My favourite take on Animal Crossing DLC and update.

"They had to release rest of the updates and DLC as one because they have no holiday seller and Animal Crossing sales have started to die down".

If Animal Crossing sales hadn't died down from where they were initially then by now every man, woman and child on the planet would have a copy along with several billion aliens.

The game is still charting though.

I've been having tons of fun with Animal Crossing lately, both with the new features that came with the update and the DLC. It's amazing how they gave new life to this game. I want to play SMTV but right now i can't afford it, will have to wait until the end of the month to buy it, but the amount of stuff to do in ACNH will be enough to keep me busy for the coming weeks. There are other games on my backlog as well but ACNH keeps pulling me lol

If you ignore Nintendo, Playstation has nothing to copy

Seriously

Oh man, my parents used to tape The Super Mario Bros Super Show off TV for me. That, along with Inspector Gadget, The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM) were childhood cornerstones for me as well. No wonder you’re one of my favorite fami!
Awww shucks

It'll either be that or Jump Rope Challenge 2: The Search for More Money
UGH, you beat me to it! 😂

Jason Bateman lectured Arlo after his video about the youtube dislikes?

Based on their past output we could get a pretty good game out of this as long as Mistwalker is involved.
Speaking of Mistwalker, has there been any word about Fantasian coming to Switch? I really don't want to have to buy a Apple product just to play that.

Booooo, time!

Its more Labo kits.

j/k

Talking about the “casual” games, or for “non-enthusiastic” gamers. Nintendo has a clearly interested on putting all that were once successful on DS/3DS hardware on Switch. We got Brain Age, Big Brain Academy and Clubhouse Games, why not continue?

Nintendogs, Tomodachi, Art Academy, Style Boutique are very likely to happen again.

Also wouldn’t be surprised if we ever get a spiritual sequel to Wii Sports/Resort or Music, lime Ring Fit.

Other software like Math/Sight/English Training or Cooking Guide, honestly don’t know.

Yes!! It clicked on my second try and holy hell I love it. The Mantis Lords fight is what sealed the deal for me. Incredible game.
hell yeah hell yeah hell yeah!!

big shout out to everyone who tried again and had it click, I’m so happy for y’all

as always I know it’s not necessarily a game everyone will love, but… no game has felt more incredible and full of discovery to me. this little hand-drawn gem beats Breath of the Wild for me and I fucking loved Breath of the Wild.

Yeah I really liked Hollow Knight. Then I saw how the artist put it together and then I loved Hollow Knight.

Don't tell this to anyone but one of my biggest Switch-era wishes has been for Ganbarion to make games with Nintendo again. Even if it's just support for Swiitch Fit U, at least I won't have to see another One Piece game by them.

another possible stinker, if my “modern” Legend of Zelda threat “prediction” comes to pass

Link’s Cross-Browser Training

everyone’s favorite green and/or blue clad hero of time and/or other things works in web dev and has to check multiple browsers and mobile devices to make sure his projects display nicely across the board — and find appropriate code solutions if they don’t!
  • exciting spot-the-differences gameplay!
  • gyro cursor!
  • teaches rudimentary coding!
  • you can use in-game currency to buy convoluted frameworks that introduce problems further down the line!
  • experience real-world loading times and billing premiums from Hyrule’s two-to-three ramshackle ISP monopolies!
  • find out which CMS makes Link cry the loudest!
  • use the Lens of Truth to inspect element!
  • get on the company Slack to ask friendly and not-at-all annoying co-workers like Tingle for help!
  • realize you were the most qualified person on your small team the whole time and nobody can help you!
  • create clear and helpful training documents and tutorials for your team so that they can solve some of their own problems!
  • embrace the joy of finding out that those materials have been left unread in inboxes for multiple years!
  • experience the gripping terror of a tiny but crucial piece of widespread net code breaking — leveling your live client sites in the process — because the one furry in West Texas who maintained it died of COVID and every single thing in your life is delicately balanced on tiny pieces that can shatter at literally any time!

Bought Eastward today and will start tonight. The game looks amazing at least. Any opinions on it here on Fami?
I was about to make a post about it, actually… I’m only in chapter three but I have some grievances

The gameplay is good! I like it a lot!

The art and colors? beautiful!

The scenes, and the scene pacing, and the dialogue, and the re-use of musical cues………… not as much of a fan!

and the unnecessary random creep shit and low-key misogyny just peppered in is like… why y’all? why?

like, for example, I was just put in a situation where I (as the child) in a mandatory quest had to steal a dominatrix outfit from a combination casino / sex club for a woman who did not want to wear it because a bunch of dudes thought it would make their circus more marketable

like the writing just does so many weird things like that! or even just random characters saying this little kid needs a boyfriend?? like if I wanted to relive weird passive-aggressive and heteronormative things adults said to child me in the nineties, I would just go to a normie Reddit or go to one of those mass terrorism “gender reveal” events people keep talking about

and like again, I do have an admittedly low threshold for cringe — but if it were more minor, or less frequent, or if the weird dialogue + cutscenes + maybe you automatically go to the place or maybe you have to walk there + scripted events weren’t so frequent and driving and whiplashy… maybe I’d be less annoyed?

like for a game about a kid, her quiet but caring guardian, and the end of the world — it’s just got so much weird scripted shit going on

the gameplay is really fun and I enjoy it! I just feel like I have to fight for every scrap of it

and maybe I’m just like… bad at enjoying RPGs

but this is next level

there’s so little choice, you just have to go through the conversations. and sometimes they have great moments! but so much of it is a big “???” from me

like it’s not like choosing to do a sidequest, or like anything in Undertale where you do some talking + puzzle + walking + fighting with excellent pacing and sound cues

it just feels so convoluted

and the sound cue whiplash in conversations is really fucking bad. like “oh this is a designated tender conversation! ope person b started talking so here’s the zany sound cue! ope here’s the unduly upbeat basic cozy conversation sound cue!” sometimes all within the same chunk of dialogue.

and the scripting / pacing — another example, I’m doing a crucial task that diverged into another crucial task while something was on the stove. and I kept going back because I was like “if I leave this on the stove I’ll fail the first crucial task instead of this other thing the game wants me to do” — and it kept redirecting me by force. I had to do the entire bad idea section to be able to even get back to the thing I was now destined to fail.

but the gameplay is good, dammit! and I wanna get at the meat of the mystery! there’s just SO MUCH that feels SO INORGANIC in between!

That'd be one of those games like Animal Crossing where I'd never play it but would very much appreciate that it exists. 🤣

What even is this game lol
I’m curious but I’m worried it’s trying too hard

Goat Simulator was great

but this seems like “we wanna do that at maximum zany”

which might be fun

or insufferable

just remembered that next month nintendo is actually going to do a physical release of the GTA remasters 😬
Ugh... So Nintendo gonna distribute some broken ass ports that(presumably) comes with misogyny on the package???

I think I'm the only person on earth that liked season 2 of The Promised Neverland 0-0

Maybe because I didn't read the manga
I have yet to watch Promised Neverland, but I often feel this way about Fullmetal Alchemist. I LOVE the original anime to death, even though it is apparently very different from the manga in the second half? And pretty much everyone I ever talk to about it constantly just says "Well Brotherhood is SO much better and more faithful." Which I get, but like... I still like the original! And it feels like ever since Brotherhood it's been really tough to talk about liking the original online

Don't jump to conclusions. Nintendo has produced a lot of mediocrity over the past 20 years.

Maybe you're getting a sequel to Flip Wars.
Or maybe the dream case scenario of a sequel to Animal Crossing amiibo Festival!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

I can't enjoy the anime at all. They fast-forwarded 4 arcs and 150+ chapters in eight episodes. The last episode was a slide-show of the last 30 chapters.....

I’m in the same boat — I much prefer the original series to Brotherhood

Because Silksong is in fact a direct sequel to the original Hollow Knight.
“direct sequel” is… an interesting choice of term here

directly related and connected, and a “game sequel” but not necessarily chronologically (according to Team Cherry)

so… hopefully we’ll find out what that all means next year!
