I probably won't watch the Pokémon presents. I'll just read the threads posted here. I have very little hope what I want shown will be shown.

I'll be just waking up, so I'll also be following the threads here instead of watching live.

Weekly Question #1

How would you personally define "Weird Nintendo"?

Meant to post this earlier today but didn't have time
Gamecube era Nintendo

Wind Waker, Sunshine, Custom Robo, Chibi Robo, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Odama, and this spread out to third parties too (Viewtiful Joe, Cubivore, Billy Hatcher, Amazing Island, Killer 7)

They were all wonderfully weird and wacky in the best ways. Tbh as much as I loved my Wii back in the day, I do lament how sanitized everything got (or at least overwhelmed with shovelware. That, and I hated the grey Nintendo logo. It was so bland and anti-fun).

Niche indie game Tears of the Kingdom needs our help because Nintendo has done zero marketing for the game. That's why all you should spend your hard earned incomes on putting up 30 second ads for the game in Times Square. If mainstream Pikmin fans can do it, so can you.

343 is finally making it so if one side gets a vehicle in Big Team, so does the other side at the same time. Glorious.

Missed this news yesterday but it's now up for NSO subscribers. You can also earn 100 platinum coins for playing.

God I love Castlevania III but I hate it too.

I just purchased Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp for 25 Euros instead of 50 Euros.
It was on my wishlist on DekuDeals and I suddenly got an e-mail at 2am... Feels good :)

Alright, I think I have by far my most stable build up and ready for download. And it's also 11 GB smaller than the previous ones, just 2GB.

If anyone here has any interest in getting a free download key of the full game to help me test it out (no real obligation here just a simple "hey it works great" or "hey I noticed this major game breaking bug") to get your name on the credits (if you want) please send me a DM!

Recorded predictions for the Pokémon Presents and one of my friends brought up something I completely forgot about, and have seen no one mention yet! Check it out if y’all want;-;

I'm starting to think that the Cruis'n blast online dlc has become it's own game and will be coming out on switch 2.

why's the purple site so obsessed with steam ccu numbers

People like seeing numbers go up. It's very similar to how people like seeing sales of games and consoles. In pretty much real time, people can see how many users are on Steam and playing each game. Because Steam if free, one of the ways to gauge its growth it just by seeing the active users. On the flip side, the console makers report total console and game sales to shareholders during financial reports but don't provide data on a daily or weekly basis.

All I hear is backwards compatibility this, DLSS that.

I just want the Switch 2 to bring back the alarm clock.

So rather than working on FFVIII, I’m grabbing the last few eggs in SMA. On the plus side 4 left, and I’m starting AI as my evening game(already loaded the intro!)

I’ve been in Canada (more specifically BC and Alberta) for ~3 weeks and have learned that people here are constantly hauling something. Otherwise why would every person need a battleship-sized pickup truck.
This is how I feel whenever I go to to Wyoming. The ratio of gigantic pickup trucks to normal vehicles up there is like 3:1. If it weren't for the fact that hardly anyone actually lives in Wyoming, parking lots up there would be a nightmare.

Where in America are you that this isn't the case

My neighborhood is stacked with brodozers. Nobody's truck fits in their garage so the driveways and street are full of them, because one monster truck for each spouse! And then I have one of the smallest vehicles on my street: a Tacoma pickup.

Me when it comes where I left my keys, or any other useful thing:

Me when it comes to remembering obscure facts about Nintendo:

At least in greater Denver/Boulder/etc. there's a lot less of that. Way more Suburus, of course, and a lot of small SUVs, but lots of noticeably smaller vehicles, too. Still plenty of huge pickups but they're much more in the minority compared to like, Cheyenne or Casper.

Welcome to the west!

The real reason is these have much higher profit margins compared to commuter vehicles, so the car companies are prioritizing them. Should come see my neighborhood and all the neighbors that bought these things and just commute with them….

Yep. Same here but everyone still kept the old car so it’s like a parking lot because the jacked up truck takes the whole driveway and the 4 runners go to the street.

My cousin was a rancher outside of Casper so I could see a lot of people there actually using them at least.

You know that moment when you realize you are waaaaaaaaaaay out of touch with some things and then that saving private ryan turning old gif happens in your mind.

Me checking the new Baldur's gate with a friend "Where do I check my thac0?..... what, what do you mean it's not a thing anymore?"

I had a grown-ass, married adult ask me at work one time what the save icon is supposed to be. When I told her it was a floppy disk she looked at me funny.

How in the world is this even possible?! Like, Loki S2 LOOKS better in every single way. Set design and CGI looks miles better.

The worst is seeing a middle-aged lady driving her kids around in the suburbs with those giant pickup trucks. They're always blocking other drivers' views when trying to make turns and stuff. I always want to tell them that their pickups aren't making their kids safer but making things less safe to everyone else.

From what I read, they had to spend an additional 4 months reshooting scenes for Secret Invasion. It sounds like it was a mess of a project all around which inevitably blows up the budget well beyond what was intended.

Ahh, finally finished Pikmin 1 on Switch. Now I may commence Pikmin 4 in relative guilt-free peace*.

(*So long as I don't stare too long at my TOTK playtime of 20 hours since launch 🥲)

The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 soundtrack is up on itunes for $45 for those interested and just shy of 9 hours long :)
I was counting down the days for this and the Definitive Edition soundtrack release to hit iTunes. I've been slowly making my way through the 3 soundtrack over the past couple days. I hope that every time I buy these, Nintendo notices and thinks about it. As far as I'm aware, everything from the Xenoblade series except Xenoblade Chronicles X is now available for purchase and presumably streaming.

I applaud Monolith Soft for releasing their soundtracks like this, and I wish we got this for other franchises published by Nintendo. The Legend of Zelda would probably be my top pick, but Mario has some great music as well. I don't have a ton of experience with the series, but I figure the Pikmin series might have some good ambient tracks. I wish Nintendo would take a page out of Square Enix's playbook when it comes to how they handle music.

Don't worry, fam. I've only beaten one dungeon in TOTK before heading off to 100% both Pikmin 1 and 4.

YO! Had no idea the Definitive Edition soundtrack went up too! Gotta snag that when I can too!

Ah, I'm very glad I could make you aware of that fact. It released alongside XBC3's soundtrack, presumably to coincide with the physical edition release via the Trinity Box.

Speaking of not being able to see around them

I snapped a picture of a buddy's car in a parking lot once for fun:

When the bottoms of their windows are completely above your literal roof, it becomes comical. Like absolutely stupid. Also those trucks are relatively old models. Models have gotten bigger since, which leads me to--

Probably one of my most memorable photos of my own car:

And that Ford pickup is, like, a normal commuter vehicle around here.

It's nutty.

I think my Volkswagen Up would be laughed at in the North America’s.

… but I can park in small places so the joke is on them.
I just checked to see what the Up's main competitors are and the Fiat 500 was listed. If that's a similarly sized car, then yeah actually I see plenty of those around here. Maybe stuff like the Fiat and the Mini Cooper work over here because of the retro styling making them cool? But outside of those the smallest car I regularly see is the Honda Civic and those are typically seen as "kids cars" that you're expected to upgrade out of (into like an SUV or truck) once you grow up and get money.

Honestly as far as new cars go the biggest I'd want is a Corolla hatch or Impreza wagon, if only they weren't so damn expensive now.

It's Windows only thus far, right? I wonder whether it runs on Steam Deck via Proton? :'D

The only reference I have is New York and a bit of Jersey, but that checks out haha.

Everybody wants a truck or suv

How likely is that nintendo will implement some kind of achievement system in their next console? I would be surprised if they didn't, because it's free money. There are many people who buy games just to get easy points and that's 30% for ninny without lifting a finger. Personally Im so used to having a more robust profile on xbox that playing on switch feels hollow in some aspects.

Post apocalypse from other companies: Fallout
Post apocalypse from Nintendo: Haha, funny Squidkids go splat!

I really doubt it, and if they did it'd be uniquely 'Nintendo' (and probably not the good kind of 'uniquely Nintendo').

Outside of a few isolated cases of developers adding in-game achievements (e.g. Pikmin 3, Hyrule Warriors), I haven't really seen anything from Nintendo itself that would indicate they're going to be putting them in. I know that a lot the fanbase generally hates the idea of achievements and sees Nintendo's lack of them as a bonus rather than a negative, so there's not really much motivation on that front either.
