I promised one more giveaway so here we go.

Predict the exact length of the next Nintendo Direct. $5 US eShop giftcard giveaway.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Let's try to guess the exact length of the next Nintendo Direct presentation. We are talking about US version of Nintendo Direct here since the japanese one will actually have the different length as always. What I mean is the Nintendo Direct upload video that will be there after the presentation. So the whole thing from the intro to the final Nintendo logo.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I am being generous here and listing you some of the recent Directs and their durations:

September 2019 - announced as roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 38:45.
February 2021 - announced as roughly 50 min. - Ended up being 50:46.
E3 2021 - announced as a roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 38:51.
September 2021 - announced as a roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 40:35.
February 2022 - announced as a roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 40:48.
September 2022 - announced as a roughly 40 min. - Ended up being 45:22.

What are the rules?

You have to quote this post (so I can find your guess easily) and type the exact length you think the Direct will have. For example: 42:22. Your first number being minutes and the second one being seconds. Or just type it as a 42 minutes and 22 seconds. Just type it somehow that I can understand it. If you type in something like "42 minutes" and you are not typing seconds that means your response is 42:00.

The person who will guess the exact length or the nearest one will get the giftcard. If more people guess the exact length (it could happen lol) than one of these will be selected by random selection.

You can send your guess until Sunday, February 5th, 12pm UTC. You can edit your guess until this end date.

Good luck.
43:12. This contest has probably doomed us to no direct for a while now…

I wonder if it will be a ‘primarily focusing on Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’ direct. There might not be much else to announce. Advance Wars and maybe a couple of other smaller titles perhaps. Got a feeling they might not show Pikmin until later this year but hopefully wrong on that.
I think it's been a while since Nintendo have taken that approach (maybe since E3 2018?) and I'd be a bit surprised if they returned to it now, but Zelda really is a huge and special game for them, so maybe.

That might explain some of the 'light software slate' talk; Nintendo aren't set to announce much early in the year and have no plans to attend E3, so you could infer from that that their software slate will be quieter later in the year.

First of all: I shit yall not I have the Xenoblade 3 version of You Will Know Our Names going, which is going very well with this flute gif :ROFLMAO:

Second of all: ayyyyyy how you doing dude??

I cracked up at the Xenoblade 3 music line - it fits way better than it should.

And life is okay, friend. Thanks for asking. How are things around here? What games have you played recently? I'm currently experiencing burnout on PK Violet and its later-area frame rates. Good game, but endlessly annoying.

Does anyone want to go on record with an actual prediction or just gonna wait till it's actually announced by Grubb?

I think TotK is not a good candidate for focus in Direct. Maybe there is something like Treehouse gameplay after it but the focus on Zelda in the main presentation is off, for this kind of game.

"Excuse me Mr. Insider, what can you tell us?"

"If only, if only, the woodpecker sighs;
"The bark on the Trees was as soft as the Skies"
As the wolf Waits below, (hungry) and lonely
He cries (emotional) to the Moon, "If only, if only"

"Okay but can you actually say something concrete and not behind random hints that can be interpreted as anything and then backpedal when someone else actually announces it?"

"Nah."

Yeah. We have TotK, Spider-Man, RE4, and FF16 being likely candidates already and none of them are even out. And that’s just off the top of my head. Throw in Armored Core, if it’s better than past games, and there’s only one spot left. I’d be thrilled for Pikmin if it ends up being that 6th wild card that often sneaks in but idk if it’s the kind of game people would vote for despite the quality of the series. But who knows.
I feel it won't even be nominated as TOTK,Spider Man 2,FF16,Starfield,Silk Song and Dead Space plus any other fall releases from MS and sony

I wouldn't rule it out even if my main expectation would still be a fairly regular Nintendo Direct. They've experimented a little over the last few years with how they market and communicate things to fans; some of that was forced on them, but some of it wasn't.

I promised one more giveaway so here we go.

Predict the exact length of the next Nintendo Direct. $5 US eShop giftcard giveaway.

If you don't quote this message you are not participating. I will not search many pages just to find your guess. Shoutout to bellydrum for doing the sweet every quote message button.

The person who will guess the exact length or the nearest one will get the giftcard. If more people guess the exact length (it could happen lol) than one of these will be selected by random selection.

You can send your guess until Sunday, February 5th, 12pm UTC. You can edit your guess until this end date.

Good luck.
Screw it, I'm going to go for 15:44.

Even the year Nintendo only brought BotW to E3, their streamed presentation iirc was fairly short all things considered. They then spent the rest of the time in treehouse showing off various areas of the great plateau.

I just hope that for TotK we will see actual developers playing the game, and make it pre-recorded so there is subtitles/dub over the japanese and no translator. It would be way better than just have if played by NOA Treehouse members.
