Had a very old people moment tonight: Went to a hookah bar for the first time in an eternity, glad I left "the game" shortly before they became super popular.

I would kindly ask everyone to say a prayer for my wallet

That hypothetical 2022 slate is hype af 👀 BotW2 and FE would be my definite day 1 preorder purchases, and I'll likely be buying Kirby, Prime HD, and Splatoon 3 as well. And RE Outrage if it comes out

I wouldn't be surprised if it's an entirely different engine if IS is doing the game themselves. I think people are expecting the next game to look like Three Houses. But if it's a remake done by IS internally, I could see them doing something like having 2D sprites for the map and 3D models in combat, kinda like they did for the 3DS game. A lot of Nintendo remakes like to preserve something from the visual style of the original.
tbh I doubt they would do this, even for a remake. I feel like all FE games going forward will have the Tellius/3H style fully 3d map graphics. I mean, OG Gaiden didn't have 3d graphics after all, while SoV does for everything besides the top down map view, so I don't think IS cares that much these days about preserving the look and feel of the originals like they were with Shadow Dragon.

I don't think that means that the next game will look like 3H though, at least if it's developed internally by IS. I think/hope it'll look waaaaaaaay better in that
case.
Wonder if the 2022 FE is actually a Holy War remake or if it’s another Awakening -> Fates -> Valentia situation with the remake coming last.
imo remakes are best as a late-life "bridge" in between the previous new game and the inevitable long wait for the first new game on the next console, plus they can be used to experiment with new ideas and concepts for the next "generation" of FE similarly to how FE12 and SoV were, so I think it'd be best to continue the release order of the 3ds era with the Switch era.

Also: I honestly feel like we would've seen a remake by this point (especially if Koei "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" Tecmo was making it) if that's what we were getting next, I'm pretty confident it's a new game and it's developed by IS. Granted, I have very little evidence other than my heart and the lack of IS's FE devs in any projects for the last 4+ years to support this so shrug

Ofc I would, that's sequels to 4 of my favorite Switch games. But on the other hand, it's also a bit boring that there would be zero surprises :p

Yeah if that list is close to accurate I'll be buying way more Nintendo games next year than I have since 2017, maybe more.

Also begrudgingly a Ubisoft game.

  • Can't play online at uni, so unfortunately no
  • 100% purchase

There is something mildly dystopian about seeing battle pass progression complaints for Halo. I remember the days battle passes or other “live service” offerings weren’t a thing and people just had the expectation of having great game modes and map variety. I wonder what other dopamine hit tactics are gonna be widespread over the next few years.

I would be for sure. I doubt I'll see a better year than 2022 for quite some time.

The only thing that would make it better would be improved hardware running at least a chunk of the games.

Edit:
In the spirit of some other responses, my interest [#] out of 10:
  • Pokémon Legends: Arceus - 3/10
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land - 5/10
  • Splatoon 3 - 10/10
  • Fire Emblem - 9/10
  • Mario + Rabbids 2 - 9/10
  • Sequel to Casual game - 0 [Stinky Horseman?]/10
  • Triangle Strategy - 8/10
  • Bayonetta 3 - 4/10
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 - ∞/10
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - 10/10
  • Advance Wars 1 + 2 - 8/10

Hello, does somebody knows if there is going to be an OT for Pokémon here or is it going to only be the case on Era ?

Well I've had a rough week with fatigue so I rewarded myself by buying Toem and The Last Campfire in the eShop sale. Barely done any gaming this week. Hoping tomorrow I'll feel up to starting Phantasy Star IV.

I’d be so broke, I want 9 of those games.

Things I didn't expect to see today; Earthworm Jim is back? With a new TV show?

I'd be more worried about Doug Tennapel's involvement, but when asked about their views on Trans Rights, the Official twitter for this did explicitly say that Trans Rights are Human Rights, so maybe things will be okay here and Tennaple isn't involved? Maybe?

I would be overjoyed.

BOTW2, Bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, Xenoblade 3, and Kirby alone would make this the best year since 2017 for me personally, assuming all live up to expectations.

Sorry to bother you, but can we expect that much rumored Switch Resident Evil game to arrive next year too? Can you say if that is that even a thing, or just a baseless rumor?

It's an incredible line up for sure, but I'd still like some surprises. All of these games are announced except for XC3, FE and MPHD which are heavily rumored so everyone knows they're coming anyway. Would be kinda rough to go the entire year without a few surprises during directs, but yeah, looking at the line up by itself it's already phenomenal.

I don't even need huge surprises, it could be smaller games. Like, this year we had WarioWare, Advance Wars and Mario Party coming out of nowhere and I loved it.

Definitely. I don't know every game that Nintendo has in the pipe. (no pun intended)

I'm sure we'll get something Mario-related next year.

There are many possibilities, several studios which normally work on mario franchises are somewhat due to announce a game:

  • 3D Mario (EPD 8)
  • Mario Kart (EPD 9)
  • 2D Mario (EPD 10)
  • Mario Strikers (NLG)

please for the love of all things, do not send me back to middle school, I have worked so hard to build a life full of kindness, shitposting, and love where I don’t want to die most of the time even though the world is a pit

Is it normal to have anxiety that a large tree limb is going to fall on your head and knock you out while you're walking your dog and your wife will completely forget you went out to walk the dog and leave you there to die from exposure and your tree induced concussion?

Are they still making that Earthworm Jim for the Intellevision Amico?

That seems just a BIT far-fetched, yes. Besides, wouldn't your dog run to get help, lassie-style?

Hyped for "Sequel to Casual Game"

I rather have an overkill of strategy games than a drought of them like we have gotten in periods in the past.

supposedly, yeah; it's their big system seller.. and all we have seen thus far is a crudy walking cycle animation throughout a beach setting;

I was hoping after the Amico inevitably flop, they'd port for other systems and Steam, but seeing how much a scam everything surounding the Amico is (NFTs included), I don't want to touch that game not even for free..

without mention the transphobic creator, of course

My parent's are asking me to put some "fun" things on my Christmas list because I have only really been asking for kitchen or workout stuff these past few years. I want to put Nier Replicant on the list but I don't want my parents to ever view that boxart.

That would only work if my dog could run, rather than just hobble. He's 13 and has arthritis in 3 legs. He'd just sit there and probably eat my corpse once he was hungry enough.

I wonder if these Platform fighters will be able to generate reveals like Smash.

And I’m not exactly talking views. Of course it’ll be much lower, but more in the way characters will be reveal. It’s damn hard to make a trailer, but it’s fun to see how Nick and WB do their reveals. They don’t have a Sakurai.

It’s always pretty amusing to see a 30-40 minutes presentation by a director gather so much views and anticipation for a single fighter. Pretty remarkable marketing that probably not gonna be able to be replicated anytime soon.

Anyways just my thoughts after looking at the Nick and WB trailers out of curiosity compared to the Smash Ultimate ones.

Obviously many of these games can't afford the trailers as flashy as Smash but even still, some of these reveal trailers just aren't that exciting. The Multi Verse reveal is a guy talking about the game with some gameplay spliced in between. Imagine if it was just gameplay and each character was introduced 1 by 1 rather than just having a few seconds of the fighter select screen.

Beyond platform fighters, some fighter reveals for other fighting games aren't that great either. Dragon Ball Fighter Z reveal trailers just stunk. This is Dragon Ball. You don't need a big CG trailer for each fighter. Just show some extended gameplay of the new fighter beating the shit out of people and somehow Namco disappointed in that department.

Had a recent wave of headaches about every day since last Saturday. Only Monday was the day I didn’t have one. Have not been in the mood to play much lately, even with my new Xbox .

And my copy of shining pearl won’t be here till Saturday either

not a platform fighter, but Netherrealm did longform presentations on their characters

I know the feeling. I don't have headaches but I've been breaking out in rashes and hives since last Friday. I of course itch all over and it has affected my sleep. Haven't been in the mood to play SMT V because of it.

Legends Arceus, Kirby, Splatoon 3, BOTW2, and Metroid Prime are all hard locks for me. My girlfriend is probably gonna play Fire Emblem as long as it has character relationship mechanics. Stinky Horseperson 2: The Casual Sequel might be interesting entirely depending on what it actually is. AW1+2 I might also get, depending on what else is out around the same time.

The rest I could take or leave, but in any case: an absolute killer year (though maybe slightly less killer than 2021 for me personally)

I want ten games for sure off this list and depending on the casual game I may want that too. This would prob be my favorite year of the switch if that ends up being the lineup.

Idk what this horse stuff is about but I would kill for another Pocket Card Jockey.
