Oh there’s a new Nate the Hate!!!!!

I have to say: I usually skip podcast ads

I will NEVER skip a @NateDrake + MVG Manscaped ad read. They are GOLD.

I have to mute the mic when MVG reads because I'm laughing the entire time. And the body wash is legit great. I ordered myself a few extra bottles.

@NateDrake Excellent podcast like always. I'm also curious, have you ever thought about live streaming Direct reactions before?

We have thought about it but timing isn't usually on our side and the risk to copyright strikes sways me towards not doing them. I may attempt to do a livestream before the year concludes, though. Ideally, I'd love to do a live show a couple of times a month -- just chatting, answering questions. Kind of like a call-in radio show. Address a big topic of the day or week and then engage with the audience.

Sure. Zell seems to know about this projects years in advance. Maybe its cancelled.

The thing is. We thougt the same about his other leaks. And just when everyone forget about it, those games got announced .

Other insiders and the Switch on Phil Spancers desk make One curious though. It sparks some glimmer of hope where instead it should be better, to just await nothing at all.

Right. The game, or plans for the game, existed but the release was never happening earlier than 2021 and that was pre-COVID days.

Looking forward to listening to the podcast, Nate (and mostly for the ad-reading that's being kept with a straightface). Been listening to my angsty freshly turned 30 playlist and I feel I could stand some level headed discussion at this point in my day haha

Season 5 is apparently supposed to wrap on November 30th. Is it possible to hope for an indie-ish focused Direct in mid-November that could finally offer a release date for this and a few other games that have been announced with no date yet? I recall Bear & Breakfast announced a delay to early-mid 2022, so we could still see a few coming out between now and March 2022

oh yeah this probably got canned huh
It don't mean much, but the FG website still lists the Xbox and Switch as consoles supported, linking to the February press release and eShop page with a release date of 2021 respectively

My guess is Sony has dished out extra cash to extend to exclusivity for few months. They did this before.

They have? Out of curiosity, when?

I guess if the exclusivity deal was until May, with the delay announced in April, an extra six months would put that until November.

Then again, why would they pay for exclusivity if it the player base is dwindling?

Fall Guys was announced for Xbox and Switch at the same time and both were supposed to be out in the summer but then they delayed both versions, stating that wanted to launch those versions with new features they had been working on. But honestly, I think they should have launched in the summer. The more the ports drag one, the less people are gonna care.

I wonder if they think they're already past the point where nobody cares, and are working on a major relaunch

My Animal Crossing island is officially gone, I never activated cloud backup for it.

I guess it's gonna be a fresh start.
In that case you might just want until next week. You won't be ready for the update day one unless you time travel.

Hit me up if you want some bells to get a jump start.
I can also offload a few hundred thousand or whatever the max is that I can fit in my bag whenever you want. Sitting at 20 million bells in the bank, so I’m sure that will cover whatever the cost of the new upgrades are.

So I managed to acquire a Nintendo Switch OLED via Best Buy online just now. Are there any general tips with how to prepare for System Transfers? Is it true I would need to redownload all my downloadable games again?

And no, I do not have Animal Crossing...yet.

Huh, FallGuys reminds me of Genshin Impact Switch still being very much MIA.

Fall Guys I think is still coming to the Switch. I have no faith that Genshin is actually coming out. It's gonna be one of those games where the devs keep saying they are still working on it even as years and years go by and nothing comes out.

I hope Fall Guys still comes for the peeps that wanted it but I lost interest months ago. Genshin Impact I tried on my girlfriend's iPad Pro and it wasn't my jam.

The mobile game we actually need on Switch is ChuChu Rocket Universe.

I shouldn't have watched that Age of Calamity DLC trailer because now I really want to play it. Looks like some of the old character have new weapons/abilities. Good thing I brought the game with me to my folks place. Only a few more hours left of work.

I nearly forgot about that. Genshin Impact is the kind of game that I started trying out on PC, enjoyed well enough, but after a bit the gacha mechanics and the way the game is balanced and how things are gated by time/resources etc. made me quickly fall off. It's a shame, because I feel like if there was a version of Genshin that let you pay $60 up front and removed all of the gacha/time gating/etc. and just let you earn everything in-game through play or by completing challenges and such, then I would really like it.

Still waiting on that ups delivery truck

It sucks for me when I stare at the map because I live right next to some strip malls and I can see the UPS truck dancing around and being literally 300 ft from my house but I don't get my delivery for another three hours.

I've learned to take off the day after a game releases because my deliveries usually don't come until after 2pm and there goes most of the day that I could have been just working.

Anyone here playing Labyrinth of Yomi? I remember it getting a decent amount of buzz from the DRPG crowd, but even though it released yesterday I feel like I've heard nothing about it yet.

(not that I'm going to be playing it anytime soon with SMTV around the corner)

If I like a game enough, I can put up with bullshit design like that. So far that hasn't been the case with a single f2p game, tho. My expectations thus aren't exactly high for games like GI. In the 10h or so I've played it on PC, I've come across enough stuff which was not related to its f2p mechanics and which I didn't like that I don't even see a point in putting even more time into the game, be it 60€/$ or not.
There's just a bunch of stuff, from the feeling of movement/weight to the combat and more, that I found to be terribly mediocre at best. Really not my game for various reasons.
Being f2p definitely underlines my impression of the whole game feeling a bit cheap here and there, tho. I never overcame the feeling of it being a product first and foremost.

Yeah I can definitely see that. It really does feel like the entire world is designed around the game's F2P model, to its detriment. Part of my issue is it felt like to really unlock the combat to its full potential, you need to not only have access to tons of characters, but also their "upgraded forms" that require you to get the same character... again. Many times. What I would prefer is that each character is unlocked in the world of the game itself somehow, and then they had an individual skill/upgrade tree that you can fill out by completing tasks and doing other things.

... which now that I type that out, I'm realizing that really I just want it to be Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Huh.

Nintendo may be listening to potential podcasts/game reviews/critical thinkpieces, but hell I wish they'd be a little more explicit in listening, even if the solutions and avenues they explore take time.

"We're listening, too" in their Twitter bio doesn't mean a hell of a lot to me, and it's hard to take seriously when every interview with a head honcho whether Reggie or Doug involves more spin than an airplane propeller. The only time I've seen them acknowledge listening to fans is to pacify the Animal Crossing community with more upgrades coming in the future in a small update in the Switch News section back in September.

We need to get a couple of Nintendo execs to sign up on Famiboards!

Move away Pokémon BDSP! Here comes the real game, that will "dominate" the 19.11.2021. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

"Relax with a casual platformer where the entire objective is to find lady friends hidden throughout the stage!

Enter a world of simple pleasures and minimalistic design, where your only goal is to navigate cleverly arranged stages, avoid spikes and locate beautiful female companions hidden in the environment. But beware of hazards! Break a heart three times, and you’ll instantly respawn at the beginning, with your lady counter reset to zero. You’ll need to touch them all without dying in order to proceed to the next stage and unlock an alluring image for each one you complete.

Platforms in the foreground are silhouetted against lush hand-drawn backdrops. Clouds pass by overhead, trees sway in the breeze and historical architecture dots the landscape as mellow tunes accompany you on a chill quest for love. Your best times are tracked with each playthrough, inviting you to come back and top your own record.

Features:

• Slide, hop and leap through mazelike platforming stages!
• Locate 20 ladies hidden around the environment.
• Respawn instantly upon death and retry as many times as you like.
• Challenge yourself to get better times on each level!
• Unlock an image of a new lady with each stage you clear.
• Enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and chill soundtrack."

just noticed among us is coming to the other consoles exactly 1 year after it's launch on switch (dec 15 2020 -> dec 14 2021). i guess nintendo had a 1 year console exclusivity deal for the game.

Gacha itself is already a pretty scummy mechanic but weapons gacha just completely ruins it for me. This is definitely something I appreciate about Dragalia Lost, even though it isn't perfect by any means.

A solid get for them honestly

why am I playing Star Fox 64 on my Switch instead of the infinitely superior Star Fox 64 3D?

I love the 3D effect and wish there was a HD portable system that implemented it again.

I have to imagine the folks at NoA or NERD are desperate to say like “yeah we can acknowledge this criticism” but the moment they even so much as open their mouths Kyoto tightens the leash. All the messaging probably has to go through NCL and they’re usually like “just don’t say anything.”

I want to believe that it's just NCL keeping a tightlipped situation, but hell I really wish that aspect of their business culture would change. I'm not even asking to spill every company secret, just frankly being a little more candid with their audience.

Sorry if it has already been mentioned, but do we know the date for the next quarter sales report ?
iirc it was November 4th JST

I’m totally with you. I’m not gonna parrot the “fax machines” talking point here but a lot of how NCL does business does seem antiquated. But hey, they’re doing incredibly well financially, so why change?
