We're already a few weeks into the third year of Famiboards - what are you excited to see, both with games and our community?
Honestly I’ll probably be catching up on 2023 games in 2024 so uhhh I’ll think about the games when they come! Princess Peach Showtime looks great though.

Community wise I guess I wish there was more dumb stuff available in the Super Market
Oh my god yes

A late weekly question? Look, it's fine we were all playing Mario this weekend. And if you weren't, you were playing Spider-Man 2. We were all busy! But let's get back on track.

For games, I'm patiently (but eagerly) awaiting Switch 2 for the sole purpose of seeing the next 3D Mario. As for what we know for sure, I'm excited with all the Mario we're getting. The 1-2 punch of WarioWare and SMRPG over the next few weeks, the final Mario Kart wave, Princess Peach Showtime, TTYD remake, even Mario vs DK. I also really wanna try Splatoon 3 Side Order. For our community, I'd love to throw more badge events, or maybe revive the tournament feature for some fun. I have some concepts I want to iron out when I'm less busy!
In games, Prime 4. I can't wait to see what Retro has been cooking up. There's a masterpiece just around the corner and my hype cannot be contained. That being said I'm looking forward to seeing a post Prime reveal direct where I can go in with no expectations and enjoy it for what it is. There's been a fair few announcements over this past year that I haven't felt the hype for as strongly as I would normally and that's down to the looming shadow of Prime. TTYHD and Showtime look wonderful so I'd like to give them the excitement they deserve.

In the community... Reggie is among us. Also just continuing to be an excellent place to hang out and talk 'tendo.

On the subject of games: I'm glad there's a window of zero releases I immediately want/need to get until early March because I am still catching up.
  • Fire Emblem: Engage should wrap up soon, hopefully
  • Metroid Prime Remastered will be up next. I wanted to save it until closer to MP4, but eh
  • I'll have to restart my Tactics Ogre: Reborn playthrough
  • The DioField Chronicle is still in my backlog
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 I still haven’t even bought
  • Same goes for Octopath Traveler II
  • And also for Advance Wars I+II Re-Bootcamp
I really want to whittle down that list at least as far as games I already bought are concerned until Unicorn Overlord in early March.

In terms of community, I hope we will be able to keep the good vibes going.

For games, I’m looking forward to finally seeing Metroid Prime 4 the most as it has taken all generation to finally arrive and next year 100% has to be the year we both see and play it. I’m also fresh off Mario Wonder, so bring on 3D Mario with Switch 2 as well. For confirmed upcoming games with release dates I’m most excited for Alan Wake II, both Like A Dragon Gaiden and Infinite Wealth, Under Night In-Birth II, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Most hyped undated confirmed game for me next year is certainly Trails Through Daybreak!

For community stuff, I’d like to make a new genre ST in the near future, potentially as soon as next month 👀

I hope it's the one I think it is, otherwise I might have to do it myself. 👀

Why, I never!

Same boat! For the rest of 2023 I'm looking at:

  • Starfield playthrough at around the 15 hour mark to continue with
  • Super Mario Bros Wonder at the end of world 2
  • Octopath Traveler 2 purchased in February and still on the list of things to play this year
  • Cocoon installed on my Series S
  • Sea of Stars postgame content
  • Maybe buying Paranormasight in the eShop sale and with gold points

As with you, early 2024's line up doesn't do much for me just yet, so I was going to wait and purchase Super Mario RPG in January while I decide if I want either Another Code or Prince of Persia. But I've got Baten Kaitos remasters and Final Fantasy II through VI to play, as well as Oracle of Ages on NSO in my Old Stuff back up pile. Possibly Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush if I stay subbed to Game Pass.

And then there's Chants of Sennaar, Dave the Diver, Dredge, The Case of the Golden Idol and Cassette Beasts at the top of my Unpurchased Indie Wishlist.

In terms of community, I hope we will be able to keep the good vibes going.
100% this, too.

We never got a Mario Wonder theme for Fami, complete with talking flowers when you mouse moves over them. I can't believe I ever subscribed to Famiboards+.

opening famiboards to 8 notifs not remembering what I said is like waking up to an email from my professor or text from my boss

I’m so conflicted on the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection

I WANT to play that series! I want to play those games, on a Switch if I can! That sounds lovely!

But ARRRGHGHGRRHGGH there’s just enough about it that has me hesitant

Since the physical version is a joke, I'm just going to wait until Konami has digital like 50% off (or the physical gets a similar level of discount).

Do what I’m doing and wait for digital to hit 15-20

The whole physical thing doesn’t bother me personally as I’m all digital so it won’t affect me, but it is pretty wack for those who want the physical version.

I just… I dunno, wish it ran better on Switch? Like it doesn’t seem bad by any means, but it seems just half-assed enough that I’m tempted to also wait for a sale.

It's been a minute since I thought about this. If I had to guess, the rest of the year will probably go like this.

Backlog:
  • Super Mario Wonder- Going through it slowly. Sister wants to play it so I might start over.
  • T'chia- Bought it two months ago, but I still haven't touched it.
  • Advance Wars 2- Still need to play the second half of Reboot Camp.
  • Donkey Kong Country 3- Finished DKC 2 102% recently. Need to play a 103% run now.
  • Resident Evil 3 Remake- Finished all of RE2R a couple weeks back.
  • AC: Valhalla- This one has been staring at me for a while. I might try it over the holidays.
Purchases
  • Spider-Man 2- Waiting to get my hands on a copy.
  • Wario Ware: Move it!- I'll probably play it for a few hours like Get It Together and then never touch it.
  • Super Mario RPG Remake- Never played it. Can't wait.
  • Whatever else I buy Black Friday

maybe if ninendo actually released games we wouldn't be boredboards shitpostingboards

Got me thinking on this too:
Going to beat for sure:
  • Mario wonder(May wrap this up today depending on the flow of things)
  • Mario rpg(got on a voucher with wonder. Should be able to knock it out before my job starts)
  • Trying to blitz Mario and Luigi for the Halloween challenge. We’ll see how that goes
  • Trying to get back on top of a rpg. Probably Ryza or P3P. We’ll see if I can get rhythm going
  • Final route of Nier replicant. Just gotta finish route C to trigger it but I don’t think it’ll take too long
  • Some random lightweight games from my backlog I just need to focus on
  • Some games from my Xbox backlog like Soulcalibur V and Ace Combat.
As for getting:

  • Megaton Musashi wired if it makes this year
  • Gigabash(hopefully on sale along side the Ultraman dlc release)
  • And possibly during the sales next month if they hit my threshold(and that’s digital only for most of em): m+R SoH Gold($20 or lower), sonic frontiers($20 or lower), stranger of paradise($20 or lower), Fate Samurai Remmnant, Pikmin 1+2, project Raincode and a very long wishlist list

With games: Definitely Switch 2 and everything that's going to come with that. A new console launch is the biggest, most exciting time for Nintendo fans and I can't wait to see what it looks like and what comes with it. Mostly for Prime 4 at the moment, since that's one game we now about for sure!

Community: Somewhat the same, really: A new console will bring a ton of excitement, new topics, and engagement, and I'm really looking forward to that. More badges would be fun! And for me personally, I'd like to throw my hat in for some more STs and topics. I tend to default to just posting in the General or RPG thread, so I should really make more topics. I'd be down for another General ST maybe in early 2024, too.
