Lol at Kalos being the dlc yeah sure buddy. It's not like it's obvious the dlc is going to be the crater expanded since the journals mention a third legendary inside the crater and other paradox Pokemon or anything. Plus the days of Game Freak giving us a second region is long gone. I also knew people would latch onto that area of the map that's blocked off. Guess people don't realize Paldea is a peninsula and that's just the part attached to another region and it's not an island.

Any smoke for this week specifically? Or are we still just expecting "soon"
There Is no particular reason to believe that Direct will air roughly in the second week of february, a sweet spot for advertising and announcement already used in the past by Nintendo.

February 2nd it is

Hey fami, what Is your opinion about the rumored Persona 3 Remake and Persona 6 upcoming announcements? Any chance to play It on Switch? Will they be PS exclusive?
Persona 3 Remake is supposed to be multiplatform and Persona 6 is uncertain, if I remember correctly.
With Persona 3 Portable being a thing on Switch, I'm sure we'll get the Remake too.

Man, so many people are willing this into existence, From needs to take notice. It needs to happen. Or Nintendo, I have this big suspicion that DS1 port was Nintendo's idea.
I'm not sure if I really want or am willing it into existence, I just feel it's the right balance of wouldn't take too much effort to port and would grab headlines due to the strength of the brand. Ideally I'd like them to announce both DS2 and DS3 are coming to Switch at the same time to get the whole trilogy. Not both as a two pack, but something like how the Front Mission remakes were announced.

Never had the chance to play the OG, I'm very eager to see and play It.

Nothing so far. The devs did want it to happen, but at the moment there seems to be an EA-sized blockade on that road.
EA doesn't seem to block anything as long as the devs really want to make it happen. It's still early for a ME Trilogy port, we need to wait a little longer. It's three whole games in one package.
I'm still amazed that Valkyrie Elysium skipped the Switch. I don't see Sony being involved in this game at all and since the game failed I can't see it being ported to the Switch in the future.
Another missed opportunity from Square.
For some reason the devs, Soleil, are not big fans of Nintendo Switch. With exception of Samurai Jack, none of their games made it to Switch. But unlike EA, the last say it's at Square, who knows, they might go for a down port in the future.

Soleil the ones who did that valkryie game for PS and PC?

The fun thing about GameFreak is their unpredictability. Sure, a DLC focused on the Great Crater makes absolute sense, but I'd wager it's just as likely that we'd see Scarlet/Violet 2, much like we randomly got Black/White 2 out of nowhere.

Feels silly to say right after three Persona games released on Switch but I refuse to believe there's a snowball's chance in hell that Persona 3 remake, let alone Persona 6, come to the platform any time soon. I'm going to operate under the impression that any time the phrase "multiplatform" is used it means PS/XB/PC, or a thousand times more likely, just PlayStation and PC.

Dragon Quest, now that's what I'm really curious about. This Direct could be a good time for Infinity Strash to show up again. Probably too soon for the HD-2D remake of DQIII and especially too soon for Dragon Quest XII (if that even comes to Switch).

I would assume that Persona 6, and maybe even Persona 3 Remake, would be Sony exclusives for a while.

working on a Direct post. um, can someone tell me some rumored/plausible third party announcements? I have Batman and Katamari. maybe @9-Volt?
Free Radical Design was resurrected two years ago come May; it might be a smidge too early to see news on TimeSplitters 4 but I imagine if that's their only project right now it might not be too far-fetched to get some news at some point this year.

Right away.

Currently rated, but not announced:
Anno 1800
Didn't I see some announcement that Anno 1800 was coming to Switch officially, or was that just the rating?

Big Nintendo Leak

Oh. Oh wow.

I think you're thinking about The Settlers New Allies. But you're right to confuse them, both from same German studio (Blue Byte) and published by Ubisoft. Both games coming to Switch is not surprising at all, Blue Byte had released both Anno and Settlers on Nintendo DS around same time. They love Nintendo.

Ahh, I know what it was, it was the discussion of this tweet from the Rumours Archive thread

Rated by ESRB for Switch, but not mentioned in the console announcement. But you're right though, if the developers love the Switch so much it's hard to imagine that ESRB would make a mistake of this magnitude.

I'd say there's a very high chance we see Mario + Rabbids DLC at the direct. The season-pass-exclusive wave 1 is supposed to release early 2023, and Ubisoft is going to want to push more sales.

Not totally sold on this, but perhaps there is some truth to this:

I mean, Austin is literally crawling with gaming programmers and Retro isn't the only studio out there. There are literally hundreds of them. Perfect city to found a new side studio.

I don't think CoD will return on Nintendo this generation, they do it on the successor. And Treyarch will be the one who brings CoD back. Also that "promise" of Microsoft won't mean a thing once these lawsuits force MS's hand to go third party with all of their recent acquisitions.

Did the Direct happen? Did I miss it? How many Metroids were there??
They acknowledged the existence of Prime remake only to mention that their market research determined there wasn't an audience for it and therefore decided not to release it, and canceled Prime 4 with a backhanded apology

And then Nintendo announced they are working on 'f*cking Donkey Kong' once more and the internet literally explodes.
As much as I want Prime 4, I'd love to see the threads that would create

The "another damn Donkey Kong" sentiment never made any sense to me because it was Retro's second Donkey Kong game after their first one sold millions of units. Why was anyone surprised they were going to make a sequel?

I imagine 'why Retro making cartoon game for kids instead of making a game for one of their Big-Three franchises, Metroid?!' and such
Metroid is one of my favorite series, so I am happy they are working on it again, but their DK games are very very good. If Retro makes another DK, I will be happy about that ^^
But yeah

Can Nintendo go for the triple and announce a third fire emblem game in a third consecutive Nintendo direct?

Doesn't even have to be a real fire emblem game just give me a base building game with a fire emblem skin and i'll be good.

Fire Emblem Souls. A Souls-like.
Yes I would legit like that, haha. As long as it focuses a lot on monsters, and not only on humans.

I am fine with any date EXCEPT Feb 1st/2nd because

I have a colonoscopy on the 2nd and that + the day before due to prep will NOT be pleasant physically, & I'd rather be fully there for a direct.

nintendo in the wii u era was completely stagned and only making games that people either didn't want (nintendo land) or actually sucked (look at new super mario bros U)

People put all their hopes in that retro would actually come with a new ip that was dark and cinematic and mature. Well there was metroid fans involved yeah but i doubt it would have been such an issue had retro announced anything else lmao.

I mean yeah it can be the crater but I think it could be a new area. Andorra is between Spain and France. It's a small piece of land that could fit as new land for DLC.

Hello everyone, I am Shinya Takahashi and I will be your guide for today's Nintendo Direct.

What you've just saw is the latest instalment in the 2D Mario series, Super Mario Explore. We hope you look forward for this brand new take on 2D Mario. It releases on June 23th so please stay tuned for more updates.

Nintendo quietly revealing that Retro's the one working on the next Donkey Kong. Nice.

By the way, has Team January conceded already, or are they planning on dragging this for another week?
it seems to me like Team January gave up a while ago and Team February are the ones dragging this along

we really ought to open these threads on January 31st
