I'm all in. Announcement coming immediately. Potentially ten minutes away. We're getting this tomorrow.
Fr tho, they could totally announce it at 10 EST and the worries would have been for nothing, as the direct will be held at the exact same timeframe of E3s of the past

gotta be Sunday, pretty sure "let there be 2D Mario" is a sentence in the Bible somewhere

probably in one of those banned books they don't want you to know about

This week is the week. What is this week for? I don't know but this is the week for it.

I can confirm this is the week.

I finally ordered new sunglasses. It took me a long time of consideration, but this week is the week i ordered them.

  • Mega Man X9 in the SNES style developed by Inti Creates
  • Super Mario RPG 2 developed using SM3DW's engine
  • Xenosaga trilogy remaster
  • GTA V port
  • 2.5D Contra 5
  • Super Mario Galaxy 3
  • A shadow drop of a new smaller scale 3D Zelda (25 hr or so) in the style of OOT/MM
  • Resident Evil Revelation 3
  • Gunstar Heroes 3
  • Brave Fencer Musashi 3

if a single one of these predictions is wrong then my switch is going out the window

My expectations/guesses that I'd "bet money on"

Dragon Quest 3 Remake: We were told in December 2022 to expect information soon(tm). Now that every other major summer event has come and gone (where dq3 could show up), it almost had to be at the Summer direct.

Mario Party Superstars 2: Superstars never got dlc, they can reuse that engine to save on dev time, is a perfect late console title to fill in a gap. Would be marketed to fans of the GC era of MP.

Persona 3 Reloaded/5 Tactics: Feels obvious that Nintendo wants to announce both at their own show the way they did last year for the P3-P5 ports.

Tears of the Kingdom dlc: Keep the TotK gravy train rolling, announce the season pass and people who buy it now get access to master mode.

My expectations/guesses that I'm not as confident on

Prime 4: I think it's coming sooner then most expect, but if it's not this holiday I think the rereveal happens in September.

Fire Emblem 4 remake: I believe it's real, but I don't expect to see it until September for a first half 2024 launch.

Silksong: I think this is big enough to be main direct and not indie world, but I also think after the delay we won't see it until the September direct.

Rhythm Heaven: These games usually come in the later part of a consoles life, feels inevitable we'll get one sooner or later on Switch.

Donkey Kong: I think the rumored DK game is real, if it's a holiday title we'll see it this year, if it's 2024 we'll see it in September. I do think it's more likely to be this year though.

Tune in right now for a #NintendoDirect Speculation thread featuring roughly 40 days suffering focused on pain for the second half of 2023.

After being whelmed by TotK - after years of anticipation - I'm not sure where I stand on gaming in general =P . The dust still has to settle I guess.

Here's some fanfiction nonetheless:
  • Super Mario Bros. 5 for the holidays. New style, live big band soundtrack, overhauled map and lives system.
  • Skyward Sword themed Tears of the Kingdom DLC for early next year. Loftwings, Skyloft, a new dungeon or two with a unique visual style. Crimson Loftwing music plays, don't even need a remix but the botw towns do dont @ me.
  • Metroid Prime 4. Greatly enjoyed MPR, even though I didn't finish it because I don't like the boss fights and apparently the ending is two of 'em in a row. Compact open world, slightly quicker traversal compared to MPR.
  • Knack 3.
Here's my ~20% serious prediction:

There is no direct this week. There is a 4-5 minute Drake announcement video with some footage of some mysterious new games as well as some third party games that aren't officially acknowledged as announced for the Switch family of systems.

The video is followed by a Nintendo PR announcing a mid July Spaceworld event where the hardware will be demoed and official announcements will happen.
Gimme.

Direct in last week of June.
Stuff I sorta expect to see:
  • Persona 3R and Persona 5T (semes rather obvious)
  • Some more of Pikmin 4
  • Splatoon DLC
  • That new Prince of Persia game
  • Either Mario or DK
  • Stinky Horse
Stuff I hope to see:
  • Metroid Prime 4
  • Thracia Remake
  • F-Zero HD
Fever dreams:
  • Prime 2+3 Remasters
  • Thousand Year Door Remake
  • Samus Returns on Switch
  • 2D Zelda
  • Silksong
  • ReFantazio
I dunno, I'm bad at this stuff and if I have no idea what to expect, it's less disappointing I guess?

Also as a follow up to my post above, I do think the various rumored GC HD remasters are real (PM TTYD, FZero GX, WW/TP, etc), I just won't even try to guess when Nintendo will announce them and in what order.

The thing I wonder; do they just straight up port WWHD and TPHD over from Wii U when they happen or do you think they do stuff in the vein of 60FPS like they did for Skyward Sword HD?

They'd probably have to remove the Tingle Bottle in WWHD and the stamps in TPHD.

After september, when they're announced in the next and final Nintendo Switch Direct.

Tune in for roughly 40 minutes of this

Nintendo saw it and cancelled the announcement out of fear

now we aren't getting a Direct at all until Nintendo can figure out a way to make AI clones of all of us and make their own Famiboards
You.. do realize we're all clones already right? Made by the government to force Nintendo propaganda upon the world?

Let’s gooooooo Nintendo didn’t post anything today! More of a chance that it’ll be announced tomorrow! :)

I still don't really expect either TP or WWHD on Switch to be honest, or at least not this year. I'd figure they want the undivided attention on Tears.
Possibly launch window for successor.

Direct this Thursday. Announcements:
  • Camp Nintendo - join Miis, Sportsmates, and your favourite villagers on a summer break you'll never forget. Releases August
  • Paper Mario: Origami Kong - Mario and Krafty Kong unite to save the Mushroom Kingdom from total foldageddon in this papercraft platformer. Releases September
  • It Takes Toad - Captain Toad & Toadette embark on a co-operative adventure with Dr. Mario as their guide and love guru. Releases November
  • Metroid Prime: Membership Cancelled - take control of Samus Aran as you battle to stop galactic threat Jeffrey Bezos subsuming the universe. Download now on the Nintendo eShop

also yeah I forgot a new Mario Party that's 100% one of the new games in the fall.
I said on another thread somewhere I'd put money on an Animal Crossing party game coming out later this year, and whilst I don't have a great record on bets today, I feel weirdly confident on that.

Yeah I don't think they were ever going to happen on Switch. I think some insider just assumed it would make sense and others latched onto that and it morphed into a rumor.

Tune in for roughly 30 seconds of a single screenshot of Metroid Prime 4.

You joke, but that's actually more than what Nintendo gave us so far. Which was a ... logo/title announcement ... and the delay/apology video.

So i'd call this a total win.

We flipped out over a single title announcement, imagine what Metroid fans will do when seeing FOUR SCREENSHOTS

Alright everyone, with some serious talk of a Direct coming this week or next, I think it's time to move onto our second discussion topic. This one unfortunately also has the potential to take up a lot of time for responders, but I believe it's the natural point of discussion for the thread at this point: guessing the contents of the next presentation. Whether you think it'll be a general, a mini, a Partner Showcase, Pikmin 4, or even Pokémon Presents, I encourage you to predict it in as much or as little detail as you'd like. As a corollary, if you think the next presentation will be boring to predict and would rather skip to something more exciting you see coming later in the summer, feel free to do so! There are no rules here, only imagination.
Oh boy. I'm going to give this prompt a try, here are the games i think realistically could be featured in a June general Direct:

  • 2D Mario game (October 2023)
  • Mario Kart DLC Wave 5 (July 2023)
  • Splatoon 3 DLC Side Order (September/October 2023)
  • F-Zero GX HD (August 2023)
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympics: Paris 2024 (December 2024)
  • DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Wave 1 November 2023, Wave 4 April 2024)
  • Tomodachi World (September 2023) (Sounds familiar, huh?)
  • 2,5D (even more so than Country Returns and Tropical Freeze) Donkey Kong game (January 2024)
  • Everybody 1-2 Switch! (June 30 2023)
  • First look trailer for Metroid Prime 4 (March 2024) (This one will probably be the closer)
I got nothing for third parties, sorry!

You just reminded me that we never got DLC. Now I'm annoyed lol

I'm furious too, people whine about the Mario sports games getting 6 months of free dlc to add more characters, modes, etc like it's a bad thing didn't even realize how good they had it. Mario Party fans would have thrown all kinds of money at both SMP and MPS dlc we were never offered, let alone getting stuff for free.
