Well, an XBOX port just got announced, so maybe a Switch 2 port?
Ah, I forgot about the news about the Xbox version. (From what I'm finding, I'm only seeing an ESRB leak and not an official announcement. Perhaps it'll be at the upcoming ID@Xbox IGN showcase?) I didn't realize there were signs of activity around the game. In that case, I totally agree about a Switch 2 port being possible.

Similarly, Jedi: Survivor randomly having announced PS4/XB1 versions is a reason I suspect that game is being ported to Switch 2.

If your concern was screen resolution on the 3DS, then you weren’t really doing yourself any favors by not using 3D, because the resolution is literally doubled width-wise on 3DS in 3D mode due to the autostereoscopic screen with its half-width pixels sending a 400x240 resolution image to each eye, creating an effectively 800x240 image. You’re literally seeing a bigger, better picture in 3D mode, and you lose that in 2D mode.

Also, the relatively low resolution worked in the 3DS’s favor when it came to its capability to display 3D, because two viewpoints have to be rendered at once for 3D, and it’s a whole lot easier to render two 400x240 viewpoints at once than it is to render two 1920x1080 viewpoints. I say this as someone who would very much like to see the return of autostereoscopic 3D on a new Nintendo system, too, but I recognize it would be rather difficult to realistically implement, unfortunately…
NVIDIA discontinued 3D Vision some years ago, but they could bring back a custom version for Nintendo.

TBF some games did super-sampling in 2D mode, like OoT 3D. So in that case you weren't losing pixels.

There were also some games that just performed so badly in 3D that the improved framerate was worth losing 3D, lol

3D Vision was great to have in the driver for playing stuff in stereo 3D that wasn't even built with it in mind, but probably unnecessary if all of a console's games were built with stereo 3D being standard.

X Y Z is funny to think about, but the (last) X in Xenoblade X was supposed to be "cross". I can imagine Y having another shape-based meaning, but less sure about Z.
I have only played the Xenoblades and this isn't a shape, but perhaps they could subtitle it Zohar? I've seen that term pop up in Xeno discussions.

But, if they've decided to change meanings cus it's been a while, "Xenoblade Why" is a perfect name for a follow up to X

Oh, I didn't know about that, but it was still to low for me, even if you go into the details like "it was actually better with the 3D on because the resolution was doubled". To my eyes, it was still looking bad, and added to the very small screen. This is one of the reasons I stopped playing my 3DS very early in its lifespan, the screen was too small and the console itself was just too small while I was becoming an adult. That's why I hope the Switch 2 buttons are even bigger than the Switch 1.

Deep Down, I think we already know the answer to that question.

I sometimes randomly think about the moment my Switch 2 and a launch game get delivered at my home.

Having a day off, excited to recieve my package. House is cleaned, chores are done. Hearing the door bell ring. Opening up that box. Setting it up. Hearing a jingle and looking at the main screen. Opening up the game, smelling that fresh game smell. Popping it in. Getting a hot drink and a snack. Press A. Hmmmm, yes.

Does anyone have a 'new console day' ritual?

I don't really remember going through that...but now you're giving me ideas.

May 7th expectations. Yes we have a new console, full reveal coming soon!

Nintendo: We can confirm we will sell more consoles and games than last year. I cannot go into details, please wait until after the next holiday season.

Xenoblade Y but the Y is pronounced crossroad to denote the choices you make in the game heavily affect the story like Law/Chaos in SMT

I've been thinking, Switch got a lot of Wii U ports, presumably due to the fact Wii U didn't do so well.

Do you think there are certain Switch games, that didn't do probably well or are a bit niche, that come to Switch 2?
Like, I kinda like to think that games like Another Code, Endless Ocean, Famicom Detective Club and maybe Advance Wars coming to Switch 2. Endless Ocean is not out yet, but I doubt it'll sell like a Mario or Zelda game.

No. No sense.

Isn’t the Switch 2 likely to be backwards compatible? If so, I can’t see new versions of such games being ported.

Honestly, at this point, I could see them try to sell Wind Waker and Twilight Princess as 4K showcases for the Switch 2 and that’s why we haven’t seen them yet. Just porting the Wii U HD releases wouldn’t “surprise and delight” enough I guess.

Following this thought, I could see them use Xenoblade X to help showcase their new memory tech in their internal storage and game cards.

We’ll see soon, I guess.

My first thought was Y would have multiple endings aka timelines, and Z would indicate a Misdirection, ultimately leading you up to the same conclusion.

Yeah, that's true. Forgot about that. My thoughts process came from the fact that EO and AC came right at the end, and players might've wanted to wait for a similar Wii U - Switch effect of those games. But yeah, likely Switch games prolly BC, so never mind I guess?

Wind Waker in 4k would be gorgeous. That said, I think that Nintendo has been holding those games as necessary fillers so it wouldn't shock me if we got them this year. Also, Nintendo is probably going to focus on new content for the launch year. If push came to shove, I'm probably fine with waiting for a better version a couple years down the road.

Side note: Wind Waker HD is 10 years old???????????

Honestly that's a really good move.

A new Zelda isn't going to be ready anytime soon. But the combination of TPHD, WWHD, and patches for BotW and TotK would be enough to entice pretty much any Zelda fan to become an early adopter.

Sorry if this was discussed in other threads, but did anyone else read the Hades II Early Access announcement news today and think "Hades II 1.0 Switch 2 launch title"? Specifically, these lines:

Beyond that, we expect to be in Early Access at least through the end of 2024 in order to build out the remaining content we have planned.
We expect Hades II to eventually be available for PC, Mac, and console platforms (though cannot confirm which platforms yet).
[source]

I'm pretty sure Hades did well on Switch, so getting the sequel as a launch title (if the game is ready when the console is) seems like it'd be a win for everyone involved. If the game's release slips into 2025 beyond Switch 2's launch, I do expect a Day 1 launch on the platform.

Oh boy, next direct speculation, switch best selling console ever confirmed, end of the year reveal... next year release...

So much fuel for this thread and the forum!!

Remember when people thought we were due for a Direct in January-March? 6 months later yeouch 😬.

Not a good marketing year, it's another 2016/2020/2022 with minimal Directs.

I could honestly see Pokemon and Mario as the launch titles (I’m like 100% certain 3D Mario is filling the BotW slot), which would be nuts.

To answer the question posed in that closed thread, i do believe the Twitter announcement is basically Nintendo beginning the production process and knowing leaks will happen and getting ahead of it. They also know that with the media cycles ramping up for 3rd parties around the former E3 months in June, games are going to get announced where Switch 2 is one of the platforms so i think 3rd parties wanted/nintendo wanted Switch 2 to be mentioned along side.

And to answer the new poll question about How confident I am that I will have a Switch 2 by April 2025, i would say I'm fairly confident the Switch 2 will be out by then. I'm a bit less confident that I will have one, as I am worried about scalpers and shortages. That said, Nintendo did say they plan to have a lot of inventory on hand for the launch. So maybe it will not be as hard to find especially if they are aiming for a 10 million unit launch.

Finally can i say what a relief this has finally been announced? feels like we've been let ouf of purgatory.
