Do we really think Nintendo could potentially have 4 tactical rpgs next year (Triangle Strategy, Advance Wars Re-boot Camp, Mario + Rabbids 2, and Fire Emblem)? I wonder if one of them (Fire Emblem) gets delayed into 2023 so they don't cannibalize each other.
I really think only Advance Wars is in trouble of being cannibalized. I mean hopefully not, but the others are follow-ups to previous Switch successes, with audiences that I'm not even sure overlap that dramatically.

But I can't see Nintendo holding back a Fire Emblem to help out an Advance Wars title.

More hyped for that rumored ff9 remake, but cross is cool too
A Final Fantasy IX remake sounds way too good to be true. But some of the characters are popping up in thast Chocobo Racing game... huh

they should put yakuza 0 + Kiwami on switch

and 3+4+5.

Kiwami 2, 6 and Like a Dragon could be Cloud versions. Judgment and Lost Judgment too.

yeah I'm still beating this drum

I will never stop

Square already has 6 AAA games in dev, whatever they'll announce from now on will be AA or even smaller.

Currently rumored:
Chrono Cross remaster
Tactics Ogre Remaster
Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster
Final Fantasy IX Remake
Next SaGa game
Next Mana game

Their AA JRPG's have been annual releases on Switch, Neo TWEWY this year and Trials of Mana a year before that. No doubt there will be one in 2022. But what will it be? None of SaGa, Mana or DQ3 game were mentioned in GeForce Leak. Final Fantasy 9 remake has bigger shot to be 2022 game.

Yeah, if anything, Trigger needs a full remake in Trials of Mana's caliber but even they announce something, it'd be a long way off.
I would like this. I would also like the SNES Trigger ported. Double Trigger!!

LOOK AT MY PROFILE PIC. YOU DON’T KNOW WONDERFUL THIS CHRONO NEWS IS.

Sorry. I’ll get it together soon.

BUT NOT YET
I sincerely believe you and I will end up banned after the reveal due to how completely insufferable we'll become. 😂

2021 : FF14
2022 : FF9 Remake
2023 : FF16
2024 : FF7R part 2

I could see it

Many people don’t know this, but a Community Liaison cannot be banned because he is the community and the community is him.

yes, we will be insufferable

FF16 and FF7R on Dane Switch you mean? if FF16 is a 2022 release on PS, its exclusivity deal should be longer than one year. And I doubt it's a 2022 release.

Annual Switch AA Square JRPG should be like this imo:
2020: Trials of Mana
2021: Neo TWEWY
2022: FF9 Remake
2023: Next Mana game
2024: Next SaGa game

Also in 2024, Switch 2 could launch with DQ12.

I'm still having a difficult time imagining what the FF9 remake is even going to look like.
They did an excellent transition with Trials of Mana, they can repeat the same here. Doesn't have to be uber looking, this one will be for the fans.
Back on Resetera Sal Romano also corroborates Cross remaster being real

I've said it before but from now on I would assume all the Square titles listed on the Geforce leak are indeed real
February Direct is the best place to reveal it. This year we got Legend of Mana there.

Oh yeah, there's also that Live A Live trademark from a while back. I think they might be doing a remaster for that as well.

That "remake" is supposed to be Final Fantasy IX, not Chrono Cross. I think our friend Nick mixed up the games. As Sal says, Chrono is a multiplat remaster similar to FF8 or SaGa Frontier.

The original GeForce leak had Cross listed for a December release. I find it more likely it was the musician who mixed things up and thought there was little difference between a remake and a remaster.

Hey not sure if this is on or off topic but with the mentions of the Trials of Mana remake and such.. was that basically built using DQXI as a base? They feel really, really similar to me for some reason.
I ask because if that's the case, they could use DQXI as a "remake template" for stuff like Chrono Trigger or FFIX the same way they're using Octopath as a remake template for DQIII.
I'd pitch for CT being full 3D rather than HD-2D because I just don't see the HD-2D thing making the game look any better. CT's pixel art is top-fucking-notch and breaking it out into a 3D pixel-sprite game won't add near as much as being able to explore Zeal or 2300AD in full 3D.

Nah, I just think that Square wants FF to be an annual franchise. FF9 in 2022 seems plausible to me in that case, especially as an AA JRPG on switch.
Regarding FF16 and FF7R, I have the impression that it's another Persona 5-like situation, it'll never come to Switch or the Dane.

Otherwise I'm pretty agree with you, plus DQ3 remake on 2022.

I’m hoping the remaster addresses the final section of the game. It’s a glaring area that needed more time in the original release, and now’s the time to correct it.

This is what I say anytime people bring up a Xenogears remaster. Except replace "final section" with "whole damn back half."

Yes and AVA never said otherwise, people who thought it was going to be a playstation exclusive just misunderstood her words (remake of a playstation game != remake of a game for playstation).

Yasunori Mitsuda was the composer for Cross but has nothing to do with FFIX.

And the December release from geforce matches up with Christmas.

The FF IX Remake is odd. It’s a beloved game, but VII Part 2 is still years away. You’d think they be better at balancing projects after XV launched as a mess too.

Then again, this is the same SE that banished Dino Crisis and Parasite Eve to the shadowlands.

Edit - I’m so angry at SE that I gave them a beloved IP. It’s infuriating.

If those Geforce leak dates actually correspond to the announcement date rather than release, than FFT, Tactics Ogre and FF9 Remake could be in a Direct. I doubt CC is getting shadowdropped in one of December events.

SE banished Dino Crisis? Does that mean Capcom's in the clear?

Any form of Chrono Cross remaster/remake would be pretty cool, I used to love that game as a kid. It blows my mind though that as a sequel to the quite straightforward and simple Chrono Trigger they decided to make a game as convoluted (in almost every aspect) as Chrono Cross.

Sakaguchi tried to make a more traditional, straightforward Chrono Trigger 2, but...

Honestly, you could say the same for FFIX. Discs 3 and 4 are a steep drop in quality from the first two.
Lies. The final section of IX is the best part of the game, or indeed of any RPG.

Deep psychoanalysis while the characters journey through surreal environments drawn from their subconscious, while one of the most atmospheric Uematsu pieces ever plays in the background.

Perfection.

So @Raccoon , I installed the screen protector over my cracked phone screen and I'm glad to report I'm not longer slicing my fingers when I type long winded diatribes in response to you.

However, an unfortunate effect of having a cracked screen beneath a screen protector is the fact that air bubbles want to stay within those cracks and are impossible to remove. So I've got weird gray lines of air running all around the screen. But to be honest after a few minutes I don't really notice it so I'm considering this a win.

Especially because this is a $7 screen protector vs a $300 screen repair or $1000 new phone.

Found Neo: World Ends With you for 35 shipped and I also got a backup pair of Philips Fidelio X2HR for ~70$ so my BF shopping is probably done before it even started.

Sweet.

The only think I liked about Chrono Cross was the Soundtrack.

Couldn’t get into the game at all, even on vita for Handheld goodness.
