Reposting my comment from the NS Sports review thread:
So I just read on the Nintendo website that Nintendo Switch Sports only supports online play with one other person than yourself... Was looking forward to playing with a couple of my friends together :/

For context, in the "No. of players" section for the game it says "Online (1-2)" and at first I thought it was for how many people you can take online on one Switch (like you can play with 2 people online on the same switch in MK8DX) but then I checked for games like Splatoon 2 and MK8DX and they both say "Online (2-8)" and "Online (2-12) respectively. Which I take as a confirmation that I won't be able to play doubles tennis as an example with 3 other friends, which is a real bummer. Actually thinking about cancelling my pre-order, which is a first.

Satoru Iwata passed away nearly 7 years ago, and it still seems surreal. Iwata’s passing was quite sudden, and it left fans in mourning ever since. Millions around the world were impacted by the loss of Iwata, and that certainly includes Reggie Fils-Aimé.

During his SXSW keynote, Reggie opened up about how hard Iwata’s passing hit him. Not surprisingly, it was a life-changing moment for Reggie. You can see Reggie’s full comments on the matter below.

"So my boss, my mentor, my friend, Satoru Iwata passed away in 2015. He and I were just about the same age and he passed away from a form of cancer, and you know, he and I had worked together at that point for over ten years. So when that happens, when that touches so close to the bone, it really creates a need for you to step and evaluate - “what am I doing, am I having fun, am I doing things that are really fulfilling” - and I was having a lot of fun at Nintendo, but I wanted to do more.

I wanted to share my learnings on a much broader stage - like this - I wanted to help young executives go on their own pathway, I wanted to do board service, I wanted to spend more time with Cornell (University). When you’re running a company - Nintendo of America was the biggest part of global Nintendo, half of the sales and profits - when you’re running the company, you can’t do all of those things."

It’s obviously a travesty that Iwata is no longer with us, and it’s sad that Reggie isn’t at Nintendo anymore, but it is heartwarming to see that Iwata’s tragic passing pushed Reggie to strive for even more in his life. A friend can motivate you to do incredible things no matter whether they are, be it here or the great beyond.

I put what Reggie said in quotations so it would look better on here.

I cannot overstate how good Great Ace Attorney is.

That's all. That's the post.
I still need to get around to finishing this sometime… But after playing 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and finding it just okay, as well as not being super impressed by the first half of The Great Ace Attorney (despite everyone claiming it’s, like, the best Ace Attorney game), I should probably keep my expectations in check.

I did absolutely love the Famicom Detective Club remakes, however, and it’s a damn shame that so few people picked them up. I found them far more gripping and enjoyable than both TGAA and 13 Sentinels, so with all the praise those games get it’s weird (and sad) that I don’t see more praise for the FDC games.

I finished Samurai Warriors 5 recently.

I know that some people didn't like it for the truncated character roster, but I myself enjoyed the game.
Is the switch version of that alright or those other warriors games on sale? I wanted to try more after the hyrule and fire emblem ones

Actually, no. Or at least, not the last I checked. The most recent Koei Tecmo sale may have ended recently, but if you're referring to the recent Nintendo sale, it may be on there.

Seems odd to me since tennis is apparently doubles only, so you would think they would let 4 people play? Maybe that all is changed when the online patch is released?

If I can actually play with only one other friend online I'm returning my copy, don't know why Nintendo still doesn't understand online after so long to be honest.

I finished Danganrompa 1 last night on the Switch.

I had my ups and downs with this game. It started pretty slow, but really picked up as the game went on. The free time portions were the weak part of the game. I really liked the trials and the fast pace with them. Some of the back and forth dialog felt like it could have been trimmed down a bit, especially the last trial. It felt like the game was trying to over explain the story but no big deal.

Overall, I'd say a solid 7/10. I will probably wait a while until starting the second game

All that work to get the physical copy, and I haven’t had time to even start…and looks to still be available…

So apparently there are rumors that Ubisoft is getting acquired?

I... could see it.

Hell, I'm almost counting on it at this point.
Acquired by a private equity firm, which I…wouldn’t bet on making improvements.

Well from what I've heard from most people, TGAA1 is only like a 7/10 game while TGAA2 is more like a 10/10, but it requires all the buildup and context from the first game. So if you can push through to TGAA2 you'll be rewarded far more (although someone who's actually played both can I'm sure give a better explanation of this than I am, this is all secondhand).

As for FDC vs 13S, it's all just a matter of taste and opinions, probably. I found the FDC games to be just okay: charming and enjoyable, but nothing too exciting and they felt pretty dated. But 13 Sentinels completely blew me away in every single category and I adored it, so shrugs

Ubisoft is getting acquired since 2002 , they are the Western Sega. I am not saying It’s not going to happen there is always the chance with Ubisoft just that I wouldnt take the rumors seriously, especially when we are talking about a public company.

Also people still moaning about Super Mario Sunshine? It's 2022 ffs. Moaning about Super Mario Sunshine sounds like moaning about toon Link when Wind Waker was revealed. Times have changed and Super Mario Sunshine is awesome, live with it.
No see, that’s not the same thing. Complaining about Toon Link is complaining about the game’s visual style. No one ever says anything bad about Sunshine’s visuals; they’re universally praised, as well they should be. People say Sunshine is a bad game because it’s a badly designed, janky bugfest filled to the brim with awful challenges, a terrible camera, and a fundamentally flawed central gimmick in FLUDD.

Times may have changed, but Sunshine hasn’t. It was bad in 2002 and it’s still bad today.

is it

you be soft
or
ooh be soft
it's "you be soft" because it's short for Ubiquitous Software
Also, they say “A Ubisoft Original,” which indicates that “Ubisoft” starts with a consonant (“y”) sound. If it was Oobysoft, it would be “An Ubisoft Original”

fake edit: beaten, but with more grammar context™

I’ll take your word for it! The sheer quantity of Marvel content keeps me away from all of their Disney + programs (except for Wandavision).
Moon Knight is more like Wandavision, but with much less MCU connections. I'm starting to get tired of all the MCU content as well though. They're going way overboard with it (there shouldn't be 7 or 8 projects releasing in a single year). Moon Knight is great, I'm interested in Doctor Strange, Thor, and Guardians 3, and I'll be there day one for Spider-Man 4 and Loki season 2. Other than that..... maybe Ms Marvel and Black Panther 2? I don't know. It's getting to be way too much.

I walked away being somewhat disappointed. I mean I like the trial parts, but everything else is so… meh.

Characters aren’t fun, extremely tropey and storywise its passable. Monakuma sucks

Yeah, I dunno, I personally preferred Famicom Detective Club over the others so far in pretty much every category, especially gameplay. Maybe they’re just not my type of games, but TGAAC and 13 Sentinels (aside from the Destruction mode, which I wasn’t super into either) kinda just play themselves almost with very little thought needed from the player, I feel? While the FDC games were kinda like a puzzle in many places, where you have to try to figure out where to go, who to talk to, and what to say or present. And honestly they didn’t feel too dated to me, which I thought was actually super impressive—I was constantly in awe that these were NES games! I spent a whole weekend binge-playing both games with my partner almost nonstop except to eat and sleep, lol. It makes me sad that we’re probably unlikely to get any more of these games because the FDC series instantly became one of my favorite Nintendo franchises, and so far what I’ve played of similar games just doesn’t come close to me.

Since May has no first party releases, is the news cycle just gonna be promoting Strikers and FE ?
They will still promote Switch Sports but yes , we will probably get more Xenoblade videos though Monolith has been posting daily videos on their JP account , and NoA/NoE accounts also havent stopped posting new information. We also have to get more Live A Live trailers of the different eras so we would probably get a couple more or a full history trailer.

Yeah. For LAL we got 6 more trailers so I can see 2 per month till July, and in a sizzle reel in potential direct. Nintendo should do what tthe Splatoon team does, have an NA branch of monolith.

so my partner was playing BotW the other night and I was helping out while they were smoking by getting them closer to one of the towers

and I found this… hole…

that does not seem like it’s supposed to be there

like it’s Link-sized, and you can fall in, and if you don’t do anything you can sort of climb out

but when you’re in there, you can see forever breaking down

A link-shaped hole near a tower, huh? Been forgetting to use the glider again?

I was gonna share the original but then Google provided this immaculate shitpost and thought the abyss would approve

This was only posted a couple of days ago, looks like it's just a patent for data processing. Patents are posted Thursday morning so there should be one or two new ones soon.
This is a method for keeping video game character data synced across multiple devices which might be in different physical regions (and this served by different cloud servers). It specifically mentions keeping consoles synced with phone apps.

Filers are Pokémon Company and Nintendo, no Niantic involvement - everyone seems to be a Pokémon Company or Creatures employee. If anyone wants to speculate wildly

maybe the new Pokéwalker connects to Pokémon Home

or maybe they’re doing some manner of split cloud save
