I have to say I'm really liking Link's new default design. It's probably my second favorite, with TP being first and oot being third.

if they skip the game at E3 i'm gonna be sad...
even if it's not launching this year, they can still show a chunky trailer and reveal the title at E3.

What's everyone's take on the Master Dagger?

I think it got corrupted by malice along with Link's right arm, as seen in the previous trailer, and it is now sort of broken, but I still think it'll be a key feature in the gameplay somehow.

Maybe a hint at weapon reforgery?

I believe a Zeldatuber a while ago, maybe it was Zeltik, made an observation about the arches as seen in trailer 2, how they resemble the restoration in the shinto religion or something along those lines., Maybe Link's recovery will be a huge part of the story?

Regardless, I think Link getting messed up by malice is a great plot way to bring him back to 3 hearts and no items. And the whole "become strong again to face off the big bad" will be the setup again.
The Master Sword has been corrupted and must be purified like it was in the Era of the Goddess Hylia/Sky Era via the Sacred Flames.

The Breath of the Wild DLC was already in a way heading towards this. Since in the Master Trials we had seen how the Sheikah Monks had sealed the power that Hylia's blessing provided to the blade in Skyward Sword. Now, we finish the "circle" and must repurify it so it can achieve its true form once more. As noted, the blue shine coming from the blade gives it a similar coloration to the Goddess Sword. Which is fitting, as the latter is suggested to be a "impure" version of the True Master Sword. Quite probable that what we are seeing in the trailer is someone reverting the blade to a past form (Goddess Sword?) to stabilize it while Link repurifies it.

You’ll get your 10 sec of new footage & like it. Or less is they go the Arc System style of trailer.

Corrupted Fi fanart time

spoiler alert! zelda dies
I think Fi was and will always be a one off thing and because of Skyward Sword and the universal hate for Fi for being annoying. I don't think they want to touch that character again.

But damn, do I like that idea. I'd love to see Ghirahim and Fi back. Give Ganondorf some plotline that the reason why he always lost was because of the Master Sword and the solution was to we obtain Ghirahim or give it the official name Demise Sword or something and that's why the Master Sword broke into the Master Dagger and became corrupted.

Evil Fi and needs to be purified, but a twist that Fi has to be killed and replace with a new spirit to bring back the Master Sword. (Would be cool if the last minute twist is Link himself becomes the sword and Zelda finishes off Ganondorf).

So many fun ideas they can do.

While as a full on character through a game, she is indeed probably a one off thing, but we could see her play part of some smaller parts. Afterall, BotW already showed the Zelda team isn't afraid to bring her back for at least for some small callbacks. Since we had Zelda asking Link if he could hear the sword's voice, "the voice" noting to Zelda that Link could still be saved, and her sound effect could be heard once finishing the Master Trials. So, something could take place in BotW2 with her, specially in relation to how she has awoken once more.

They're delaying to add playable Zelda and selectable pronouns.

Believe.

Only thing I expect Nintendo to do is the continue commenting about the sword's voice or hearing Fi's sound effect for the master sword in future games and that's it. Just small little nods.

I still think the whole idea of Sword Spirits is cool and would love to see Ganondorf obtain Ghirahim/Sword of Demise as his counter to the Master Sword. I really just want Ganondorf to wise up and start being more pro-active role in the plot, see him take down civilizations you visited first hand in defeat, see him negotiate or intimidate people first hand and feel powerless to stop him like it was in OOT when you were just a kid looking at him through a window or blasting through on his horse chasing Impa/Zelda.

Stop with this mustache twirling villain and give us that Ganondorf we had in Wind Waker that had more nuance.

I want to see his story come full circle to an end with him actually learning from his mistakes and or trying to change the status quo. Or realizing he is a curse from Demise and he's stuck in a endless reincarnation cycle with Link and wants to attempt to break that cycle.

It does tie up with the recent rumor that the title will be Breath of Duality and that it's about light and dark, present and past, ground and sky

If there is a god, please let us go see the Minish like in the concept art... and throw Termina in there as well through a side quest.

Fuck it, Lorule too.

Breath of The Wild: Welcome to the Multiverse

His statement was very curious. Many ways to read into it and he absolutely said that to stir up speculation and excitement. I truly believe this game will be much bigger and more ambitious then the previous trailers show. When the full reveal happens, I think our minds will be blown. I am thinking massive sky cities, full dungeons, under water exploration, boats and activity on the ocean, underground ruins, etc. Basically going from GTA 3 to GTA San Andreas in terms of scope. Hope I'm right! :)

VACUUM OF THE VOID

how's that for an edgy fan title?

EDIT: there was concept art for spaceships in the Creating a Champion book... Then again, there was also concept art for rocker link so yeah xD

Barely related, but something I just hadn't really considered: If this game contains a lot of the same stuff as BOTW and then plenty more, I suppose this will be the first first-party game to release on a card beyond 16GB.

I love the 'however', as if he were directly answering people on forums questioning if it was just Hyrule + Skylands.

I'm already expecting underground areas. Phasing mechanic seems especially suited to that.

I'm wondering if parts of the continent outside of Hyrule Kingdom will be accessible. Beyond Gerudo and Hebra, or beyond the ocean past Eventide. Pure insanity.

So the 3 Goddess are actually 3 Aegis... :O
Probably parallels and all that. The Aegis’s are theoretically based on the Holy Trinity with Alvis/Ontos (The Father), Malos/Logos (The Son), and Pyra/Mythra/Pneuma (The Holy Spirit). The Greek names translate to “being”, “logic”, and “breath”, which support the parallels. Likewise, the roles of the creation Goddeses invoke Din as the creator of the physical world, Nayru as the creator of the natural order governing the world, and Farore as the giver of life that embodies the world.

I'd really like to see sailing that amounts to more than waving that damn leaf at a sheet strung up on a raft.

They are reusing the same map though... you're just getting two additional maps on top (Sky) and below (Underworld) added on too!
So they aren't just using the same map, which some people concern trolled about.
And even that map won't be 1 to 1 the same.

They could have a dark world version of the entire map. And that would rule (and make sense for a Zelda game).

Don't forget the triforce was also supposed to be a cpu

I don’t really know what to make of Aonuma’s comments but I will always Yeah! a Tim Curry Red Alert reference/gif when I see it.

THAT'S RIGHT. The pieces Link was hunting down in Zelda 1 were initially gonna be microchips. It was gonna be one of those "it looks like a medieval setting but actually it's the distant future of a ruined advanced technological society" things just like.. uh.. other anime and games I like that I won't spoil. 👀

Anyone else thinking that if there is three planes/areas IE sky, ground, underground that the main thing to do in the game will be to find a triforce in each part?

That's a cool idea but Zelda has the full Triforce herself in the end of BotW, it's not split like it has been in WindWaker and Twilight Princess.

They can't just dump the entire BotW1 map in this and say "here you go" anyway, the shrines and towers were a huge component of driving exploration in the first game (e.g. seeing a shrine in a distance and improvising a way to travel there). There's no signs of shrines and towers in this game, the Shiekah tech appear to have no presence at all. I doubt you start from the Great Plateau, either.

It's this.
Ooo kind of like this:

Would be cool if we can dive anywhere from the sky island to world below and then instantly glide to wherever we want to go. Wonder if we will get loftwings too.

What if they saw Spider Man and thought they can do that too.
And then we play Link from multiple timelines.
Oh wait they did this with Warriors already JK

So what if the Master Sword will never be properly restored to its former form, but instead whatever power he is capable of weilding through his transformed right arm allows Link to still utilise it to its full capabilities after some point in the game.
