Why read Harry Potter when you can read the vastly superior Percy Jackson series? Or Carry On? Or Ms Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children? Or literally any other young adult novel that has come out in the last 20 years?

I feel bad for the devs working on Hogwarts Legacy. Too bad they aren't working on like a Blade Runner RPG or a Matrix game.

New page so I wanted to remind everyone that She Who Shall Not Be Named can go fuck herself.

Trans rights are human rights.

My new dream game is a Castlevania that features a huge world to explore like Elden Ring but it all takes place inside Dracula's castle. A massive, seemingly endless fortress with tons of secrets.

Something like Lament of Innocence cranked up to a thousand.

OK, we know the Playstation was originally a partnership between Nintendo and Sony, and Nintendo embarrassed Sony by making a deal with Phillips.
I've heard that Nintendo did this because they disliked the contract Sony gave them that said that Sony would take most of the money for the project. Are there any sources for this?

I've never been a big fan of 3D Castlevanias, but you know... if you made it more of a Souls-like (at least in terms of combat, maybe a bit faster like a Sekiro or Nioh), meshed that with classic metroidvania upgrades that actually feel meaningful (again, like the swim ability in Sekiro), put it in a giant open castle but still blocked some things off with the metroidvania abilities to some degree, and kept the jamming tunes blaring for different regions in the castle, I think that'd be fantastic.

Why read at all when you can play a videogame?

Particularly a videogame with a lot of reading like 999.

Good deals for the 3DS games

I take it those are all the games I should be looking to snap up soon.

Great Ace Attorney is perilously close to ending. Need to have more Ace Attorney going forward.

Then I can read the TV Tropes pages without fear of spoilers.

They are all on iOS if you prefer that way, but this price is pretty great. The 3DS developed games have DLC, so there is that to consider as well (1 case each and some other stuff that’s not really necessary).

Chaos is going on my "get when deeply discounted" list.

Except I have purchased a grand total of 0 games from that list in the past 25 years.

I need a Max Joystick. TWIN TURBO BUTTONS FOR RAPID REPEAT FIRING ACTION. I could use some of that right now.

I did a google and there are a few articles talking about how the big problem with the deal was Sony retaining publishing/manufacturing rights to the CD-ROM format they developed, while Nintendo wanted to own the tech and require developers to purchase the PlayStation CDs from them instead of Sony.

But

There was a documentary about the early days of video games (there there a few over the past couple years, I forget if it was Console Wars, Playing With Power, or High Score) that said the reason the partnership fell apart was because of Sony wanting to develop games, bit just the system. In the beginning Nintendo's belief was that Sony would only manufacture the hardware and would leave the software to Nintendo. But when it became known that Sony was trying to start up a game studio, and would therefore be competing with Nintendo on their shared system, it pissed Yamauchi off, he considered it a backstab, and then pulled out without telling them so the Phillips partnership would be a public slap in the face as retaliation.

Though I don't know anymore if that's accurate because even though it was in the doc, I see no articles outlining that angle of the story at all.

Wow, I wish we had that 3DS TV out. Switch has spoiled me.
I remember seeing NoA employees or temps demoing Animal Crossing New Leaf using something similar. It was a jerry-rigged through a Wii if I recall correctly. I was so jealous of that setup.

thank you for whoever recommended Rusty's Real Deal Baseball the other day. Very charming. If I didn't get to play this before the eshop shut down I'd regret it on my death bed.

When do you think will be the new Smash Tournament planed by Nintendo and that new partner? Around E3?

Saw Batman, and I really enjoyed it. It was a gorgeous film, with each frame carefully constructed and complimented by the best score from Michael Giacchino that I've heard in some time. This is a Gotham that actually has the necessary romantic qualities to make it alluring—that make it a city where we can understand why people would stay in spite of all of its infinite decay. It'd be easy to critique aspects of the script (and trust me, I have those nitpicks, like how they wrapped up the police storyline and some other muddy story beats), but all the same I found it a really satisfying viewing experience. Some scenes felt ripped out of my own imagination, and it was a relief to see how they actually approached Batman himself. I'm excited about this IP again on the film front, which I didn't really think was going to happen.

Just going full throttle towards that cyberpunk dystopia.

Just wait until apartment complexes put auto locks on every door and then lock you out when you are late on rent/utilities…definitely not a fun future.

On the other hand this would be handy if you’re vehicle was stolen. Not sure that’s worth the other bad things that can happen though.

Is the AA trilogy different than the other 3 games? I got Dual Destinies and Spirit.
Yes, the trilogy contains the first three games, which were originally released on GBA from 2001 to 2004. These games were planned as a trilogy. A few years later they made AA4, which is titled Apollo Justice overseas, and then after a big gap they continued the mainline series on 3DS with Ace Attorney 5 (Dual Destinies) and 6 (Spirit of Justice). All games include Phoenix Wright, but AA4-6 also focus on other new characters.

To anyone who knows, how's the Ace Attorney trilogy on 3DS versus the Switch version?
Basically the same, but they remade the UI on Switch and ironed out a few visual issues and typos.

Anyone recommend Ghosts and Goblins Resurrections? It is $20 on the eshop and I'm pretty sure any chance for a physical copy has long passed.

Depends on if you like that kind of game. Ressurection is a hard as nails kind of run n gun and that's your thing, you'll have a blast with it. I know I did.

I liked it but it didn't grab me like Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins on the PSP did (talking about the most "recent" entries I mean). I think $20 for it is fair, though.

Thanks. I have been meaning to get into the series.(y)

TIL that Sega and Bandai almost merged in 1997.

Do you think Sega would have stayed in the console race if the merge happened? Remember that Bandai had the rights to DBZ games, which I think would have made a difference for the Dreamcast. DBZ was absolutely HUGE when I was in elementary school.
