look at this chart and tell me fire emblem fans aren't rolling in paper

I, too, think Nintendo is not going to announce a new Fire Emblem before Three Hopes. My guess is September Direct at the earliest.

Also, I guess its release is going to be next year, and focus this one on Three Hopes DLC.

I dont think Prime 4 will get even a proper teaser if Prime HD is there. It would instantly eclipse it even if it was just 30 seconds of it

Buuut being reasonable i could see them doing some instant flashes of MP4, overall lasting 3 seconds at best. "Everything is going fine, Retro Studios is working on another thing too, tadah!"

October.

Hopefully we get a date for bayo 3.

Nintendo knew what they were doing when they put married Chrom X Robin in the game. Instant 1 billion dollars from the desperate Fire Emblem fans ( me ).

If they don't announce Bayo 3's release date in the Summer Direct, I doubt it will still release this year.

Unless they decide to announce the release date ahead of the Direct.

Port Woolly World (again, I mean)!

I am stunned that XCX is still marooned on WiiU. Genuinely would not have believed you if you told me that it was still there while something like Wonderful 101 made it off.

Maybe Nintendo is trolling everyone and will release XCX on Switch as both the last possible WiiU port and the last mainline Switch release in 2025 or whatever. It's gonna be chaos when they port Devil's Third in early 2024 just to screw with everyone.

For what it’s worth, Emily said that Nintendo gave Monolith Soft a choice to develop a port for Xenoblade X or a new game (in conjunction with Xenoblade DE). MS obviously chose the latter. She also made further comments that some of the staff members really struggled with X’s development.

That being said, I’m not giving up hope for an X port in the future. We know that the team has a strong desire to go back to that world. And with Xenoblade 3 supposedly being the conclusion to the first three game’s story arc, that gives them the perfect opportunity to continue on with X after 3. Who knows…maybe they will tie into X somehow?

I believe that's my fault. Xenoblade Chronicles X was the only first party game I didn't buy on the Wii U, I decided to wait for a Switch port so I wouldn't have to buy it twice like I did with everything else. That's why it was never ported.

I'm truly sorry, Xenoblade fans.

Glad the Nintendo Direct Speculation thread is back for round 2! Late May / early June seems most likely to me since if they do Treehouse Live (which might not happen) they could sneak in some Mario Strikers and Fire Emblem demos.

I’m sticking with my general predictions from when the last Direct ended, namely this Direct will be focused on Mario, Metroid, and Zelda with Bayonetta 3 returning. Mario gets a new platformer ahead of the movie, Metroid sees the Remakester announced with our first proper teaser of Prime 4, and we get a good look at Zelda finally with a bigger trailer, title reveal, and if there is Treehouse possibly, maybe a demo. Bayonetta 3 comes back and we at least get a release month if not a proper date (I’m most leaning toward late October / Halloween, but August is open.).

Xenoblade 3 and Splatoon 3 are obviously there and get new trailers (hoping for a new mode for Splatoon) and we’ll see the Mario Kart Wave 2 Booster Pass tracks. I think Mario and Rabbids will be here, but there’s a real chance it just shows up at an Ubisoft show instead. I’m 50/50 if the Fire Emblem game will be here even if it lands in December since Three Hopes is so close and might prove distracting. I’m sure I’ll settle into team yes or team no as we get closer. Other thing I’m 50/50 on is Wind Waker and Twilight Princess coming to Switch. I think they are coming this year, I’m just not sure if they get announced here.

I’m going to attempt to will Fortune Street, F-Zero, and Mother 3 into existence.

Hey, at least the Wii U will have one good exclusive game forever.

XCX will come to non-Wii U platforms , wasn't it mentioned in an interview than they could only remaster one of XC1 or XCX and they choosed XC1? That should mean that next time it's XCX turn to be remaster to the Switch (or successor) also with how successful is now the franchise the comments made about a port not being financial viable don't apply anymore , I would bet that we are getting XCX on the Switch (or successor) in 3-4 years.

Part of me is disappointed that the next EPD4 game is a sequel to 1-2 Switch. It's a really creative group and I would have preferred their manpower to be put somewhere else, like pilotwings or a new IP.

With April coming to an end, I'm starting to think that maybe we'll see their game in June..

At least they'll most likely have another game next year.

I think Xenoblade X will get ported after Xenoblade 3 is fully done (ie if they do an expansion game again). The only question is if the X port will be exclusive to the gen 2 Switch or not.

Incidentally, I don’t think we will see or hear about the next Switch at the next Direct. I feel the whole point of this year is to say hey the Switch is here to stay for now it’s got an extended future still. Maybe later in the year we’ll here about the revision/next one, but not now.

I don’t Pro-speculate much, but Xenoblade X Remaster feels like it’d be a great launch title

Gorgeous open world game not many played, give it the boost the main Xenoblade series got and continue it from there

Maybe they will even have 2 games this year... We still don't know who is working on Switch Sports. Wii sports and Wii sports resort were directed by Takayuki Shimamura who is now a producer at EPD4. It would be weird if Switch Sports didn't involve him in any capacity.

HEY! YOU'RE exactly right oh my god fuck
Haha, I was on jury duty when the Switch released! We proclaimed not guilty then I walked out and picked up my system.
Keighley only puts his name on stuff when there's an agreement in place. Even though his brand isn't as well-established as say, E3, I still think it would potentially be advantageous for Nintendo to work with him on his summer event.
I think it's more advantageous for Nintendo to have their event separately since it gives them their own spotlight, meanwhile with Keighley they would have to share the limelight with several other publishers. Also it's not like they are hurting for attention, Nintendo Directs are one of the most popular digital events in the gaming community.

How? I think they'll probably agree to it, but more as a way to help him out and build a unified front for gaming than the other way around

I pointed this out in another thread recently, but Persona 4 Golden will have its tenth anniversary on June 14th, which means there's a 99% chance Atlus will be in the E3 June Direct to announce Persona Q branded mouthwash.

My serious 'left field' prediction for this year is Capcom will announce something related to Mega Man Legends, either a collection or a reboot of 3.

If the “Pro” came out Q1 2023 then we aren’t getting XBCX so close to 3.

I’m gonna hook Fire Emblem Warriors into my veins as a Nintendo-Musou fan, and I’ll get the proper Fire Emblem game because I really liked Three Houses. Even better if Gust is attached as is rumored, because I’m also an Atelier fan.

I have a feeling we're not getting a direct around the same time as usual.

Maybe earlier, maybe later, but not in the middle of June.

I'm not saying that Nintendo wouldn't still do a Direct. I'm saying that if Keighley does his Summer Games Fest or whatever it's called and it ostensibly replaces E3 with different publishers having their own digital events, it would be to Nintendo's benefit for their Direct to be included in that. No one who was already planning to watch the Direct would suddenly change their mind just because Keighley is involved, but they may well get a few extra viewers if it's part of a larger event. And sure, it would also be advantageous to Keighley since it gives his event more legitimacy.

Next direct will finally announce a Goemon collection, along with a brand new Goemon game with Good Feel developing it and NIntendo publishing.
Would Good-Feel really want to work with Konami again ? I feel like they should either embrace being a Nintendo related company or do their own indepedent thing but not try to go back to Konami which is what they would need to do to make a new Goemon game, if you mean the rumored spirtual sucessor I’m all in for it happening especially if Nintendo publishes the game so we can get it in the West.

A Xenoblade X port will come in the first year of the Switch Pro. So will an enhanced version of Smash Bros for Wii U and Pokemon Stars. Also Zelda has been delayed but a new 3D Mario will launch with the system.

It's happening in July this year I think and Metroid Prime 1 remake or remaster gets revealed and we see Metroid Prime 4 trailer.

My actual, probably wrong, next Direct Predictions in no particular order

-Xenoblade 3 story trailer
-Splatoon 3 story mode trailer. Introduction of new amphibious music group
-Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes trailer
-New 2D Mario out this holiday
-New Fire Emblem announced. Coming holiday 2022 or spring 2023
-Square Enix stuff: Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, Chrono Trigger, FF Tactics, Ogre Tactics all coming to Switch. Live a Live trailer or in a sizzle real.
-Sonic Adventure Collection 3D Origins Whatever (SA1, SA2, Heroes, and Shadow for the lullz)
-Breath of the Wild 2 name reveal and trailer
-Capcom: Megan Man X9 and new Ace Attorney
-Bayo 3 trailer - Releasing October
-Surprise Arms 2 announcements: New Stinky Horse fighter with hooves for arms
-Metroid Prime 4 trailer and Metroid Prime 1 Remake announced

Some other third party shit I can't think of right now. No mention of new hardware. No Gameboy stuff for NSO + Expansion announced but there will be another surprise for Expansion Pass owners (expansion to an existing or upcoming game). That's all I got at the moment.

I'm not saying there wouldn't be a Direct either, I just don't see what Nintendo would gain from participating in Keighley's Summer Games Fest. By having their Direct be it's own thing Nintendo would be ensuring that all eyes will be on them, however if they were part of SGF they would have to share that attention with other publishers. The only one benefitting from that arrangement is Keighley alone.

That's the crux of my view, why share the spotlight when you can have it to yourself.

Direct almost certainly remaining in June. The question is just if it releases before the 10th or after the 10th. My guess is before so they can get out one last trailer for mario strikers, but they could just go after too, its a bit up in the air. Still 1st half of June is my bet

they should make it exclusive. it would be the best way to showcase the jump over the wii u version. even XC2 and XC3 is looking to give up things (like IQ) to achieve higher fidelity rendering. XCX's world design would be a great way to push their tools and show off the new features of next gen hardware (ray traced skybox anyone?)

I think with Keighley the moment the date is announced he will write a tweet in a way that makes the direct look like part of the Summer Game Fest like he did the last two years so no big deal there.

As someone who obsessively reads Xeno-related interviews, I can say nothing about a choice between 1 or X for a remaster was ever said. The only time the subject an X port came up in an interview with Takahashi was before DE was announced where Takahashi said it would be expensive and seemed doubtful. When DE came out, Takahashi said 3 and DE were pitched together (source https://xenomira.wordpress.com/2020/05/21/famitsu-june-4th-edition-takahashi-qa/)

3 is sharing assets with DE. You can see some plants and brown mushroom models from DE's Makna in 3's first trailer when the party is running through the forest. Considering they need HD versions of some Xenoblade 1 stuff, it's likely a Xenoblade 1 remaster was always the plan to go along with 3 to get the most use out of those assets.

I do hope X gets a new release one day. It's an incredible game and I hope more people get to experience it.
