Just got a survey from Nintendo about pikmin 4 that is supposedly very rare to be selected for yeah right probably sent to everyone who bought it. Asked what I liked, disliked, explain how I came to the conclusion of buying the game. What advertising I saw, etc.
I got this too and I answered honestly for the first question. I was given the game as a gift so I didn't buy it and it booted me from taking the rest of the survey.

I wanted to share my thoughts 😢

This is pretty random, but I just wanted to quote a post of yours and let you know that "pissing shitfire" and "Hylia fucking wept" are still some of my favorite Bozisms 🤣 "Famicomrade" is up there too

The PNW is on fire everywhere and all I’m seeing is these dumbasses and their “15 minute city” conspiracy. Like the government is secretly burning rural towns that were entirely self contained to make…entire towns that are self contained? The logic doesn’t even make sense. And I wouldn’t even notice but it seems these people have priority billing on Twitter.

When Maui was on fire I was seeing similar conspiracy theories about it as well. Just.. literally everything has to be spun by these people so they can feel smarter for "knowing" something we don't. 😩

Got caught up in my fanfiction/fanart frenzy again, it's been a few years. I sometimes get this sudden urge to just bury myself in it.

I love it. Though I have a hard time accepting that the Zelink community has sort of reached a silent agreement that their last names are Zelda Harkinian and Link Forester.
Surely Zelda's last name is just Hyrule?

Do invididual Zeldas have distinct sur-names that tell them apart?

Like a titlel or moniker that separates them from the other Zeldas that came before, at least?

That would be a cool idea, if they had a "name" of some sort.

Maybe you only get Hyrule added to your name when you officially become king or queen. So because she's still a princess, Zelda doesn't have the title yet.

I decided to compile a little mural of my top 20 favorite games of all times.

In no particular order, but the top row are my 4 all time favorites
I decided to do a limit One game per series, and that really made choosing a few hard (Oblivion vs Skyrim/ Ocarina vs Majora/AC2 vs Black Flag)

In the end, I just could not pick between the Kanto and Hoenn games of Pokemon, I had to put both!
I need to have Pokemon XD and Gen 5 in there too, but then it's just becoming a Pokemon list!

Sometimes I’m amazed at how oddly engrossing old games (that I had never played before, so no nostalgia goggles) with so called “archaic” mechanics can be. I’ve been playing the original King’s Bounty (DOS version) via Internet Archive (via browser emulator) and honestly I’m having a blast.

This game barely has any animations and sound, and yet I’m having more fun with it than I had with some recent AAA titles I’ve played.

Sometimes your imagination really does put in more work than high fidelity graphics

I'd like to have your opinion on these games :

  • La Mulana 1+2
  • Sakuna of Rice and Ruin

Thanks in advance ! :)
Haven't played La Mulana but I loved Sakuna. I don't normally click with farm sims but the farm aspect of it was simplified enough that I got the hang of it, plus it's tied to the story and action in a way that made me care to do it. And then the action stages were a ton of fun, good old-fashioned sidescrolling beat-em-up stuff. And on top of all that, lovely art and a neat story!

Really interesting blend of two unlikely genres, if you like either of them or both of them I'd give it a shot.

I've played a little of La Mulana 2, it's... difficult? It's very cryptic and makes you learn on the fly, I never got very far but I could see it being fun once you really get into it. The graphics and overall game feel did put me off a little, though.

So Monster Hunter Rise is on sale...

I used to love this series but as I am older I have 2 things that keep me from buying it.

(1) one main thing is that nowadays... I feel freaking sorry for the monsters! The idea that I hit these animals and they are limping and I chase them to death feels... a bit off

(2) i am unsure about this whip thing they added as a mechanic. I played the demo and it felt a bit clunky. Also about riding other monsters - feels like it changes the core of the game.

Anyone care to convince me either way? (Buying / skipping)

I suppose it would make sense to go with the BOTW/TOTK terminology? Zelda of Time, Zelda of Winds, etc.

Thoughts on Final Fantasy 16 so far:

-The story and world are pretty interesting. You can definitely see the Game of Thrones inspirations everywhere
-Game is super linear. I'm talking FF XIII linear so far. In many ways, it kind of reminds of a PS3 game. Leve design is super basic with lots of invisible walls. Quick time events and context sensitive door openings. The game teaches you about sides quests, you do two, and then you don't get others for several hours later.
-With it being so linear, the game doesn't let you explore the world organically. You have to consult the active time lore or the historian at your base a lot.
-RPG systems - not a whole lot there so far. It's basically Devil May Cry or Bayonetta style of progression. The linear nature of the game means there's very little opportunities to actually level up to get more of an advantage. Same way with how the game gives you materials to upgrade equipment. Simply falling the main path will put you at the level it wants you to be.
-Combat - It has been pretty fun. It's definitely not on the level of combat spectacle games like DMC. It's a lot more basic which might make it more accessible to others. Tales combat is probably the best way to describe it. The combat isn't as smooth as I'd like. There seems to be some input delay and it feels awkward to smoothly transition into combos.

So yeah, I'm hoping the game opens up a bit more later. It's a cool world but you're really not going to get to know the locations or inhabitants very well with the game being so linear.

Think we will get a Warriors game based on a Nintendo IP in the new Switch's first year?
I think Hyrule Warriors based on Tears of the Kingdom is kind of to be excpected (if it doesn't show up on Switch still).

Apart from that... still a decent chance I feel, those seem to have done well enough for both Nintendo and Tecmo Koei to varant multiple sequels by now. Could be Mushroom Kingdom Warriors or Xenoblade Warriors if it's not Zelda again.

Trying to be as spoiler free as possible: some of the issues are addressed. Give it some more time.

I could see Xenoblade Warriors in 2024 for the Switch and the successor, like they did with Fire Emblem Warriors in 2017
I agree.
