I had to mute because I get second-hand embarrassment from folks. I feel for folks when they stumble on stage lol.

I was expecting dull man but trust me it's even worse

it's like nintendo doesn't even exist
I mean, that's how it always is here. It's an event for the AAA industry, mainly western. That's never really been a secret.

I’m getting 2019 vibes reading this thread regarding Nintendo.

I doubt anything is wrong at Nintendo. The show just doesn’t seem to be an that important of an avenue for them

I wasn't even expecting anything from Nintendo. I was in this for Sonic and Chrono. They showed Sonic early and now it's just a wait

I think there was an assumption that since Smash can’t be the big showing, there would have to be something to replace it. Instead, it seems like there just… isn’t.
Of course there isn’t. Nintendo announced their slate for this year at E3 and there isn’t a game with active updates anymore. And like I said, TGA’s aren’t the place for huge announcements. And I bet they heavily regret even announcing Bayonetta 3 in 2017.
what the fuck is happening at nintendo man

I can't even begin to imagine what zelda 2 development has looked like
Zelda has spent almost two years of its development cycle in the middle of a pandemic. I have nothing but respect for the devs. The doomerism over this game, and Nintendo in general, feels so out of touch with the reality of the state of the world.

And by all accounts they still had an incredible year in 2021. They’re 100% fine.

I say that zelda development must have been hell in part because of covid, not in spite of it

Honestly genuinely surprised people were expecting much from Nintendo. I do not get where this impression came from. They featured BotW an already announced game at two TGA’s and to be bluntly honest they haven’t done much since. It’s been super tame in the Switch era. A logo of Bayonetta 3, a couple of mid tier game announcements, smash dlc, etc. Nothing really earth shattering.

I will gladly take the L tonight if something huge gets dropped later. But I wasn’t expecting anything since Smash has been the go to game for announcements and that is now wrapped up.
The thing is we didn't even get these.
It was a complete no show other than a trailer for Rise. (Which is not exclusive anymore)

As in telling the audience they've been in a simulation the whole time and the real show is happening later and Nintendo will actually remind us to be there this time?
Sounds really possible. Keanu and Carrie-Anne could be this year's Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez. (they were late in the show, right?)
Journalists were playing a demo for that Matrix Awakens earlier this week. It sounded pretty incredible (visually).

So that's why I wondered if this show will end with The Matrix.

Also, The Game Awards always feels the need to promote upcoming movies.

The Game Awards is and has always been a certain way with a certain audience

Nintendo has zero pressure to be part of that. They have so much traction on their own presentations.

Don’t forget, this is all just marketing, and Nintendo is very good at catering to their audience.

The Game Awards is a very western show, and even in that, very very American.

we’ll see how this ends but it’s like this, and that’s okay. It’s not a primo Nintendo pocket.

also caaaaaaalled it in the ST

Still haven't forgiven Paramount for the Star Trek Discovery fiasco, greedy fucks

"games take hundreds of people working countless hours to make. and thats only possible thanks to one person."

It's pretty funny seeing almost the exact same games represented for every category. There's gotta be a better way to get game journalists to diversify nominees a little bit.

Haven’t kept up all that much.

Has that It Takes Two guy said anything? Everyone been waiting for his speech.
No, his game won during one of the throwaways and they put a camera on him while Geoff joked about knowing better than to give him a microphone again.
