Persona 3 Reload
Metal Gear Solid Collection
Shadows of the Damned

Which games will Switch get in this month's direct? None? Just Persona? We'll see.

I could easily play P3R on my Series S, but man, the appeal of playing games anywhere on Earth without a TV thanks to handheld mode on the Switch has kinda ruined TV gaming for me, ha.

Could be a Direct reveal, could be a late port like every other Atlus Switch game. But I think Switch 2 title is the weakest option here. The game is not a looker and there's no reason for Atlus to ignore 130m userbase. If they do, they'll ignore Switch 2 too.

Tactica will not be at the Direct but I totally expect Atlus to show something there. VanillaWare game, Soul Hackers 2 or P3 Reload. Currently P3 is the likeliest.
My headcanon is still that SMT4/4A ports are coming, mostly just because I am trying to will it into existence

Strongly feeling this, especially for those games that take forever like Persona or basically any RPG :')

Sure, I could play them on my PC... or I can just play them on my Switch while on the bus, or in my bed, or basically anywhere.

subway is honestly pretty alright

I feel like they're close to pricing themselves out of viability in my market (US) though

Extremely disappointed if P3 Remake isn't coming to Switch... like, I'll still buy and play it on PS or PC, but damn... all this is gonna do is make the game sell less, especially in Japan. Not like it's some super graphically complex game either, there are tons of games on Switch (especially first party) that look waaaay better lol.

Bought FF12 for PS2 in 2006, managed to finish it in 2010. On Switch, beat it in 2 months.
Bought DQ8 for PS2 in 2005, managed to finish it in 2011. On 3DS, it took me 3 months.
Bought Kingdom Hearts 2 for PS2 in 2006, managed to finish it in 2009.
Bought Persona 4, FF13, FF13-2, Tales of Xillia 2, Tales of Berseria, Tales of Zestiria and still could not finish any of them. Beat P4G on Vita in just like 3 months.

JRPG's and home consoles are a huge mismatch. How could the devs expect people to spend 70 hours in front of the TV in a short time period, I still can't understand. Unlike TV, people do use their mobile devices for longer hours...

Crackpot theory time:

Last year, NVC (IGN’s Nintendo podcast) talked about flying Seth Macy out to CA from Maine to do the show live for a Direct that didn’t end up happening, so he didn’t go.

This year, he’s actually in CA for a live episode of NVC, still focused on Zelda like they’ve been doing for a month or so. BUT what if it’s more than that? Direct maybe within the next ~week or so and he’s out there to do multiple podcasts and other things all together???

(Probably not and he’s got other SGF stuff or whatnot plus other work stuff but I BELIEVE)

The target audience probably spends more time at their desk or in front of their TV while at home than you. I haven't seen many people say it's a problem to this degree.

Like, I get wanting Switch versions of these games. I want one too, I'd buy it if there was one. Playing these games on the bus or train is nice, and I don't have to wear glasses to read text. I can and will do that with Steam Deck, but I'd prefer to own a physical copy. But also, clearly devs don't like having to consider underpowered hardware for these sorts of games, and would rather not pour resources into optimizing for it. There's no grand conspiracy against the Switch here. And also I find these sorts of conversations kinda tiring. Not every game is going to come to the Switch, that's ultimately the reality we have to accept.

Don’t forget the huge public transit culture in the home region too. They’re also games where you don’t necessarily need the highest power system to make them compelling for buyers, which goes very nicely with mobile systems.

There’s a number of market forces that have been driving the genre towards mobile for decades at this point.

It feels rough lately so I’m switching to @LukasManak22 because I just need some good news for a change. I’ve been through hell lately and it’s not good. My cat died, a literal bed bug infestation…

I’m booking up my vr headset tomorrow to ignore everything

Hope all is good @Dragoncaine , I’ll explain more in a dm
My condolences, losing a pet is always a horrible experience

I mean, you could finish those games faster if you're unemployed. Or give all of your weekend to them. People I know who beat super long games on home consoles are unemployed people. Or students. I can't think any other way. It will gonna take years to finish FF12 on PS2 otherwise.
Shadows of the Damned Remastered is 100% coming to Switch.
That's the one I thought the weakest. Lollipop Chainsaw remaster sounded like it's made specifically for next gen consoles, I totally expect this one to be too.

I mean… it’s not like people don’t watch TV after work: Come home, eat dinner, then TV for a few hours among other things before bed. I know tons of people that do that, and even at only ~2 hours a day that’s, say, 15 hours a week and you can finish a long JRPG in a month. Maybe two months if you don’t put as much time into it but two months for a long JRPG still isn’t that bad.

And that’s not even getting into people who binge a bit more or have longer sessions, which I also know plenty of. One of my friends religiously watches baseball games every day (most of the time) and that’s ~3 hours a day. Or people who binge TV shows some Friday nights and weekends for 5-8 hours. A lot of people get ~20 hours or more a week of TV time in pretty easily even if they’re busy.

I'm employed and can finish RPGs in a couple months or so. You have like 8-9 hours of time on weekdays where you're not working and all of your weekend too. Now of course a lot of that will be taken up by other things, but you can squeeze in gaming time with the right planning. I work from home so it wouldn't really matter affect me too much if a game was portable or not.

Um, you can definitely be employed, socialize, and have other hobbies and still finish long games. You’ll just play less than others who do have more time which is normal and fine.

Absolutely not, you are either a neet who lives in your mothers basement and spends all day complaining about games on message boards, or you have a real life and are too cool for video games.

Either way, nobody actually plays video games.

But do all that and post on online forums? Doubt.

Sympathy yahaha for you and hope the VR headset helps you free your headspace even if only for a little bit

Ah man, losing a pet is always one of the hardest things we go through in life. So, so sorry for your loss, buddy. Hang in there and lean on your friends in the thread when you need to!

I know I've been terrible with responding to DMs but I will check them tomorrow after we finish our current project at work tonight at 1am EST

I do play insane amount of video games each week. It's just I'm rarely home to deal with home consoles. And home consoles have to share my total TV time with movies & shows.

I'm sorry to hear that. Losing a pet is extremely hard, it's no different in my mind than losing a family member.

I unfortunately know the pain all too well recently, I had two of them disappear the day of TotKs midnight release, one of them showed up with a fatal wound, the other has been missing since. Shit sucks.

I know you've mentioned you have a huge commute so I definitely know why handhelds are more appealing across the board for you. But yeah had to pushback with it's not weird to be ok playing RPGs on a big TV still and have jobs, friends, and whatnot.

Sorry, it still sounds unrealistic as hell for me. Because I've tried. Many times. Hell I'm trying to finish Tales of Arise right now, started on the release day. Got a steam deck, restarted the game again. Maybe this time...

But what if it’s a partner direct? Land of confusion? Talking heads? Flock of seagulls?
Land of Confusion is way, way too good of a song for that. Maybe a really good Partner Direct full of a ton of wtf announcements, though!
