Until I saw the rest of the conversation here, my one contribution to the thread was just going to be "Samus is a badass". Great stuff. What I think about Dread is great in contrast to Other M is it maintains a lot of the spectacle action of Other M albeit structured in a slightly more grounded manner, and it frames Samus as being a complete badass. It's so fantastic.
We should demand a Sakamoto Videogame Universe, which culminates in a crossover starring our own motley crew of Miis, Samus Aran, and Ayumi Tachibana.Just getting the small stuff out of the way before he brings out the big one next year: Tomodachi Collection Switch!
Gonna go set up a gaming website, somehow convince Metacritic it's one of them proper weighty important ones, and give Dread 101%.Code red, Metroid Dread is back up to an 89 on Metacritic, I repeat, code red
Adorable <3
OK now it works. That's my 4 months old puppy that stops me from playing more metroid Dread.
100+ pages already ?!
People are comfy it seems.
I saw that it is 40 bucks now I’m not so sure lol I got it for 5 on PCBased on Nintendo World Report’s review of Disco Elysium, I’ll probably pick it up on my Series X instead.
At this rate we’ll be through ST1 in roughly two months100+ pages and I just checked out of curiousity, we welcomed our 1,300th member about an hour and fifteen minutes ago. GotDANG
Are we sticking to ye olde 400 page rule?At this rate we’ll be through ST1 in roughly two months
That was discussed but I don’t think we came to a conclusion? Are we sticking to ye olde 400 page rule?
The old-old place. That was discussed but I don’t think we came to a conclusion?
But still, it’s tradition! Ever since the place before the old place.
Octopath Traveler and Xenoblade 2 each did over 2 million on Switch. System is a good home for JRPGs. I'm really looking forward to SMT V.That Era SMT V thread has me shaking my head.....
"Generic anime"
Like how especially when you have Persona 5 of all things.
Then the "Switch not strong enough to carry an SMT title" had me chuckle because this is the same system that made Bravely Default 2 almost sell a million.

Sony fans shitting on it, or fellow Nintendo fans? That Era SMT V thread has me shaking my head.....

I think we'll be through ST1 within a month. Much talk of candy corn, Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0, various Halloween costumes and games and the NSO expansion pack details will likely happen. Who knows what other developments we'll see that are Nintendo related as well.At this rate we’ll be through ST1 in roughly two months
Shin Megami Tensei is older than the Nintendo 64 so I don't think it's "generic anime" at all. Plus I did enjoy the anime made of a few of SMT spinoffs. Some people need to embrace culture like Xenoblade 2.That Era SMT V thread has me shaking my head.....

I don't see Nintendo fans shitting on it considering they are the ones who will most likely support the game since it's on the Switch.Sony fans shitting on it, or fellow Nintendo fans?

Also, the people who unironically say SMT doesn't have a distinctive presentation or looks haven't really played an SMT game considering SMT 4 looked fantastic on the 3DS.
Incredibly atmospheric not generic anime.
4 surprised me a ton. It was my first SMT game, and it hit a blend of preposterous, goofy, and theological that was a blast to play.
Every indication of Dread's sales is looking very good so far. We'll have a better idea with NPD next month, but I'm expecting a 3 million+ seller.I hope Dread sells well enough to warrant consistent Metroid releases! Dread making me really excited at this possibility...
These designs are literally a dime a dozen. Literally!I'm sick of seeing designs like this in games ugh
When people outright choose to be dumb there's really nothing we can do lol. If anything Switch is the best place for SMT V to be. The game clearly greatly benefited of Nintendo's funding: the game looks marginally better graphical-wise than Persona 5. Just compare the demons and character design like faces between the two. Also terrain, scenario and everything. It's getting the holiday spot. Switch is the hottest system in Japan(and worldwide, but in Japan it's just reigning alone). Persona 5 Strikers did well on the Switch, SMT IV and Apocalypse did well on the 3DS, you had a lot of games for the DS too, Nocturne HD and TMS are on the Switch, the game was heavily hyped being the major announcement at a last year's Direct, had hours of spotlight at E3, is getting a world wide simultaneous release after P5 taking 7 months and P5S taking one year to release in the west. That Era SMT V thread has me shaking my head.....

I truly wish. I feel like there was a mini boom a few decades ago of grimey urban near-future anime with demons and apocalypses? Stuff like X and Demon City Shinjuku and Wicked City and uh…Overfiend?Kind of wild imagining a timeline where most anime looks like SMT

Jesus this looks fucking fantastic. I think I'll get into it playing Apocalypse on Citra(I don't have the money to get a 3DS and I've been saving everything I can this year to buy a Switch). Is it a good entrance? I was playing Nocturne on the PS3 but dropped. Only megaten game I played from begining to end was P5. Is SMT IV/ Apocalypse a good entry point? Or am I better getting the Nocturne remaster for PC?I don't see Nintendo fans shitting on it considering they are the ones who will most likely support the game since it's on the Switch.

Hell yeah. We'll get consistent Metroid releases until Prime 4 launches, but if that, Dread and MP1HD do well commercially we'll be granted constant support from there on. Just like Fire Emblem that after Awakening success got Fates just three years after, then Echoes, Heroes, Warriors, Three Houses... Everything in a span of 7 years between 2012/13 and 2019.I hope Dread sells well enough to warrant consistent Metroid releases! Dread making me really excited at this possibility...
Lol I now want to replay the game in this method. When it comes to the gyro controls on New Pokemon Snap, I don't recommend them while docked. However, if you're playing the game handheld and have access to a spinning desk chair, holy damn that's what the gyro was built for
SMTIV is a great hopping on point and a wonderful game. Apocalypse directly ties into its late game story so I wouldn’t start there.Jesus this looks fucking fantastic. Apocalypse is a direct sequel to one of the routes in the original SMTIV (or rather, the beginning of Apocalypse takes place near the end SMT4's story, only for events to diverge from the original)Jesus this looks fucking fantastic. I say go with SMT 4 as it has a lot of Qol additions compared to Nocturne. Like there aren't any random encounters in the game. I think 4 is easier to get into than Nocturne imo.Jesus this looks fucking fantastic. Is it the old place, the new place and the new new place or is it the old old place, the new old place and the new place?
