most people around the world wont be listening to pratt anyway. tis the beauty of dubs.
Ding Ding Dingfinal prediction
miyamoto will be wearing another cool shirt
i seriously doubt they would call this a Direct when they would only show 90 second trailer. there's gotta be more talk around it.
You think I don’t realize that? The point isn’t to “take down Pratt”—it’s to spread awareness of the real issue with his casting. Sure, it may not have a huge effect all things considered at this point, but had these kind of things been more talked about and well known prior to the casting, Nintendo may have been more cautious about casting someone like Pratt if there was loud, active controversy surrounding him. And regardless, I think it’s important shit that people should know, especially when you’re going to have a whole new group of people start idolizing Pratt for playing Mario, and kids looking up to him for the role. People should know that this actor supports shit like extreme homophobia and white supremacy—he’ll deny it, of course, but his actions (which he tries to hide) have shown otherwise with what he chooses to support and associate himself with.I'm sorry but no one is going to take down Pratt from being a millionarie by being aware that he is a jerk. We have decades of criticism-proof Hollywood folks to show that no matter how much you want to wish upon a star and hope that people finding out gossip about them is going to ruin their career it just... doesn't happen. It is melodramatic to act like Pratt's karma will only ever caught up to him and turn him into a homeless man licking the streets for lime if we stop saying his performance sucks and instead turn it into a thread about him. Why I would argue that this board, due to being filled with geeks that spend time on the Internet, likely already has more people that are aware of his demeanor than most other groups of folks across the world.
Honestly, I should really do the same. It just pisses me off so fucking much to see people ignore this shit and not care, so I try to point it out where I can…but, as you said, this forum has already shown to be largely unreasonable about this topic so I should probably just not even bother anymore…Pratt's performance in that trailer is terrible even ignoring that he as a person is terrible; but after the previous thread for the first trailer i'm not convinced a lot of people on this forum are capable of reasonably discussing this subject, so i'm not getting into it again.
I think the implication that Mario "levels" just exist floating there is funny
Cranky was the Kong monarch sitting on his throne.
It's a change, but I'm getting to like it. I wouldn't mind this type of thing rolling over into the games. Especially if Kremlings are lurking around the corner as a rival "kingdom" for the Kongs!
One movie where I really wish the home video release had dub options. Most of the dubbed Mario versions sound great - Pratt sounds like the director told him "act mildly annoyed at everything you see," like that played out "grumpy self-aware" schtick you see so much in American TV/movies nowadays.most people around the world wont be listening to pratt anyway. tis the beauty of dubs.
Oiiiiii, I noticed that, too. I plan to finally buy something good next year, and this movie could be the first thing I use to test it out.
- The colors are poooopin. Feels like this will at least look great in Cinemas (or with a good OLED TV)
FRANCE IS HERE TO SAVE THE DAY!!!!!
LISTEN TO THAT WHAHOO
IT'S PERFECT
But that just further contributes to the discourse around the voice drowning out the more important criticism of Pratt. People should absolutely be talking about the other shit first and more than Pratt’s performance, wherever possible, because otherwise it’s just going to continue to be drowned out and swept under the rug. Again, just look at the ratio of criticisms about Pratt in this very thread—it’s still very much mostly about the voice acting than anything else, and this is a place where Pratt’s issues are actually more well known than most; just imagine how bad it is elsewhere where hardly anyone has been made aware of Pratt’s shittiness.Oh, no, I think more and more, people have been able to walk and chew bubblegum in a case like this.
It's just that for the sake of some people who would ALWAYS want to default to "Y U GOTTA BRING POLITICS/HIS PERSONAL BELIEFS INTO THIS?!", it's far easier to convey just how crappy his actual performance is. Then feel free to loop in the other stuff.
I'm starting to believe this; just a cameo, but she's the ruler of Sarasaland; the suspicious looking desert and the map tells me that much;surely Daisy will be in this
At this point, I think it's simply a matter of being "strategic" with your outrage and disdain. What causes Pratt supports and who he associates with? Obviously, yes, that's very important. And awareness is important, too.But that just further contributes to the discourse around the voice drowning out the more important criticism of Pratt. Ed Skudder, head of story for the mario movie, seems super happy about how it is turning out.
I’m not saying anyone should stop criticizing him for his performance, just that a lot more people need to start criticizing the other shit alongside it at the very least, which isn’t really happening much at all right now.At this point, I think it's simply a matter of being "strategic" with your outrage and disdain. But if you get enough people to keep on meme-ing about how much he and his voice acting SUCKS, it's the kind of thing that will spread in a viral fashion more than anything else. And thinned-skin individuals being as they are, it's the kind of thing they'll surely notice.
Dude got his fee-fees hurt just because Twitter "elected" him as the "Worst Chris" two years ago, to the point that portions of his "Marvel family" had to rush to his defense.
Didn’t see a thread yet so figured I should make one. New trailer tomorrow. At 2pm PT/ 5pm ET. I am cautiously optimistic after the first trailer, looks like we’ll be seeing Peach this time around.
I mean true, but I still wanted to post the tweet here anyway. Not to take away from your point, but this is a marketing tweet lol. Nobody who worked on the movie is gonna say "dang this doesn't look very good"
I have mixed feelings on what I hear from Miyano Mamoru in this trailer. On the one hand, I've no doubt he's capable of deliverying energy/exuberance when needed. On the other hand, I think that in my head, I've forever type casted him in seemingly younger male roles. I did not expect him to voice Mario. If they put Kremlings in these movies I'll retract any complaints i have about the portrayal of the kongs and erect a statue of Miyamoto
Well, I won't, but I'll think about it

Japanese Mario sounds odd though. Overly moody and restrained. Which makes sense I guess because he's played by Chrollo Lucilfer.
Also...Sakurai? Feel free to take notes~!
We need more pole-arm users in Smash, anyway.
Yep.Someone else put it best a while ago but...even things that were abound in the 80s and 90s would be too "woke" for putzes like this.
There’s a reason why Tails maintaining his voice actor in Sonic 2 vs all of the other characters being celebrity cast was celebrated. Voice only actors deserve more respect and higher pay, that’s folks point.Still seeing people elsewhere say they should have had voice actors instead of actors do these parts, and it's like, what do you think voice actors are? Was listening to a great podcast the other day, I Hear Voices, hosted by Christy Carlson Romano and Will Freddie, both of Kim Possible fame, and every guest they have on, to a person, says if you want to get into voice acting you should get into acting first.
Another thing is that the ideal should be to utilize talent that has also has decent some voice talent chops, and not just big names for the sake of just getting a recognizable Hollywood personality attached to your project.Still seeing people elsewhere say they should have had voice actors instead of actors do these parts, and it's like, what do you think voice actors are? And yet people were mad at sonic frontiers…I think the implication that Mario "levels" just exist floating there is funny
Colleen has a degree in theatre. Do you think she did absolutely no acting prior to becoming a VA?There’s a reason why Tails maintaining his voice actor in Sonic 2 vs all of the other characters being celebrity cast was celebrated. Holy shit that's really interestingA lot of interesting differences between the two trailers.
I didn’t have to go for the double but then I did.A lot of interesting differences between the two trailers.
I did not say as such. A better term might have been non-celebrity voice actors for my intended point.Colleen has a degree in theatre. Do you think she did absolutely no acting prior to becoming a VA?
Guarantee it's a 100% hit rateI didn’t have to go for the double but then I did.
i am inside of your wallsA lot of interesting differences between the two trailers.
It is beyond rude for someone to dismiss you in providing background as to why Pratt should not be supported. Folks in this thread here clearly acted like it was only ever about his voice, then when you provide context you’re gaslit and basically recommended to stop talking about it for cause of it being pointless to. Of course no conversation here in our tiny community is going to overthrow a million dollar deal– that doesn’t make it any less important. Thank you for sharing.Honestly, I should really do the same. It just pisses me off so fucking much to see people ignore this shit and not care, so I try to point it out where I can…but, as you said, this forum has already shown to be largely unreasonable about this topic so I should probably just not even bother anymore…
That dynamic actually kind of works. It wouldn't feel out if place in the games. Also, I dig that LUIGI may be the damsel, this time, around.
... hasn't that been the lore since at least Super Mario 64? I definitely recall staring off into the endless void.I think the implication that Mario "levels" just exist floating there is funny
