I'm still playing Elden Ring and I decided to download Dicey Dungeons, Outer Wilds and GotG is on Gamepass in 3 days.. the series s is taking all my time these past days.

“Let me get this straight, you think that BotW2 is going to be called Breath of the Darkness?”

“I do, and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.”

So there's a plan to make a new "Direct Speculation" thread soon? The NGS threads moves too fast for me keeping up with other like the Future Hardware one... :p

Anyway, Kirby demo is amazing, it put a smile on me the whole time and very fun to play... even considering getting it!

Just for completion's sake, here's Kirby Cover Up with the winning date...

Pricing game #2 gets posted in an hour, and this time I won't be giving the answer in the post!

I liked everything about botw. Didn't have an issue with the weapon durability or the dungeons. The only thing I would have really liked was bigger more populated towns

Pricing Game #2
It's time for pricing game number 2 of ST6; debuted in 1976, and sadly ultimately retired in 1983, it's Hurdles!

Hurdles-Start.png

The rules of the game are simple; I'm going to describe three sets of two grocery items, representing the hurdles above. One of the items in each set of hurdles is priced lower than the target price on the hurdler, which is set at $4 on the nose, the other is higher than the target price, and will cause the hurdler to knock it over and be disqualified from the race. To win the game, simply pick the three grocery items, one in each set of hurdles, that is lower than the target price on the hurdler, which again is $4.

And here are the grocery items!

HURDLE SET 1
It's a 14.5oz can of fresh cut green beans!
It's a 27oz spray bottle of Febreeze Extra Strength Fabric Odor-Eliminating Refresher!

HURDLE SET 2
It's a 3.52oz bar of standard Toblerone!
It's a 25.3oz party size package of Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies!

HURDLE SET 3
It's a box of four sticks of salted butter!
It's a 100 count bottle of 200mg Motrin Ibuprofen!

As always, you can just ignore this game if you aren't interested in playing, that's totally fine! A new poll will be added to the thread tomorrow, and I will let anyone who played along with Hurdles know if you won or lost the day before I post the third pricing game of the thread!

Thank you for a wonderful first week of ST6!

Do we just say the items?

green beans, Toblerone, butter

I played fair too (I do all the grocery shopping and am price conscious) and didn’t price it on an app (which I will now do).

shout out to you for doing this wild and wacky shit

shout out to me for never once having seen The Price Is Right and being beyond fucking bewildered trying to wrap my head around what’s going on here and the fact that there’s an entire long-running game show where these are the bits

Imagine my pain when I had to pick three games for this thread… out of 112.

I am taking this as an opportunity to do a ranking of the indie Metroidvanias I've played.

1. Hollow Knight
2. Ori and the Will of the Wisps
3. Ender Lilies
4. Monster Sanctuary (I'm actually not sure where this one actually goes. The combat in this game is just absolutely stellar but everything else is fairly mediocre. I put it here as a compromise)
5. The Messenger
6. Monster Boy
7. Ori and the Blind Forest
8. Guacamelee 1/2
9. Axiom Verge - this is where it starts getting into games I'm more mixed on
10. Blasphemous
11. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

3-6 are fairly close and I waffled over the positions of each. It's probably more technically a 4-way tie for third.
Great list, and I’ve played most of these (not Monster Boy or The Messenger), so I’ll shamelessly use it to add my thoughts:

IMO, Monster Sanctuary is like 95% monster team builder and combat and like 5% metroidvania, so I don’t think I’d put it here. Likewise Blasphemous is mostly a Souls-like, and since I think every single metroidvania upgrade is optional I don’t think I’d count it either. But that’s just me being pedantic, it can totally still be classified as one.

I also tried out Guacamelee 1 and 2 but didn’t really get into them for whatever reason.

The only one I think you’re really missing would be Steamworld Dig 2, game is great and really unique with its setup and mechanics.

My list after thinking some more (these are all games I really like):

1) Hollow Knight
2) Ender Lilies
3) Axiom Verge 1
4) Steamworld Dig 2
5) Bloodstained

Ori 1 and 2 would be just outside top 5; I like them both but for whatever reason they don’t really stick with me as much as these others (other than a few moments where they hit you in the feels).

You know, I'm really curious to go back and play the original version of Crash 1 instead of the N.Sane Trilogy version. A lot of people point out that the pill-shaped hitbox of Crash's feet and the more Crash 2 and 3 like physics make Crash 1 a lot harder and less precise, and I wonder how that would feel in practice. I really gotta dig out my old disks and rip them.

For what it's worth, I like Crash 1 even though it's rough around the edges and the 100% completion in the original is a bit much. 2 and 3 are better though I'd love to complete them in their original forms at some point. I'll one day get to more than just a world through Crash 4, but I just...can't turn off my 100% completion brain for Crash, and Crash 4 makes full completion miserable.

Assuming you live in the US, my answers would be
green beans, Toblerone, salted butter
Slipped on the stairs. Twisted my ankle. In the hospital on a Monday night..

fun!
Yikes. Hope you'll get well soon!

something new happened?
No, no, just for me.
I've been banned for a week, and what's wonderful is that they sent me both a warning and a ban at the same time lol.

The last time I was banned without warning I was a sexist because I said I found Sanji funny in one piece, now I'm spreading misinformation about the vaccine because I said I wasn't going to vaccinate my kids. I almost lost friends because I was fighting against their antivax bullshits...

This forum is becoming really intolerant and mods are almighty and arbitrary. It's just not worth it to tackle some subjects...

how big are your pants

alternately how inhumane is femme pocket sizing because I’ve got bona fide frog legs yet my pockets barely hold the world’s tiniest wallet and the shortest tenable iPhone

not in the same pocket even

what’re y’all sportin’ like some leg SUVs?
The blackmilk cargo pants have my allegiance for pocket space now

i've just stopped visiting there since having my account deleted and i don't miss it. even when i was there i never really browsed etc tho.

Honestly I kind of just want it to be called: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild - Chapter II
i want them to keep "of the wild" and replace breath with another word

Wait, if you don't mind me asking, why aren't you going to vaccinate your kids?

"Wait, if you don't mind me asking, why aren't you visiting Era?"

"Sorry, I'll avoid the subject if you don't mind..."

Legit I can’t think of a single example of an E-Rated mainstream big-budget game covering the kind of themes Majora’s Mask did in the front-and-centre way it did it. It’s truly one-of-a-kind and I love it for that (and hate that we don’t get more of it…)
Reminds me of the Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon in that way, dealing with some serious topics in a kid-friendly manner - for example, through the use of some ambiguous text, like Skull Kid "getting rid" of Epona, or the Song of Healing appeasing "troubled spirits".

Majora also has lots of whimsy which my 8-yo (who was watching me play) latched unto much more than the existential dread.

(That opening was still really stressful though, where you have to wait until the final few hours of the final night to confront Skull Kid for the first time.)

Majora's opening in general is interesting. On one hand it weaves together the narrative and the "tutorial" for the time travel mechanic expertly. On the other hand it started the trend of Zelda games having drawn-out openings.
