Is it me or does this look better than our first look at it last year? I can’t put my finger on it but I find it a little more appealing graphically. Maybe I’ve just gotten used to it rather than going ‘where’s my pixel art’ :D
The game has definitely had some extra graphical polish done, too. There's a lot more small details added here and there since the last showing.

Love how this looks and I'm eager to revisit. Someday. Jesus Christ this year is BUSY.

It isn't you, it looks much better. Lighting in particular is doing a much better job at conveying the plastic aesthetic.

The voice acting is whatever, but you can't deny the charm of the WayForward art. Them + Advance Wars is a match made in heaven for sure.

I never played these ones, I have the DS games because I found them really cheap back then when the DS was on its final years but although I liked them they were too hard for me (or I was too terrible at playing them). Nonetheless, I'm buying this day 1 and I guess the first one will be a great entry point

One of gaming's biggest mysteries is why this franchise isn't popular in Japan. Like, it has everything that should appeal to the japanese marketing, the anime aesthetic, the cute pixel units, it's colorful, the soundtrack is amazing, and it's a turn based strategy game ffs.

I know the first GBA game had to be delayed and blablabla but really, I think it's just a matter of rebooting it and marketing it right, so it really is a shame that this isn't getting a Japanese version, it was the perfect opportunity.

Yeah, the remake could have been the soft reboot the franchise needed in Japan. I'm sure it could sell more than 50k Units there so it's weird that they don't even want to try.

I mean the Quenn and Gas prices are dominating the Media, Dicember also can be the perfect month considering the Cristmas and Capitalism always dominate media in Decmber

If Nintendo to reveal a new date for it I doubt they'll make a big song and dance about it, likely just part of a sizzle reel to be on the safe side.

I feel that December is a good slot to release it, so an exact year on from when it was originally penned in. And who knows, at the rate Ukraine is regaining territory we can only hope the war is done by then.

I still feel this isn't making this year.

Mostly because Nintendo probably had a full year plan scheduled and save for things like XC3 and Splatoon likely trading spots, they'd likely have to delay a different game to give AW breathing space.

Wish I'm wrong on this and we do see it later today and can play it by Christmas, though.

Since it's seemingly being featured at the Direct (thankfully!), I wonder how Nintendo will angle this. Probably never mention the delay at all, right? Such a weird situation they put themselves in.

Anyway, hopefully the game somehow manages to sell a lot so we can have a little hope the franchise won't be dead forever. If it sells just alright, I don't think it can ever recover.

Hoping for a DLC announcement along with re-reveal: Dual Strike expansion pack! With every single new CO, including the one and only Javier! Try to hit me with that rocket launcher now, Grit...

There's Nintendo's March game!
Dang we're really completely ignoring Bayonetta Origins huh?

but yeah, I think it's coming in the next few months. Goldeneye is out and has lots of Russian war/espionage stuff in it. I think Nintendo is ready.

Now that Fire Emblem is out I wasn't expecting Nintendo to sit on this for too long, but it's still a relief. I would expect a fairly quick turnaround, April at the latest.

I'm more interested in how it'll sell. Switch has a positive effect on most Nintendo franchises, and as the old saying goes, all publicity is good publicity. Maybe the very public delay will intrigue peope.

My hope is that they used the delay to get a release in Japan prepped to try and restart AW’s prospects in Japan.

Is there a rumor about it being in the Direct?

I am curious about this too.

I've been aware of Advance Wars since Super Smash Bros Brawl (the assist trophy basically) and haven't played many strategy games since then. From what I know it's never been a huge seller or anything, although in the past several years I've seen some wanting a new entry.

Since the Switch has really gathered the most Nintendo gamers since the Wii plus has many who enjoy the handheld Nintendo side I think it has a chance to do decently well. In addition to that, the Switch is a RPG machine with several tactical/strategy games.

Perhaps with good word of mouth they can find success?

This is the most likely candidate for Nintendo to ever have a full-on first-party Shadowdrop.

Yeah, Nintendo allowed a game in which you explicitly kill Russians. I feel like Advance Wars should be fine now.

I mean, allegedly Goldeneye was also delayed because of the war, so it releasing was always good news for AW.

My hunch is that this is the April game, they will actually market it as usual, and there will be a demo.

I was almost going to get into Fire Emblem for the first time, but if Advance Wars actually comes out, who cares about Fire Emblem?
I have played every Fire Emblem game since Awakening, but don't really enjoy them. I just buy them because everyone else insists they are great games.

AW all the way.
