirmation though.

Had gotten a major migraine this afternoon. Was not fun to deal with

I was able to play skyward sword some more this evening. If all goes according to plan, I may be able to beat it tomorrow

That game will be one of the first ones I get once I’m done with my backlog

I have zero scientific evidence to prove it but I just got the switch online snes controller, have been playing Mario Golf on n64 with it and I swear the input lag is better than it was using the pro controller

One of the spawns is a Vancouver hockey field so you're dead on the money lol. Also references to the large Asian community with several signs and shops which is nice.

The Italy map looks nice as well:

help. xenoblade 1 sidequest are so meh and boring but i also feel like i have to do every single one.
I'm honestly enjoying the sidequests in XC: DE despite the majority of them being fetch and exterminate missions. Although it does help that I tend to go wandering when I reach a new area and often have the items some of these sidequests ask for. Some of the little stories are also fun to read, like the one about the old lady who's prejudice against nopon because her husband ran afoul of a group of them and was murdered.

Yea, Xenoblade 1 sidequests are a zone out and chill kind of thing. I wouldn't recommend going out your way to do the generic monster hunting or collecting quests that don't come from named npcs. Just let those ones get done naturally as you come across the right monsters while exploring.

I walked away being somewhat disappointed. I mean I like the trial parts, but everything else is so… meh.

Characters aren’t fun, extremely tropey and storywise its passable. Monakuma sucks

The trials were by far the highlight. I pretty much agree with the characters. They were mostly generic and I really couldn't pick a favorite out of the group.

I had enough fun to play 2, but I am not in a hurry to play it. Hopefully it improves in a bunch of areas

I think the first game is ok. I loved the second game and mostly loved the third game.

Stanley Parable just broke my fucking brain. What the actual fuck.

I accidentally let a baby cutout get burned to death (I swear I tried clicking it) and the Narrator transported me into fucking Firewatch. Yes, the video game. He said "here, play someone else's game" and I thought he was bullshitting but he actually did.

I didn’t care for 2 that much either

I know the Danganronpa series has its fans, but it’s not for me I guess.

If Nintendo was to ever acquire platinum games, how would y'all reactions be?
« Finally ! »

PG is the number one company Nintendo should consider to buy. Not too big, having the same philosophy as Nintendo regarding games, and would fill a hole in the Nintendo portfolio.

It's possibly a best-case scenario for both sides

Platinum's Nintendo collabs have been fairly good for them, and also pretty critically well received. Only issue would be Platinum might lose some of its apparently much-desired independence, which, while not really working out for them so far, is still probably an important concern for them.

I think it would be a good fit for both, it's just a matter of time when, not if they get scooped up (saved) by someone. Nintendo secures a valuable partner, it would secure Platinums continued existance, PG can continue to work on games that they themselves have created while also offering valuable support to Nintendowhich they have been working with quite closely for 10 years. And honestly from a very egostic perspective.. a Monolith + Platinum collab is something that tickles me extremely hard.

If the next Direct passes without a new announcement from EPD8, is it safe to say that they probably worked on a cancelled project in between Odyssey and now? It'll be over five years in October. Every other EPD team is accounted for in one way or another. 3D Mario games normally come out every few years or so, but it's already been longer than that. Maybe they worked on Odyssey 2 but ran out of ideas and scrapped the project, or maybe they worked on a new IP or Captain Toad 2 or something? I don't know, their absence is pretty weird.

If anyone were willing to acquire PG, I'd hope for it to be Nintendo purely based on my selfish desire of them continuing with stuff like Bayo, Astral Chain, and similar projects.

The pain in my heart knowing Japan has Buddy Mission Bond as their 1 week free trial game starting now, and we (still) don't even know if it'll get a release in the West🥺 💔

I would prefer for PG to be independent but if I have to choose between Nintendo or other companies, I prefer Nintendo. Same with almost all companies that Nintendo works with

so my partner was playing BotW the other night and I was helping out while they were smoking by getting them closer to one of the towers

and I found this… hole…

that does not seem like it’s supposed to be there

like it’s Link-sized, and you can fall in, and if you don’t do anything you can sort of climb out

but when you’re in there, you can see forever breaking down
Oh damn where? I need to see this xD

According to hiring calls they are supposedly working on two projects (a 2D one and a 3D one) so it could be a split resources thing.

But really if an EPD Tokyo game comes out in 2023 that would be the same gap as BOTW2, it’s just that Zelda games get announced way earlier before release than Mario games. And big franchises like those are the most affected by COVID.

If we get June Direct, I hope that Nintendo will somehow do Treehouse, they did some previously online via remote work but it's not really it, they could just do pre-recorded videos with dev team and post in on YouTube I guess.

Well, if the next 3D Mario is not announced this year then I guess it's next gen thing. And if anything I don't think this next 3D Mario game would later than in H1 2023. Holiday 2023 just seems to late for me.

Here we go again...

If you don't want to click:

Reggie Fils-Aimé says he's a believer in blockchain and so-called play-to-own technology.

He appeared to be quite enthusiastic about the idea: "So I'm a believer in blockchain, I think it's a really compelling technology. I'm also a believer in the concept of 'play to own' within video games, and I say this as a player where I may have invested 50 hours, 100 hours, or 300 hours in a game, and when I'm ready to move on to something else, wouldn't it be great to monetise what I've built?"

Fils-Aimé used an example from his former employer to support his case: "I bet I'd have some takers here today if I wanted to sell my Animal Crossing island from the latest Nintendo Switch version; I'd like to be able to monetise that. Blockchain technology embedded in the code would enable me to do that."

To his credit, Fils-Aimé did say that the use of blockchain needs to be thoughtful and consumer-friendly: "Now I say that in the context of 'it needs to make sense for the player'. It can't just be an approach by the developer that it's interesting or it's a way for them as a development entity to make more money. In the end, it's got to be good for the player, but I see an opportunity."

I can't see why they wouldn't do it. E3 last year was a digital-only event and there was a pretty big Treehouse segment anyway

Yeah I'd have to assume that if we don't hear what they're working on this year that something went on behind the scenes like a big game cancelation. Right now their silence is very similar to the silence on Retro Studios during the first few years of the Switch before we got the news they were being put on Prime 4. (DKCTF --> Prime 4 reboot at Retro announcement was 5 years, we are now 5 years out from Odyssey)
