Let me tell you a story.
It was March 2nd, 2017. I was so, super excited for the launch of the Switch. But, I had not yet gotten in a pre-order for Breath of the Wild or even the Nintendo Switch. The only things I had a pre-order for, were the 5 Breath of the Wild amiibo that launched the same day.
I called one of the stores around me and - by divine luck - they had both a Nintendo Switch AND Breath of the Wild left without pre-order, available for pick-up on the next day. They said they couldn't really place it as an order under my name, but I just had to be there as quick as I could.
Fast forward to the next day. I woke up early so I could hopefully go and get the console and Zelda. But first, I had another pick-up to make. I went to another shop where I had placed my pre-order for the 5 amiibo. They told me barely any came in, and I was disappointed. They went in the back to check which ones did arrive.. and by a miracle there was a complete set of 5 amiibo waiting there for me. Mine were the only pre-order that day that came in completely. I was OVER THE MOON.
Then the real nervousness kicked in. Would I make it in time to the shop, to pick up the Switch and Zelda which, as of yesterday did not have a pre-order on them? Was the journey there going to be worth it? Would it all be for naught? I stepped out of the car, and as excited as I was I entered the store with tempered expectations. I asked the woman at the checkout if they still had these two items in stock, and she replied: "Oh, I'm not sure. Let me check for you!" I mustn't lie, that dampered the excitement a bit. I was sure they wouldn't have them in stock anymore. Someone else must've gotten to them first!
But then, the checkout clerk re-emerged from the storage, with in hand, a beautiful new Nintendo Switch console, and at the time my most anticipated game of all time finally within reach: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. That might've been the best day of my life.
