I'm a little late to the conversation, but...
Completely anecdotal but all of my friends and acquaintances (so at this point, 30s and upward, that was painful to write) all had an N64 or have the fondest memories for N64. Not just friends near me, but online friends too...for a console that definitively outsold it and was a demonstrable huge success, I just do not see the same sort of reverence for the PlayStation 1. Maybe Nintendo won the long-term game, who knows.
My friends and I are around 5 years younger than that, and the exact same phenomenon occurs, except with GameCube vs PlayStation 2. PS2 may be the best selling system, especially compared to how much it crushed the GameCube, but I don't think it gets the same love. And I think this...
My theory? It's because Nintendo 64 was a better multiplayer system. Everyone has memories of playing N64 with their friends.
Most of the best experiences on PlayStation were single-player (Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot).

Even the most hardcore PlayStation fans wanted to play a few rounds of Goldeneye 007 or Mario Kart 64.
...and this...
Everyone that had the N64 played the same games. That's one reason why N64 nostalgia is stronger than PSX nostalgia.
...also applied to the GameCube.

Played some Pocket Card Jockey today and it's still a blast. I need it or something similar on Switch.

Oh yeah, that reminds me I still haven't bought Skyward Sword. Whoops.

Unless the SMT V dub is bad, I'll go with the dub

We will get to see what Skyward Sword is at.

Interesting to see how a 3D non BOTW Zelda title will do
I would think a new 3D non-BotW-type Zelda would probably do maybe half or more of the sales that BotW on a popular Nintendo system like the Switch but I'm sure even a remaster like SS is doing decent. Gonna guess it's well above what it sold on the Wii?

take it with a grain of salt, but this lists silksong's release date as february 1st.
it could be a placeholder, and I’m not going to hazard too many clown guesses…

but first half 2022 is where my heart and convoluted analysis had it pegged before any of Nvidia’s mixed bag of ambitions leaked.

I had heard about this but I didn’t realize it actually had an app ID in the system. Could still mean nothing at all. And if it does mean anything could absolutely be a placeholder. But…

a clown nose honks in the distance

damn am I not Canadian enough to know what b’ahy is???
Do you remember a webcomic by the name of Manly Guys Doing Manly Things, aka The Punchline Is Machismo?

I have no idea if Canadian Guy in that series is actually using some lesser known slang but it's been engraved in my head since my university days, and I assume it's a bizarre portmanteau of buddy, alright, and guy

Well that's weird. The Zelda Game and Watch disappeared from my orders and I thought they cancelled it without telling me. Now I got an email today saying my preorder is still being fulfilled. I doubt I need it but oh well.

This is a deep cut as far as internet references go so I'll reply to this and say that Canadian Guy's speech is described as backwater northern. It's more potentially more alien than quebecois and newfie speak, which if you're Canadian means a lot.

Whew I’m finally caught up with this thread today! Y’all are on a roll here.

Anyway I started Yoshi’s Story and it sparks joy. This game is a nostalgia bomb for me. I’m loving it.

I really miss tolkir's eShop threads. How will I know now where to waste money on!? Will there be a substitute available here, Familords?

Yea Mina is makin it but it's delayed for personal reasons, it might pop up this week.

You learn something new every day 😋 I figured it was probably adjacent to a Newfoundland accent but didn't think it had a strong enough connection

Was it a mistake to revisit Three Houses a week before SMTV? Probably.
Will I regret doing it? Definitely.
Is this going to stop me? Not in the slightest.

A little late to the party, but YES. I'm already super sold on Seth Rogan as DK, so I am excited! We could see both the extended Kong Family AND the Kremlings on the big screen! That's a dream come true for me!

So, taking everything we know and all the rumors we've heard so far in mind, this is my proposed timeline for Donkey Kong projects from this point onwards:
  • 2022: New Donkey Kong game is announced and released
  • 2022: Donkey Kong guest stars in the Mario movie.
  • 2023: We might potentially see Donkey Kong themed DLC for the new Mario+Rabbids
  • 2023-2024: The Donkey Kong Movie releases
  • 2024: Donkey Kong Land opens up in Super Nintendo World Japan
  • 2025: Universal opens Super Nintendo World Orlando, which will probably have it's own Donkey Kong Land
And if the rumors of DK getting a dedicated team within Nintendo are true, we could be seeing another game sometime around SNW Orlando's opening. Not to mention whatever other Mario spinoffs the great ape finds himself involved with

Looking at all this, the next fours years could be very busy for good old Donkey Kong, and I couldn't be happier!

Winter feels like it's here. Right on time this year.

Weird.
I live in a desert, so my concept of 'winter' is super skewed and weird.

Is RE4 a difficult game? I’m gonna start it soon and I’m honestly scared. I’ve only ever played the first level up to when that bell rings I think, and I remember it being absolutely terrifying. I don’t think I can handle the game being hard on top of that!

Resident Evil 4 does have QTEs. I hate QTEs.

For a new player it might be hard.

I honestly can’t remember, I’ve beaten the game so many times that I know every little detail about the game. Including how enemy react or are located, like scripted events lol

With the new economy I’m disappointed that superstars didn’t bring the best MP3 item back

I remember it being fairly challenging, but not impossibly hard.

I could see Silksong releasing in Feb, because they could use the game to celebrate Hollow Knight's 5th anniversary.

I hate most difficult games and I have probably beat RE4 about 40 times since its original release and don't find it very hard. You might have difficulty adjusting to the controls but you should be able to adjust fairly quickly. Some QTEs late game that are BS the first few times you play. Can't count how many times I died to one particular late game one.

Resident Evil 4 kinda has a reverse difficulty curve in my opinion. The first village fight can be pretty tough for newcomers but as you get more weapons and learn the enemy patterns, it become at lot easier. Bosses though are where the real challenge comes in. Some aren't too bad but other can be quite tough.

So it’s like BotW but with chainsaws

I saw It Follows.

It was pretty great. Cool soundtrack too.

I usually find all horror films to be bad or meh at best. It Follow is legitimately good.

RE4 has a very unique dynamic difficulty system, so that as long as you're persistent if you do have trouble with certain sections it will make it easier on subsequent tries.

The QTE parts don't get easier though, and there's one section late in the game that is utter bullshit and took me like 30 tries when I was a kid. Now I can probably do it half asleep.

"Nintendo really needs to be called out more for the garbage company it is. Hopefully this decade people are more receptive to it." - Resetera 2021
Ubisoft or Activision Blizzard are garbage companies. Anybody who thinks Nintendo is one ignores that it is an excellent place to work for and does respond to reasonable criticism.

@Dragoncaine @Legion of Primes

I finally beat the Halo: CE campaign after four months 🙃, so I'm ready for Halo to finally be ported to Switch when the game is so fresh in my mind and how much I struggled to beat the game on normal difficulty lol

Say I want to jump into the multiplayer, what's the best game I should download in MCC that's still semi-active?
