Open world has lost all meaning to a lot.

If they see 3D movement. Everyone just saids open World cause it’s an easy sell/headline.

From just looking at Kirby. It looks like Mario 64 type. Open sandbox if you ask me.

Is there an official thread for sharing NSO family subscriptions? I've looked and didn't find one, would it be fine if I made one?

There is, here

Knowledge is a curse, pain knowing what I'm potentially missing out on when I can't read a lick of Japanese.

Hell I'm embarassed to admit that I only learned the β in German is a substitute for 'ss' and not a fancy B sound

(site devs, can we get a cursive font option for posts? I need me some Edwardian Script)

wanna buy a series s so baaad. 300€ to play next gen games thanks to Gamepass is a steal.
yeaaaah gamepass is too good isn't it. the value proposition is unbelievable. I'm still looking for a trade for my PS5 for a Series X. Had one and the guy backed out.

kirby isn't open world ffs

I'm hoping it's "thematically seamless" with those bridges separating levels but they're still obviously levels

Like Dark Souls.

So there will be no loading screen o a hub/map like Mario Bros 3/World where you choose the level.

if I had a dumb amount of money I would own both flavors of xbox just to take them apart and put them back together

I honestly considered getting a Series S for downstairs where I live to go with my upstairs Series X

Then I realised that such an idea was fucking stupid and a waste of money

Phil Spencer loses this time!

Bungie is celebrating its 30th anniversary and it got me thinking how crazy it is that Nintendo is over 130 years old and for the majority of its existence, it had nothing to do with videogames. By time it had firmly established itself as THE videogame company, it was already 100 years old. Think of all that has changed in the 30 years since the SNES. Now multiply that number of years by three and that roughly gets you the timespan between when Nintendo was founded and when they debuted the Famicom.

I heard their was an indie world sizzle reel at the Game Awards? We expecting that’s all we are getting in terms of indie presentations from Nintendo this month then?

It was a brief montage showing already released indie games and thanking indie partners, it didn't announce anything new coming to the switch platform which is usually the main function of indie world directs.

It's not even a horse game. That's the funny part of Samus Hunter teasing it.
how many degrees are we away from making that account start “dropping hints” about the horse incinerator

If I had a dumb amount of money and unlimited time I'd make one of the best indie WRPGs ever made
if I had a dumb amount of money I would be less anxious about affording both rent and food and maybe even work on paying off my debts, like my ceaseless tower of student loans

You know, I'm kinda starting to lean towards a Miitopia sequel instead of a 1, 2 Switch sequel for Stinker Horseperson. I feel like you can more easily fit a horseperson into Miitopia

Still sticking with my 1,2 Switch sequel prediction for the avatar bet for now though (am I even legally allowed to switch teams). 2017 part 2 is too strong

What's this about an Uma Musume rep being a surprise addition to Smash Ultimate?

I didn’t realize how many took the “best family game” award seriously judging from some online reaction lol.

Which is an award that isn’t put much effort into honestly. It’s like they just look at Nintendo and say “yeah pick these I guess”. There’s other companies making family games that are just as good or not better 😒

Yeah I also guessed that it was miitopia last month, fits in with the horse person thing

Amiibo festival would be my second pick tho

So the cloud version of Edge of Eternity is coming to Nintendo Switch on 23 February 2022.

This is getting ridiculous. Nobody cares for Cloud games why do they keep pushing for them... on Switch? If they game cannot run on Switch it shouldn't be on Switch.

So just to recap...

For 2022 the confirmed Nintendo games are:

  • Pokemon Legends Arceus
  • Splatoon 3
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • Mario + Rabbis 2 (ok technically Ubisoft)
  • Zelda BOTW2
  • Bayonetta 3 (technically Platinum but Nintendo published)

And aside from Splatoon 3 and maaaaaybe Legends Arceus we know next to nothing about these (& even Legends Arceus feels like it hasn't shown us everything because come on. Even for a Pokemon game that can't have been everything).

And yet they decided to talk about none of these?

Not to mention all the rumored unannounced games:

  • Xenoblade 3
  • Metroid Prime Remake
  • Donkey Kong from Nintendo EPD

Those might not be real ofc (but for the first 2 i have every confidence that they are), but those aren't even announced yet either.

So what is going on here. Will Nintendo stack their Directs or are they just holding everything back for a possible Switch 2 or Pro thing in 2023? Even though they said the Switch's lifetime isn't over by a MILE so maybe a Pro or something.

That's not to say there was nothing for me at the awards. Looking forward to Forspoken now that is has a release date and I have always looked forward to Horizon. The new Sonic game looks promising (but need to see more, because that didn't look native Switch so either it was a render trailer or Switch is getting another cloud version... in which case for me, ps5 it is
They could have a pretty standard Direct for first party games. Something like:

Final trailer - Triangle Strategy
New footage and release date - Advance Wars, Kirby Forgotten Land + Splatoon 3
Name reveal and "holiday 2022" - BOTW2
New announcements - Xenoblade 3 + Fire Emblem

It's an old post (from resetera) and at the time people still thought Xenoblade would release before the end of the fiscal year according to things that had been said, which is clearly impossible at this point

I thought the fiscal year thing was for announcement not release? those are two very different things and a February direct would still be this fiscal year

in the past I've expressed some anti-option sentiment but at this point I can't be fucked about cloud games

their terrible existence simply isn't bad for the platform, which was well-established early on by real ports like doom, skyrim, and rocket league
