Just did the exact same
"Oh, I've just fallen into hell, huh?"

Working from home today (last day before my holidays) so my physical copy should hopefully arrive by the time we're done with our first video meeting. 🤞

6 hours in, some story done but mostly exploration too.

I have played this game with my mouth open constantly. I’m in sheer, complete awe.

They sure as hell did it again.

Ultra hand is kinda blowing my mind
My spatial awareness is so bad, building and constructing stuff is not intuitive to me

But

I spent 15 minutes building a bridge to cross a lake, despite many other easier ways to do so

Why?

To prove I could

Yeah after 2 hours, I can see the potential of the ultrahand if you put some time, but fortunately so far I've also found alternatives that don't requieres complex things, which is good for me as I suck at building things

Was not expecting to see parallax occlusion mapping in the Shrines (check out the pebbles on the ground)! I can't recall it ever being used in BOTW.

EDIT:

Looks like POM is used outside of Shrines as well. Looks great!

Holy shit

Can I just say it feels wonderful to be playing a AAA game with an incredible respect for the player's intelligence?

No companion spoonfeeding you solutions, or even pop-ups telling you what to do for these puzzles. You got these Ultrahand puzzles and whatnot, you're kinda left to your own devices, and Nintendo, famous for making games for all ages, looks you in the eye and says "figure it out, bitch"

I haven't even finished the tutorial and I'm absolutely blown away

Please tell me you guys got goosebumps when you discover your first
tower

in Hyrule? I smiled like an idiot and felt like a child.

This game is genuinely something special.

I don’t know if they calibrated the movement or I’ve just gotten used to the controls, but Ultrahand feels less unwieldy to me compared to Magnesis. It’s easy to build stuff. I might be playing around with it more than I thought I would.

Fuse, though, oh my god, Fuse. I just got it and it is already so much silly fun.

You'll get use to it.

I am now in possession of a fine ToTK copy, cost me 51.49€! Once again, not preordering and going for day one physical has been a winning choice. Will wait till after school to play with my kids though. Might as well get sole work done in the mean time!

So happy for us all! These are fantastic days for Zelda fans. The hype train was a wild ride, can’t wait to read all the spoiler discussions in a few days.

Maybe you should spoiler tag that, I didn't know they were in the game :(

I managed to put an hour in today in the morning and it was beautiful. That whole intro sequence hyped me up so much.

I can't wait to sit down to play more later today.

It took me like 3 1/2 hours to complete the great sky island and I stopped there for the night. This game is incredible haha. It took me a bit to get the hang of Ultrahand's controls but once it clicked it was great. It also is taking me some time to remember that I have no health again. I am so used to being at full hearts and able to take the strongest hits that I keep rushing into fighting without thinking lol

Ultrahand is honestly surprisingly intuitive. I was expecting worse control wise considering previews and some early impressions but honestly it just works

Fuse seems a bit limited in the starting area given you don't have as many fun options for materials, but it's still pretty fun. Semi related note but smashing boulders feels so damn satisfying

Overall, very happy with the opening so far, feels similar to BoTW in some ways but that's not a wholly bad thing in my book, and it's already starting to carve its own path with the new abilities

Spent 20 minutes creating a deranged bridge contraption for a puzzle only to find out the actual solution was much easier

It was the Masakura Shrine where you're NOT supposed to make increasingly weird ladders to reach every piece of ultrahand material. If you get to that shrine don't waste the amount of time I did lmao

After playing the tutorial island I can already feel that this will be the game of the forever. Even though you have more traversal options, the road to some shrines were surprisingly difficult and fun to figure out..

The game is awesome so far, but I'm already somehow stuck on the Great Sky Island while trying to reach the objective point up on the high cliff on the snow island! Can't find a way up there with all these ice walls. I'm sure I gotta ultrahand some stuff but still, wasn't expecting to feel even remotely stumped this early.

I think I’m back to college level of unhinged gaming. I played from 2 p.m to 5 a.m yesterday slept a like 4 hours and just want to play more. 15 hours in, still no story done apart from intro. I just get lost for hours in
The Depths, I love the gameplay loop there. It’s creepy, there is cool loot, challenging fights, stumble it upon absolutely massive ruins in the dark is sooooo good

Look for that waterfall. There is a small spot rock trough the ice

Found my first stable, feels like a place to stop for the night. Four hours in and loving it.

Loved to find in the starting area that the great boulder that you can push to smash the enemies down the hill is back from BOTW.

Put in 4 straight hours and forcing myself to stop. Just landed back in Hyrule. I love it already. Can't wait to keep playing in the morning!

I am completely shocked by the level design of the tutorial area. I figured that some parts of the game might have a bit more linearity then BotW, but this is like a region in Skyward Sword.

I can imagine that this game will become very controversial among newer BotW fans who love the freedom of that game, but as a classic Zelda fan I am incredibly happy.

I actually appreciated how directed the opening tutorial area is, and I imagine that the Sky Islands use more traditional level design guidance over the full freedom of the surface in general.

Played 4 hours.

I have this little tingling feeling in my chest that tells me I already know this is going to be my favorite video game

This was something a lot of us predicted when the Aonuma footage dropped. I think it was a very smart decision to separate the game into different layers with different playstyles.

My sentiments exactly! I haven't even left the tutorial area yet because I'm just enjoying the level design so much. It already feels like a very different game from BOTW.

Just popping in to say that when I got my physical copy at opening time, a queue of about 30+ people had formed behind me in the store. Can't remember the last time I saw that. This game's going to be colossal.

Anyway I dashed back home clutching my copy like Charlie Bucket with his golden ticket. About to boot up now. See you on the other side folks!

Opening is wonderful, in terms of atmosphere, cinematic and narrative

But man..
How good are they in making everything playable?!

I mean, the first couple of hours are literally an introduction to everything (gameplay, features, actions, powers, mechanics) and still..you are playing the game, enjoying it, looking around these wonderful landscapes

Chapeau Nintendo, once again

And how incredible is to live again the same wow effect going out from the very first closed area, exactly as in BOTW, just to feel how this game is both the same and so different from that one

Plus, and this is the last comment for now...this game needs to win a prize for its sound design: this is undisputable

The clock has struck, the wait is finally over. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is officially out.

I wont be playing it myself, i'm very busy in real life for the rest of the month, but i that you all enjoy the game!

Have fun Fami!

Is the paraglider obtained in the first sky island? Im at the jumping point to the surface of Hyrule but I want to make sure that I dont miss it.

I really do not understand how they made this game.

Most games that try anything remotely close to this are riddled with glitches and polish issues.
Considering Nintendo is all about debugging and QA before their games hit the shelves, it helps. Plus, it seems their teams just get the time to fully develop their titles.

There is a reason this game took so many years to release, and why it got such massive delays. Nintendo has always allowed Zelda to keep cooking until it's "perfect".

Not always. Wind waker has very obvious seams where content was cut because the game was rushed out, but they've very deliberately never done that again.
