Origami King wasn't a return to form, that much is true.

Because it was better than that.

Playing Banjo Tooie again and it’s really obvious how much Rare felt the need to overcorrect with the amount of collectibles after DKC 64 backlash.

Retro Studios is working on a new game and they ask you which one it will be:

A new FZERO

A new Star Fox

A new Pilotwings

Which one will it be?
Pilotwings.

I'd want a new StarFox to be made by Platinum (I actually liked Zero and feel the real problem is the requirement to use the dual-screen setup, which won't be an issue on Switch). And FZero I'd throw at Shin'en, because FAST Racing Neo shows they understand the feel.
In my opinion.

While I agree with the sentiment, Shin'en are tiny and to my recollection have been vocal about wanting to work on their own IPs.

F-zero. I really want a new pilotwings but that's clearly an experimental series and the future game should be made internally by EPD4 for the future Nintendo VR headset.

Depends, if they just use the IP and make a game of whatever style they find the best to make the best game possible I'd prefer Star Fox , if it has to follow the traditional style of these franchises then F-Zero.

Why are you all you counting your Famigold with single and double figure units? All you all really that poor?

I may have only 1 Famiboards Gold, but I am rich in spirit.
That and I like having weird trinkets on my profile. I had badges, and now I have gold as well!

Regular (non -strategy) RPG's? On Switch? Coming this year? It sure doesn't feel that way right now. Xeno 3 and Live A Live are the only RPG's until fall and even fall doesn't have much. Just Trails to Zero as of now.

We need more asap. Big names like Soul Hackers 2, One Piece Odyssey, Star Ocean 6 they're all skipping Switch this year, I hope we'll get some more Switch announcements to compensate for those. Like a Scarlet Nexus late port. Or that rumored FF9 remake. Give me all.
Maybe Dragon Quest III HD-2D will release this year... maybe ? But I'll take a FF9 remastered as well. Hope that SE will find a way to replicate the magic of the Moguri Mode, even though it will probably be harder for them to do better than the mod makers due to copyright laws and everything

Don't forget Final Fantasy Tactics. I'm looking forward to that one.

I specifically said "non-strategy" in my post, because for that genre, we're covered very well this year: Digimon Survive, Shadowrun Trilogy, Front Mission, Diofield, bunch of NIS remasters... FFT and Tactics Ogre remasters will be the cherry on top.

We need more regular RPG's. New games, remasters, re-releases, anything. After finishing .hack game, I'm down for even more PS2 era remasters. Praying for that leaked Namco-Nintendo remasters to be the Xenosaga trilogy...

Guess this is the week that I should make my probable final purchases on Wii U and 3DS eShops.

Edit: Actually the deadline for using a credit card is late May. For some reason I thought it was April.

Great, more consolidation coming....

:(
This actually isn't a consolidation move, but rather an investment firm looking to buy them out. Microsoft is definitely not in a position to due to the ABK investigations and Sony can't really afford them/manage them.

If you link your 3ds/Wii U account with the Switch Nintendo Account, you can still buy games until March next year.

Got such a great avatar lined up for when my watch has ended. Is it May 1st yet anywhere in the world? No? Shame.
No but I just made the header image for the thread. I also will be launching it at 9 PM Pacific on April 30 since that is when Nintendo digital titles release.

If you have your NNID linked to your Nintendo account and share your wallet, you’ll be able to add funds until the closure.

For all the things wrong with Ubisoft, and there are a ton, I still think they did a better job putting out quality games consistently, at least compared to other third party studios. They put out new Assassin Creed games out regularly and most were of at least decent quality. They put out three Watch Dog games in a generation and gave an earnest attempt to support a new IP. I heard the Far Cry games were pretty good. There's of course Mario + Rabbids. Sounds like I am being lukwarm to them and I kinda am, but it's like a situation like 2K where they stopped making GTA games altogether to focus on GTA Online or with Activision that literally moved all of their studios to making COD stuff. Ubisoft open world fatigue is definitely a thing but I guess all I'm saying is that things could have been worst. It's a shame that they are struggling, largely due to their own stupid management, and it would be a shame if nothing could be salvaged and then picked apart by vultures.

I just emailed an online publication about their RSS feed not working, instead of just, like, following them on twitter.

It's like I want more grey hairs in my beard or something.

Daily reminder

It's so beautiful! I predict it comes out in January.

I also think Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will get pushed to January.

Splatoon 3 should also move to January. It would be the perfect game for that time of year. We'll all be inside away from the cold and need video games to play, and it will be nice to have that sort of summery vibe that Splatoon gives off.

But they'll have to leave room for the other big January release, Breath of the Wild 2.

I wish nintendo got a part of ubi if that was possible. Rayman. Perhaps Rabbids and a few other forgotten ips. Bonus thry would finally own a few european studios and perhaps a few canadian. I mean, ubi is sellng for very cheap for their size.

I finally finished Future Connected.

It was….very meh. I like Melia so it was fun to return playing as her since playing Xenoblade 1, tired using her in 1 but the AI doesn’t like you very much and Shulk and do squat alone. But 1’s combat is so boring too that the added difficulty made things more fun for me a little bit lol. The area we go to isn’t interesting and the story was very much “nothing” in a way. Music was good tho and The cast did great, melia’s VA was actually an improvement then the base game where it was good in decent chunks and others like it was reading from the script.

Perhaps I’m missing the future connected part. But I didn’t get much of that other then the final boss. And a special conversation that makes more sense now lol.

All and all. Not much to say. It’s just a neat little epilogue. But Tyrea’s outfit just sucks lol

And Melia has the worst Walking animation that I can remember.

I don't think the full extent of the Future Connected part will come into focus until we play Xenoblade 3. But we can see from the latest trailer that the fog is going to play a part in 3. And Future Connected sets up the stage for where Melia will be when Xenoblade 3 starts.

I can already hear Vivendi circling around them again.

And Vivendi can fuck right off after all the damage they caused in the 90s and 00s during their stewardship of all the properties they acquired following the Cendant scandal which was the first step on the road to ABK.

Thank you very much, friend!

I must say, my dear Fami...working 9 hours on a Sunday after working 70 hours during the work week is decidedly NOT it
That's a big fat Oof from me, hopefully the week to come is a smidge less hectic workwise for everyone here haha

I think I missed most of the discussion about the next ST, but given how it looks like May and possibly June are going to be a bit on the light side, maybe a “musical interlude” theme is in order?

Totally agreed. Ubisoft has two big strengths; their IP's and man-power.

They already have tens of thousands of employees. By all accounts everything is just horribly unorganized. There is potential for a good version of Ubisoft to come out of this, hopefully....
