So update on my asking for a refund for the purchase of a non-English game on the UK eShop (I didn't realise the visual novel which had an English description and English trailer only supported Japanese and Chinese languages), which I haven't played:

Nintendo said no. Well, Gregory at Nintendo said no. For a "variety" of reasons Nintendo cannot offer refunds on digital purchases. All sales are final. Etc. Etc.

I'm very disappointed.

This is my response:

"You are correct in assuming that your response is not what I had hoped for. I am honestly quite shocked that you do not believe there is sufficient grounds for a refund in this instance. I believe I made a genuine error in part because of a lack of signposting on the eShop, and the misleading nature of a foreign language game having an English product description and accompanying video. I have not actually played the game, and do not intend to as I will not be able to derive any enjoyment out of a game that is text-heavy in a language I do not speak or read. While I appreciate terms outlining the forfeiting of my right to cancel when making a digital purchase were available, I would have hoped that a company like Nintendo could make sensible exceptions to this right in cases such as my own.

Please can you outline the "variety" of reasons that mean Nintendo are unable to provide a refund in this case?

I am extremely disappointed and feel duped when making a purchase in good faith. The terms strike me as anti-consumer, and I do hope in the future they change, whether voluntarily or through consumer laws that protect loyal consumers such as myself.

I would ask you to reconsider this decision, and should you be unable to make an exception in this case, please tell me how I can escalate my complaint."

Sad times. Refund policy is legitimately the one area where the a word actually applies (though I think it's actually better than it used to be).

Guess who's got two thumbs and managed to cop a PS5?
Happy for you but like, how are you gonna press the L and R buttons..?

Nintendo is gonna announce the NSO update for December and it’s gonna be no NES, SNES or N64 games and instead will finally be the game boy games we wanted
I was waiting for you to finish this sentence with "Genesis" and am now so disappointed.

So this movie is gonna be "video game player voiced by Chris Pratt loves Mario games and all of his friends voiced by Charlie Day and Seth Rogen and Anya Taylor-Joy are like 'wow Chris Pratt, you sure love those Mario games' and his mean teacher voiced by Jack Black is like 'stop playing those darned Mario games!!!' but then Chris Pratt is playing a mysterious Mario game he found and gets sucked into video game and becomes Mario and all of Mario's buddies like Luigi suddenly sound like his friends and Bowser sounds like his mean teacher" right???? Like, that is absolutely going to be what that movie is, right???

important question for you gamerpeople

Super Mario Party or Mario Party Superstars?

seems like Superstars is the no brainer answer but maybe I'm missing something
I thought I would like Mario Party Superstars but the minigames in Super Mario Party are better by far. They last much longer (not a crazy long time, but MPS has some that can be over in 3 seconds) and are more creative (meat cube, the string board game). The only downside is that you can tell online play was tacked on as it is hard to figure out how to get an online match going the first few times.

Do we really think Nintendo could potentially have 4 tactical rpgs next year (Triangle Strategy, Advance Wars Re-boot Camp, Mario + Rabbids 2, and Fire Emblem)? I wonder if one of them (Fire Emblem) gets delayed into 2023 so they don't cannibalize each other.

Keep escalating. It's pretty common for the first/standard response to be a boilerplate refusal because a lot of people will leave it at that.

Wasn't the VII Remake highly praised? Why would remakes take away from your original experience?

Because these two godlike games don't deserve being cut into pieces, getting useless / dumb story additions and being handled by a team which seemingly has no idea how this is going to turn out nor how many games they need.

It doesn't have to be a giant FFVIIR level thing. Graphical upgrade and expanding the world building (not the mainline game story) would be fun, at least for Chrono Trigger. But I get where you're coming from.

I'd be curious to hear how you feel about the DQIII HD-2D remake.

Now here's a dilemma, I'm already busy with SMTV, am I seriously going to have to delay SaGa Frontier remaster again?

I have no strong feelings towards Cross (I guess I find the combat system a little bit poop) but I think I'd be willing to give a remaster another chance.

Well if we're talking about a HD-2D remake without any changed to the story or gameplay (outside of some slight QoL improvements) then i'm all in.

The FF VII remake is basically the total opposite of that. ;D

Cross? Over Trigger? Wow...
Trigger has aged a lot better than Cross. Ever since we've been hearing about a Cross remaster, I've been assuming they were giving Cross the FFVIII treatment, alongside a simple port of Trigger. Because if they did anything more than that with Trigger, it'd probably be poorly received.

Fuck it, Chrono Trigger remake is now a DDR spin off with Fortnite graphics.

Oddly, DQ3 remake wasn't present in the GeForce leak despite a lot of unannounced Square Enix Projects... Maybe it's a switch exclusive after all.

Let's celebrate by remembering the absolute KINO that is the Chrono Cross intro and the amazing celtic remix of Chrono Trigger's main theme

Seriously, just imagining what Mitsuda will bring us... really looking forward to the music

If the Chrono Cross remaster is real I wonder if they’ll also put Chrono Trigger out again on consoles as well

That didn’t stop Octopath from landing on PC though
I think Chrono Trigger could be the next HD2D remake a la DQ3

Also yeah I think DQ3 will end up everywhere after a year
