Link's Awakening even got a new logo in the Breath of the Wild style - white font with the palm tree coming out the logo, reminiscent of the flower in the BotW logo
This reminded me that Hyrule Warriors logo also got the 'weathered' treatment.

What quality of life improvements does Prime 1 even need? It honestly still plays great to this day. The only thing I can think of is maybe adding checkpoints rather than booting you back to your last save if you die.
I would only buy it if they had a toggle for the head bobbing.

As someone who's played through all the 2D Metroids but never had the chance to touch the trilogy, I'm primed and ready. Thanks Nate. Have you played the whole trilogy?
Something related. Tried to play through Prine for the Metroid challenge before I had to uninstall my emulation stuff stuff on my steam deck due to a bug. Doing that turned out to wipe out all my rom saves and I didn’t realize it would. And I got far.

The view doesn't actually bob in Prime, only the arm cannon and the helmet overlay. And the helmet can be turned off entirely. The gun bob is also a lot less noticeable in Corruption/Trilogy due to having free aim at all times, and the new releases will have motion controls so it will probably be similar.

I don't know why this reminded me but I wish they'd release that BotW concept game that was first created as the first NES Zelda game
Make it a full featured product for 30 bucks easy money as i am sure you could polish it up and add to it with a very modest budget as it is.

So turning off the overlay turns off the head bob? I never knew that. Doesn't that turn off the indicators for stuff like health and ammo, though?

There are separate settings for helmet opacity, and opacity for the rest of the HUD (health etc.).

I never really noticed any view bob, just the helmet and gun, with the gun being very pronounced. If there's view bob, it can't be much. But I guess disabling the helmet wouldn't disable it in that case.

I promised one more giveaway so here we go.

Predict the exact length of the next Nintendo Direct. $5 US eShop giftcard giveaway.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Let's try to guess the exact length of the next Nintendo Direct presentation. We are talking about US version of Nintendo Direct here since the japanese one will actually have the different length as always. What I mean is the Nintendo Direct upload video that will be there after the presentation. So the whole thing from the intro to the final Nintendo logo.

I am being generous here and listing you some of the recent Directs and their durations:

September 2019 - announced as roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 38:45.
February 2021 - announced as roughly 50 min. - Ended up being 50:46.
E3 2021 - announced as a roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 38:51.
September 2021 - announced as a roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 40:35.
February 2022 - announced as a roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 40:48.
September 2022 - announced as a roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 45:22.

What are the rules?

You have to quote this post (so I can find your guess easily) and type the exact length you think the Direct will have. For example: 42:22. Your first number being minutes and the second one being seconds. Or just type it as a 42 minutes and 22 seconds. Just type it somehow that I can understand it. If you type in something like "42 minutes" and you are not typing seconds that means your response is 42:00.

If you don't quote this message you are not participating. I will not search many pages just to find your guess. Shoutout to bellydrum for doing the sweet every quote message button.

The person who will guess the exact length or the nearest one will get the giftcard. If more people guess the exact length (it could happen lol) than one of these will be selected by random selection.

You can send your guess until Sunday, February 5th, 12pm UTC. You can edit your guess until this end date.

Good luck.

Faster beam and visor switch

Faster scanning

Modern fps & gyro controls

Tweak to the artifact locations/hunt so you don't need to back track as much for them late game

Improve the map to make it easier to use

Reduced load times using elevators being areas

Reduced load times when opening certain doors

For players who get stuck/lost, an improved system for guiding them to the next major upgrade/boss

Incorporate the fusion suit as a new extra hard mode

Ability for players to adjust difficulty down during the game

All of the above would be some really nice qol improvements and tweaks to a MP1 remaster. If I knew the game like the back of my hand I'm sure there are tweaks to various rooms or some routes that could be made to make them better to go through.

As someone who isn't really a Metroid or Pikmin fan, I'll mainly be looking for the 10 seconds of new footage TOTK will give us. Fingers crossed for smaller stuff like Tomodachi and Style Savvy. I've kinda given up on the dream of Mario Party Superstars DLC...

Just the usual modern day controls you find in your typical FPS type games. Other than that… nothing. I don’t think Checkpoints are necessarily needed as the trek back isn’t usually very far anyway, but I also wouldn’t oppose it.
Kind of a can of worms there though. I wonder if they would then update other aspects of the game, namely enemy attack patterns, AI, etc. to balance the addition of better controls, or just change the controls without any other changes. The latter option would kind of compromise the experience a bit I think.

Still holding out hope that the reason Metroid Prime Redux hasn’t released is they were waiting on an outsourced studio to modernise 2 and 3 so they can release trilogy HD before Prime 4

I don’t think so. The Wii version was basically modern day with the motion controls serving as the right stick. Don’t know if they made any of those changes your mentioning in that version or not. I think the game would be fine either way. And if not then, idk… but they would have to have modern controls in or the game would be torn to shreds for not having it.

idk what YouTuber you're talking about, this rumor started with the owner of gameindustry.biz. Given that Emily has talked an oncoming deluge of legacy rereleases, it's clear they're reaching into their back catalogue to fill out the rest of this year
(sorry for delay I'm just catching up)

Is Emily still posting? I've always loved her insight on stuff, I thought she'd given up on sharing stuff because of trolls and whatnot? I follow her on Twitter still, but is she posting elsewhere? (If you want to keep it discrete because I know she's spoken before, you can share it privately via DM)

Team January can't die anymore, it's science.

We died last year, so to come back this year means we're a zombie. But in order to kill a zombie, you have to go for the brain. But does Team January have a brain?

See, we can't be killed

Ugh, that really sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. How many hours, would you say? And were you enjoying it before it got screwed up?

is it just me or has this been the longest week EVER, with all the doom and gloom rumors we got for January even that managed to fly by

Interestingly enough, the week has flown by for me. Time to enjoy the weekend and then wait a few days for the direct!

I'll do you one better; the Tears of the Kingdom segment will be at the end and will start at 2:38:30.
  1. 21 seconds to introduce the segment
  2. 1:12 gameplay trailer w/ some opening act story
  3. 1:29 talking about mechanics and things shown in the gameplay trailer
  4. 58 seconds showcasing the ZOLED
  5. 3:27 story trailer to wrap up the direct
If this is wrong I will drink water

I don't think we are getting 2 trailers and certainly not 3 and half minute story one. It will be gameplay + story, just like 2017 trailer.

Prime will probably change the Chozo Keys hunting it was basically the only thing most did not like

And Im so excited for F-Zero, for sure they will rebalance the game, and I can finally play without loosing all the times

I got close to the end. Was enjoying it too. I’m just waiting for the remake to be announced before I try again. Headaches have killed my motivation to go back and replay for now. I was playing it with prime hack on my steam deck.

I honestly don't expect to see Metroid Prime at next week's Direct. I think that will be in June or later.
I think it depends on F-Zero and also how much distance Nintendo wants between Prime 1 and 4

I dont F-Zero and Prime 1 woul be in the same part of the year, and F-Zero in summer make sense

But maybe Nintendo want a full year and more between Prime 1 and 4, especially if Prime 4 like Prime 1 is the big november game of 2024

seing all those "leaked" bits come out feels like a) it was always a twitter direct, or b) they have enough to show to first get the smaller anouncements out of the way?

The Kirby trailer from yesterday actually makes the Direct more likely.
There's still a massive new feature to announce (the post-game), and it wouldn't make sense to release a minor mini-game trailer before that, unless they're saving the new feature for something bigger, like a Direct.

43:09, I'm 100% confident

I honestly don’t know what to expect from both first and third parties. I mean outside of Zelda and Pikmin, and maybe Advance Wars? That honestly makes it exciting.

Like we could hear about MP in some way, but also if nothing Metroid is releasing until later in the year I could see them holding it to have a tighter marketing schedule. We only saw Dread 4 months before release.

Of course there were rumors about some additional potential GameCube remasters, but even if that’s true, we wouldn’t see everyone at the same Direct, so what would release first? Feeling this uncertain about specific things makes me more curious about this Direct. I hope there’s no big leaks from here on out.

I don't want to dampen your hype, but the amount of DLC they need to talk about does make the field a little less open. We should probably expect Xenoblade wave 3, Engage wave 2, and Splatoon Season 3
