Doesn’t look like we have an amiibo ST here yet, so I’ll just post this here:

Finally got around to taking new photos of my and my partner’s 100% complete amiibo collection of all 828 currently released amiibo—that’s every single amiibo figure, card, plush, band, and cereal box!

Any other amiibo collectors here who go for 100%? Or even just anyone who still regularly collects amiibo at all? (Seems like most people stopped caring about amiibo in recent years, unfortunately…)

Ooh never knew the ending was different. I got every volume of Yu Yu Hakusho as a bundle on sale and haven’t read them yet. That makes me more interested in checking it out sooner than later.

It's more or less the same plotline, but in the manga it's much shorter and to the point, while the anime filled it with fights that happened off screen. The fights weren't the focus in the manga at all, it was all about the characters and closure for them.

The YuYu Hakusho manga is top tier, it's really good from start to finish. Very different atmosphere than usual too, it feels like a horror manga more than once, I think the anime toned that down a lot.

Yeah, it's clear from the people I follow on Twitter and see on places like Era that a lot of the love for Kingdom Hearts is the kind of deep, long-lasting love that a typical Harry Potter megafan has. One that's been built up over nearly their entire lifetime.

Like, I don't begrudge it but... damn, does it get a bit obnoxious at times lol. I don't know whether KH love or Final Fantasy VII love is worse in how much it makes me want to just say "YES, I GET IT!"
Wait until Souls fans come of age

I liked KH for the gameplay even as a teenager (the story had me lost from the beginning). I haven't played 3 yet, but I think the gameplay is still enjoyable today, and if you like the Disney worlds that's another plus.

Both the manga and anime are great for different reasons but the anime's focus on battles fits the medium a lot better, so it makes sense that they included those. I think the anime does a better job giving an emotional sendoff to the characters than the manga, but ymmv.

This song still gives me chills:

In the manga, Genkai's death just feels sudden and has no real impact, compared to the anime where the big reunion scene at the beach hits hard.

I have the full Smash line (minus the Mii Fighters who I don’t consider a proper character) and a good handful of others (my only regret is not having Qbby). Don’t have an extra cool display that’s easy to share like yours though. I have a bunch on my desk and others on bookshelves. Definitely excited for Min-Min and the other last few Smash ones. Sad to see Amiibo winding down, but happy for my wallet lol. Was most pleased to have Nintendo merch that was affordable and somewhat easy to get of characters that don’t get a lot of love otherwise like Lucas and Shulk.

Sony were pretty clear about PS5 being the house of FF this gen , I don’t expect anything that’s isnt more than a remaster/direct port to make it to the Switch (or Xbox) , only PS5 and a year later PC (Epic ofc).

And it's offensive tbh. I've never been more interested in JRPGs than I am now, and it's solely because of Switch. Dragon Quest XI S was a dream game for me, and I just wasn't interested on playing it without handheld mode.

I'm maintaining a sliver of hope that with Final Fantasy VII Remake and it's sequels being a lock for exclusivity (Edit: and FFXVI), that Square will have sense enough to allow IX to live elsewhere. IX is just not quite the prestigious piece of PlayStation history that VII was.

Edit: and I recall the rumor was about them wanting that to happen. That assumes there’s not an effort from Nintendo to try to get some FF titles of their own. It’s not like Sony is the only company with rapport - I have to assume specs are the biggest hurdle for Nintendo given SE ambitions and perhaps the successor will improve things for a bit

The final scene in the anime is so good! Love it plays the back half of Smile Bomb.

Kingdom Hearts is a strange series for me personally.

I noticed that the love for the series today by many is the characters and story. While growing up, playing KH 1,2 and Chain of Memories endlessly. It was mainly the gameplay for me and the originals more focused story. KH 2 final mix is amazing and one of the most fun I’ve had playing a game. But the story and KH characters are terrible in my opinion. Poor story, poorly told and frankly uninteresting even tho it’s convoluted. The Disney aspect was okay but like the first suffered from it being very much just “here’s the movie references super shortened”. Yet KH 1 was just a bit better since the main villains were the Disney cast for the majority of the game.

It’s just a series that’s gone in a direction that I have no interest in that even my huge nostalgia for it can’t get me to even pay attention to the series. I’ll always recommend the first two titles for anybody asking about the series since I think they’re great games. Final mix making them better. KH2 critical mode Especially a must play for any JRPG action fan.

Hope IV makes people happy. I rather they re-release the GBA version of Chain Of Memories more then anything else lol

I think people are expecting a next gen remake. But if its comes out in the next 2 year its probably a multiplat game. If we consider the art direction, a simpler remake, Trial of Mana style, makes more sense.

Our display setup needs work actually, lol. It may look decent in the pictures but that’s because I just swapped out the amiibo for each photo and used the same display stand and everything. XD For the last couple years they’ve just kinda all been shoved in two big display cases haphazardly since they don’t all fit properly into the space we have anymore. Eventually I hope to have some sort of better display setup for them, though. =P

And aww, no Mii Fighters?! Those are literally my favorites when it comes to Smash, lol. Kinda wish we had new Ultimate versions of them, too (and every other fighter that has a new design in Ultimate, really).

I love the Mii Fighters in game to be clear. Bought a bunch of outfits and stuff too. I just feel since those three aren’t my Mii I don’t have the same attachment, though I can see how they work for others as representatives.

Which anime series should I watch, friends? Needs to be easily available in the United Kingdom of Plague Islands and Clown Cars.

The only anime series I've watched are Neon Genesis Evangelion, Castlevania, and Vinland Saga.

Sneaky edit - a friend in the Real World (omg) has recommended Violet Evergarden.
Not sure what's available in the UK, but some of my favorite series (that haven't already been mentioned) are:
  • Honey and Clover
  • Haibane Renmei
  • Azumanga Daioh
  • The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (and its finale movie)
  • Nana (although it kinda ends without an ending, as the author never finished the manga)
  • FLCL
Newer stuff I enjoyed:
  • Barakamon
  • Your Lie in April

Not sure if you're sticking strictly to series or if you'd be interested in movies, but just in case you can't go wrong with the works of
  • Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika)
  • Makoto Shinkai (Voices of a Distant Star, Your Name, Weathering With You)
  • Mamoru Hosada (The Girl Who Kept Through Time, Mirai, Belle)

Even if it sucks from the players perspective it’s sadly makes sense for Sony , they lack their own JRPG franchise (Nintendo has Pokemon/Xenoblade/Fire Emblem) due to relying on square always for it during the ps1-ps2 era (and they were Sony exclusives at the time).

Japanese 3rd party support has been always the PS strength it has had over Xbox and what kinda saved PS3 over Xbox360 domination ,now that that FF/KH and the other big Japanese titles are viable to make multiplatform they lost that big advantage they had over Xbox so to kinda gain it back they are money hatting the biggest 3rd party JRPG franchise in the West that also has a huge history in Sony so it ‘makes sense’ .

I have been pessimistic about FF IX but SoP being multiplataform day 1 has brought me some hope that maybe it’s multiplat but maybe it was just a case of Sony not being interested on paying for SoP lol

Hopefully we'll have indies this week... It's not like i'm running out of games (currently playing FF X which was in my backlog since last year, and i'll dive deeper into the 3DS library after i'm done with FE Awakening), but all this silence right now is annoying. We need some Nintendo news to shake things up a bit

I recommend Space Battleship Yamato: 2199 (might be called Starblazers 2199 depending on your region). It's a remake of the original from the 70s. It's a fun sci-fi adventure that has some inventive battle that really play with the battleships but in space concept.

Sorry if I haven’t posted as much as usual. I’ve had a renewed enjoyment of games and serious about that backlog.

Not sure what I’ll tackle next once I’m done with XC2. Maybe skyward sword, who knows

Nah I get it, lol, I just gotta express my love of the Mii Fighter amiibo since it seems like a lot of people don’t care about them as much. =p

Oh I know it makes sense for them - in Sony’s shoes I’d be trying to do the same. But as I said in my last edit, they aren’t speaking to Square in a bubble, and Nintendo is as important as they’ve ever been in Japan and globally. I feel like there must be limits to what Square will be willing to make exclusive to PS5, especially with how slow allotment has been in Japan.

Anyway I said I wasn’t going to be hopeful yet here I am glass-half-full on the subject

Damn. Didn’t know Nintendo had a warehouse in north bend. I just drove by that place last weekend. I can’t imagine any security guard being able to afford to live within 30 miles of that location unfortunately (they don’t even give the salary range which actually is going to be state law next year for all job postings if the company is greater than 15 people).

I got into anime during the 90s. A lot of my favourite series are from around that time (and the early 2000s):

Serial Experiments Lain
Texhnolyze
Berserk
Fruits Basket
Martian Successor Nadesico
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Monster
Great Teacher Onizuka
Crest of the Stars
Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
Excel Saga
His and Her Circumstances
FLCL

That warehouse is filled with all the finished physical copies of Breath of the Wild 2, Bayonetta 3, Xenoblade 3, Metroid Prime 4, and Mother 3 Remake that Nintendo sitting on. You have to defend it with your life if you get the job.

There's nothing quite like spending years looking at Nintendo job listings, never being qualified for them because of specific education/experience requirements, then seeing an opening for a security guard position, looking it up, and finding I still don't meet their damn requirements. 😅
eight years of college and I'm probably gonna be working at Lowe's for the rest of my life, yall

See, if "must be willing to give life to defend Nintendo games" was on their list of requirements, I'd actually qualify. LOL

One of the most underrated features of the Switch I feel is the ability to play with one Joycon each in tabletop/tablet mode.

Some may scoff at the idea of playing with just one Joycon, but the amount of times I've seen kids playing like this at the autism dinners I attended for work, and how quickly this can turn into a whole group of kids all passing the Joycons around and having an ad hoc games night with just one system is really something. I wonder how many of those kids then went on to ask their parents for one of their own.

For me, the best Nintendo systems are the ones that bring people together, from tag team Donkey Kong Country on the SNES, to 4 player splitscreen on the N64, to Wii Sports nights, and now this.

I'm primarily a solo player myself, but some of my fondest memories of gaming are of couch multiplayer with friends, family, and partners.

Even 5+ years down the line, it still just strikes me sometimes how genius the concept of the Switch is. I really hope they stick with this format going forwards, and simply improve things like build quality, power, etc.

Really satisfying chunky build, I can see why the line is doing well. No PC jointing is always interesting engineering. Some Gundam marker touch up required of course

And since it’s always fun to have a size reference (even if this one is 1/72 vs the 1/144 of the other 2)

Although if Jeeg here had his classic height he’s actually be roughly in the same scale

What no Escaflowne, Magic Knight Rayearth or Shin Getter Robo Armageddon?

Fami, I'm struggling to play Skyward Sword. I think it's so charming and the art style is beautiful, but I can't get with the control scheme. I've been playing with the motion controls and it was fine for the first hour, but after 3 hours, my arms hurt. The more I played with the motion controls, the more I found things I didn't like. I keep having to re-center the gyro (it's wicked bad).

I then switched to playing with my pro controller and I found that to be even worse. I'm getting really close to dropping it and just watching a playthrough. The music is really good and I love the art. But if this is what it's gonna play like, I'm just gonna move on to Breath of the Wild (2nd attempt to get into it).

Sorry for the late night rant. Hope everyone had a good weekend and here's to another week!

Went to the target grooming aisle today and they now have a Manscaped display. There is a specific shaving cream for the groin area. My mind was blown. I feel that Nate and MVG need to speak more to this specific product so others can learn of it.

"Where do you want these Switch Pros, boss?"
"I don't know. Just toss them somewhere between the copies of F-Zero AX and Golden Sun 4."
"Got it boss!"

ClassicFootballShirts is donating all proceeds from Ukraine-related purchases to Ukrainian relief funds, so naturally I had to buy a Dynamo Kyiv home kit from the 2019-2020 season. I get to add to my collection of kits and help a good cause all at the same time!

Use the pad controls for most gameplay and motion controls for boss fights. That's the way to roll

They are as modern as any other Japan publisher imo , what makes you think they are still in the past? Especially when you consider their focus on PC and the effort they have put in online and mobile games. Nowdays I think Sega has lost what made them unique the arcade aspect and it's now just a company more even if they have a couple of great franchises. (I'm talking Sega Japan only , Sega Europe/Atlus are quite independent and different)
Imagine if Mario’s last games had Metacritic scores on par with Kanye’s last few albums, to the point that Mario’s mindshare gets mostly associated with the movie. That’s how washed up Sega is, it’s actually insulting. I didn’t say that they were in the past, I just meant that they are completely out of touch with the industry. They literally have the IPs to carry a whole console by themselves yet they are reduced to milk Yakuza and parrot investor-bait trends like the ones mentioned. The fact that they actually lost a lot of their identity is actually a big deal, you don’t really see that from the other big Japanese pubs. On top of that, as this is a Nintendo forum it’s pretty alarming to see how poorly they supported the Switch despite it selling so well worldwide.

I legit think they are even worse than post-Kojima Konami. At least they release retro collections sometimes, Sega legit gives us 5 ways to play Sonic 2 all over again but ignores the rest of their back catalog because “the 2012 Dreamcast ports on 360/PS3/Vituh didn’t sell well”
