I want WW and TP HD ports but I really don’t think they’ll happen.

Anything Zelda would be good, but I also don’t think TotK DLC will happen anytime soon, save for maybe a content update like Master Mode.

A new 2D game would also be a nice surprise, but we are very close to being in ‘why didn’t they save that for the successor’ territory, so I’m holding low expectations for this one…

Even though I could be easily pleased by a couple of ‘simple’ ports 😅

Tomorrow is definitely a day.

- Direct opens with New Super Mario Land. It drops the usual aesthetic, music and level themes for wacky bullshit like Carpentry Zone, Savoury Food Land, and Tripping Balls World. October 2023.

Man I'm too tired and ill to even shitpost today. Gonna have coffee.

Wait until you see the ice cream cone pokemon!
I've seen that one.

Key ring just... like... Yeah I get it, Pokemon that are made to look like manmade things is a thing, but like... keys? Just a really weird concept for some reason.

Unlike what I do which is just come up with a pun and make a monster to fit that pun name like this fella called a Looking Glass

They all did not fall to their deaths and I definitely don't have a video of the Doppler effect occurring on a horse screaming as a box containing it zooms past me plummeting toward the earth
Caught up on eight pages but I kinda hope I can see the video effect of sound following the laws of physics at work in this game lol

If it’s this week it’ll likely show up in the next two days. If it isn’t well likely get a NSO announcement tomortow

It was introduced in XY (Kalos, the "France" region), which also introduced Fairy types. I believe the concept is that it is a fairy that steals keys, rather than inherently having them. Of course for mechanics and model reasons they hatch from eggs fully kitted out with keys.

It's a lovely little guy, and actually a pretty solid Pokemon.

Oh want me to show you the trash bag pokemon then? Or it's evolution, the broken trash bag pokemon?

Not sure I expect a new Mario Party this year. Remember, Super Mario Party didn't get any DLC either and it took three years for Superstars to come out. Granted, Covid may have delayed it, but still. The next Mario Party won't be until 2024 imo, probably crossgen w/ a Switch 2 version.

I want WW and TP HD ports but I really don’t think they’ll happen.

I don't see Nintendo dropping the WW and TP ports six months after TotK's release unless Nintendo has literally nothing else for the holiday and they are desperate for any content to release. I feel like those are 2024 games at best.

They are probably sitting in a "Break in case of emergency" case.

NdCube released 51 Worldwide Classics in summer 2020, though, in between the 2 Mario Party releases.

I think they could well have a game out later this year, but that it won't necessarily be Mario Party.

Also this is the fun part of Nintendo lifespans because this is when experimental titles, unexpected spin-offs, strange revivals and bizarre passion projects tend to pop up

I feel like 2D Mario and Metroid Prime 4 are like the two most likely things to show up and everything else is a wild card. Baten Kaitos would probably show up in the sizzle reel at the end, those rumored GameCube ports might actually be real, but it's hard to land and it's kinda exciting.

That is kind of what I want them to do. We now have basically every big franchise of Nintendo on the Switch, it has a huge install base, time to just be a bit crazy! Even if it doesn't stick, it'll probably still sell "fine" just due to the sheer number of consoles out there.

"Hello, I'm Eiji Aonuma, producer of the Legend of Zelda series. For the second half of this year, Nintendo will not be releasing any good games so we can prevent vote splitting for Tears of the Kingdom at the next game awards. We apologize. Instead, Nintendo will be releasing games that we would never release otherwise for the second half of 2023. First we will take an in-depth look at Everybody's 1-2 Switch, then we have trailers for the new 2D Mario game, a remake of "Mario is Missing", MP4 isn't done yet, but that's getting shadow dropped before it's finished so it doesn't compete with TotK, and a trailer for the newest Donkey Kong title, Donkey Konga 4 will be revealed. Finally, there will be TotK DLC but not for anyone who thought TotK was just BotW DLC."

If Metroid Prime 4 is in the next Direct, do you think we'll see it as the opener or the closer?

I think it would make sense to be the closer as its official reveal would be a big deal. But at the same time, it's one of the few games we already know exists, so it wouldn't technically be a surprise reveal, which would make an opening reveal make sense.

I think it'll be the closer, in my opinion.

Even though we technically know about it I don’t think that means much. I think Nintendo sees it as a closer. It’s the franchise Nintendo wants you to remember at the end. It was announced 6 years ago and haven’t seen anything.

To me Mario makes sense to open and MP4 to close.

Yeah, now that I think of it, our first official look at Tears of the Kingdom past the first reveal was the closer of the E3 2021 Direct, so a game that we know about already is still viable to be the big closing trailer. Meanwhile Metroid Dread was a first-time reveal in that Direct and it was somewhere near the middle.

wouldn't be the first time they did something like that either, they closed on Bayonetta when they were ready to show more of that and that was basically in the same situation as Prime 4 is

It would be funny if nintendo had TP and WW hd ports ready for switch and held them for a drake release and somehow the platform managed to flop like the WiiU did even with the better hardware and all the advantages of the switch platform.

I know it's impossible to happen but a nearly exact repeat of the WiiU would be kinda funny almost a decade later.

if it's this calendar year it opens, if it's later it closes

The element your not considering is the type of sequel. If the next Mario Party was MP11, built on a brand new engine with new mechanics, minigames, etc then I'd agree 2023 is too soon.

What I and others are proposing is a Superstars 2, recycling Superstar 1's engine and most of it's minigames. The dev time would mostly have gone into updating the 30-40 classic minigames they add to Superstars 2 that weren't already in the original, making 5 new boards based upon the GC era, and potentially introducing a modern take on the capsule mechanic. I think the fact we didn't get dlc for Superstars 1 is a sign the team was set to work on a more iterative sequel like we saw during the n64/gc era of MP.

Yeah, whenever Prime 4 does finally show up, I 100% expect it to be the closer. Similar to how Bayonetta 3 was the closer after a very long absence.

In my (somewhat realistic?) dreams, the June Direct will open with a brand new, non-NSMB 2d Mario, have the FE4 remake as the big middle reveal, and have a Prime 4 trailer as the closer.

At that point, I would be convinced that Wind Waker is a cursed game. At least Twilight Princess has the Wii to hang its hat on.

It'll be interesting to see what effects delaying Tears of the Kingdom had on Nintendo's broader plans for Zelda. By late 2018, Nintendo had enough Zelda in development to give them an annual title until 2022, which was presumably TotK's internal release window all along.

You can assume they've once again factored a lengthy four or five year period before the next open world title, and have remasters and spin-offs planned accordingly. If we're lucky, one title will be a new 'portable' or 2D title.

Also the lack of leaks this year has 2 sources: Nintendo has plugged the sources in NOA and NOE. We haven’t heard much of anything in the last year. There’s one avenue that they can’t block completely due to scope and that’s advertising but even that got reduced due to a big factor:
This is the first time since directs started that E3 is totally and completely dead. Even last year there was leaks due to partner communication. Everything for E3 had to be tested, communicated ahead of time, massive amounts of floor and demo material created, basically 5 months where anything appearing there would go through dozens of hands not bound directly by Nintendo and anonymous leaks were way easier. Merch, trailers, demos, all these were leak points.
That being gone and then cracking down on localization and Q&A leaks over the last 2 years means there’s almost no avenues for stuff to leak. So yeah we have no clue what they have left for the remaining third or so of the year which means it’s going to be revealed somewhere and they are extremely consistent with June

Gimme TimeSplitters trilogy/Soul Calibur trilogy and I'll be so, so content.

Also SCV is having it's servers on PS3 and 360 being shut down in seven days. Can't imagine it's related to any SC remaster rumours outside of the fact I was completely unaware online play was still available for over 11 years since launch.

How about "A Link to the Past" or "Oracle of Ages/Seasons" - TotK-style remakes? ;D

Next shareholder meeting is the 23rd, so I would think there would be a direct before then, but it's Nintendo, so who knows 🙃

Somewhat unlikely, I'd say! But given how much TotK plays with concepts from across the series, maybe we'll see some other things return in the future.

One dlc idea I have is for Koholint Island to appear in TotK as DLC... Koholint Sky Island! When you've completed it, the Wind Fish flies around Hyrule.
