And nothing will change 🙃 Except the devs will continue to grow thicker skin and be driven off Twitter and all accompanying social media.

Things are changing though. Legends is proof of that alone. But also, check out the first party thread, they recently opened a new R&D department and have ~51 job listings.

This blows everything out of the water.

You’d think, as an RGG superfan, f-zero GX would be my favourite

But nah it’s X

Though I’d love to see RGG get another shot at F-Zero

Oh dang, my cynicism is unwarranted for once? 👀

Dexit never bothered me because I figured if they had to make cuts to maintain quality that's understandable, but I felt like SwSh still didn't do enough until all the DLC had finally released. If changes are being made to make something substantially enjoyable to pick up day one, I could see gen 9 looking extremely promising

ew gross lmao

vs

it's not even a contest imo

I thought the F-Zero X theme was in GX (and now I realize I've only heard the song in Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8), but still GX's Big Blue is nostalgic childhood to me.

I refuse to tolerate any slander for Shotgun Kiss. Level AND song are chef kiss

Guess when X comes to NSO I'll finally sub to the expansion

Tangentially related, but I am disappointed at how much cynism there is on gaming Twitter. The worse is that it often leads to intellectual laziness (i.e shouting anticonsummer at every occasion).

What prompted me to say this is the shared sentiment that YouTube is removing the Dislike Button to "not hurt the feelings of big corporations".

I am still trying to make sense of this.
Its Twitter. Even when you think massive change is coming because of the numerous complaints, you realize that Twitter isn't indicative of the average consumer attitude and see these complaints result in nothing (Pokemon/Most Nintendo complaints)

Me before Bayonetta 3 re-reveal: "I think Platinum games is losing there touch. Something is going on.
Me after Bayonetta 3 re-reveal: "Can I have Bayonetta 3 yesterday?"

Both Mute City and Big Blue's themes are in GX as well. You have to unlock them.

These things just take time. They moved into the same building as EPD 8 a year ago so I hope to see the fruits of these changes with their next game after Arceus but it might take longer than that. They have a lot of catching up to do.

all this F-Zero stuff after I find out Game Freak hired one of the programmers whom was responsible for making the game 60fps is funny

I think I've just been outed as having never fully unlocked everything in game 😅

Playing Ruby Cup on medium was always too hard for me even during my most recent replay 6 or 7 years ago. I still have never experienced those Diamond League racetracks all these years later lmfao

Oh damn, didn't even know they're bunkmates with EPD8. Yeah, between the injection of new talent and sharing office space with some of the best even if it takes a while to catch up, they're gonna be firing on all cylinders and finally reap some rewards.

I don't doubt there are bad faith actors who will always find something to complain about, but if they can turn around even a few minds who genuinely want to see improvements I think it'll pay off in spades for them.

Not sure that this warrants a new thread, but I was wondering where you all stand on the physical VS digital debate, specifically on Switch. I'm torn because the portable nature lends itself well to digital, and games I play all the time (or online ones) are more convenient. Give me your thoughts!
I mostly get digital because it's a pain for me to change carts. I do still get some games physically though.

I'm mostly physical because it allows my wife and I to share games easily. I wish I had more digitally though because I'm lazy as hell and never want to get up to change carts lol.

Multiplayer/multiplayer-focused games (Pokemon, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Monster Hunter, Animal Crossing) or games I seemingly play regularly (RFA if it was an option 😒) I get digital. Otherwise single player games that I cycle through once they're finished (Zelda, Paper Mario, 3DAS, LM3, etc) I buy physical copies.

not just EPD Tokyo, but HAL Laboratory and 1Up as well
Goddamn, really eh? Learn something new everyday lol

I could only imagine the stories shared among devs there haha

GOAT F-zero soundtrack.

Shit hot FIRE 🔥🔥🔥 Holy fuck that goes HARD

I retract my doubts; GX OST > X OST

all that being said, my favorite f-zero soundtrack is still SNES

honestly it might be my favorite F-ZERO
the SNES racing games make me so dizzy I can’t play them

and like I was ALIVE for them, idk why my body rejects them so hard

weirdly I did NOT have that issue with DOS classic Wacky Wheels

I’ve been keeping out of the thread until I finished Metroid Dread. Now that I finished it I got to say. This is the worst thing I’ve ever experienced!

How dare they just go and create perfection?!?! How will I ever be able to play another video game knowing it’s not Metroid Dread?

For real tho, what an amazing achievement. From gameplay to story, all is fantastic! What an experience. The Switch has really brought out some real masterpieces.

So what if the NSO N64 December update is: Banjo, F-Zero, Kirby and one random third party we don’t know about?

I buy digital, partially for the sheer convenience, and also to try something different.

Namely: I had physical copies for a lot of my ye olde shit, most of which I traded in when getting my Switch. That was a mistake.

So now I go full digital because my games will always exist, no matter what happens to them, and I can’t trade them in or break them like a fool!

which will work great until the servers go away or my SD card melts and I rue the day I went digital!

so it’s really down to choice. I am NOT saying that I’m making a good choice.

The best shit with physical (other than being able to sell them later on, which you simply can’t do with digital) is that you can loan them to friends.

but my gaming moods are a whirlwind — if I can just pick a random icon and play with no effort required, that’s ideal

pipe dream: a “random” button on the Switch that just starts a random game for you. I know most people would hate that but I want it.

until then I’ll just keep tediously updating my iOS “What Should I Play?” script

Digital for convenience (plus limited space at home). I still buy physical games for special releases (limited or collectors editions of big games).

Thanks to Mario Party Superstars having insanely bizarre AI I've moved on to just playing Mario Party 2 and 3 again and that's been super fun.

Has anyone else experienced the AI just being completely nuts. To name a few things that have happened...

Had an AI use a CDB to hit a red space and prevent themselves from getting a star on Woody Woods (they could've used the block to get to the star before the sign change but instead chose to not only miss the star but to also hit a red block).

Had an AI use a CDB to hit a bowser space for seemingly no reason.

Had an AI use a CDB to hit a big piranha plant on Peach's Birthday cake and give me a star.

Had an AI use a CDB to hit the eventful space on Spaceland to run them all the way back and miss a star.

Had an AI purposefully lap down the bowser laser counter on Spaceland and lose all of their money.

Had an AI use the I-warp on Horror Land to put themselves on the opposite side of the map from the star.

Had an AI throw away a Boo Bell for a double dice even though they over 50 coins and could steal

Have had several AI just buy golden pipes and sit on them until the game ends even though they had plenty of coins to buy stars.

Weird game. I enjoyed what I played of it but I think when I get the itch to play Mario Party I'll just play the classics lol. Decent return to form though and it is still fun when you've got enough people to play a 4-player match.

I used to be mostly physical when possible but since COVID I've moved to mostly digital, which has been pretty great and a lot more convenient for me. Plus since my state doesn't tax digital purchases, you can usually get digital cards on sale, and you get more Gold points, I usually end up saving money going digital, especially on new releases.

Still go physical occasionally if a game's digital download is too large or if there's a good physical deal.

Seems like the GTA remasters aren't """definitive""" considering there numerous flaws.

A shame

Uff gta turned out shit I'm really sad. I was looking forward to play gta and SMT5. It would have been a great mix. Now it's just gonna be smt5. If I don't end up getting weak and buy pokemon next week too.

As here are (surprisingly) so many German-speaking people: Can we all agree that Nintendo‘s more recent Nintendo-Direct-Artikelwahl is strange, saying Der Nintendo Direct instead of Die Nintendo Direct?

The news about framerate issues with GTA Trilogy is disappointing, I guess I'll wait for a patch. Planning to get Metroid Dread and SM3DW+BF for Christmas anyway

Has anyone here purchased the GTA trilogy? i know the framerate drops but can anyone tell how the handheld performance is? Are the drops as frequent as docked? does the game look 720p?

Personally? Playing a bit of Vice City, I think they're LESS frequent than handheld mode but that's just me. Looks okay in both modes, though handheld mode doesn't have any shadows at all? Weird omission. Docked framerate is fine, defo around 720p not higher.

Things that get 'full price' retail releases I get physically where I can (it's usually cheaper and it's easier to share across systems with friends); I go digital for indies and digital-only (obviously). I'm increasingly buying digital on PS4 as the sales offer such deep discounts and I have more storage space there.

Related question: do people use multiple SD cards? I know Nintendo advises against this, but upgrading to a larger card from my current one would be so annoying - I'd need an SD reader peripheral for my laptop, plus the free space to copy everything over before moving it to a new card. It's not super necessary, I can archive stuff, but if I saw a good deal I'd consider upgrading.

I'm starting to think Rockstar started work on the trilogy super late/very recently once they realized GTA V wasn't making it out this holiday season. Take Two wanted some cash so they told Rockstar to get something out and this is what they came out with.

So my partner's been curious about wtf is a "Shin megami tensei" and why I can't stop talking about it.

Can't wait for his reaction to Mara.

So Mario Party Superstars is looking to have small drops everywhere.

NA sales must be super high too.

That’s a plus for their online subscription with a huge title that works.

I only use one card (128GB) Even though I am physical whenever possible, it doesn't take long to fill up that memory stick (looking at you Mortal Kombat 11 with your 26GB install download). I am planning on gettin a 1TB microSD card sometime during the holidays and will have it on stand by for when the next Switch hardware comes out that I actually want to purchase.

It's good to see. It's probably my favorite Mario Party game in a while (tho I thought SMP was pretty neat).
