Being in the dark as to when the direct (mini, partner, twitter drop) happens should be fun. I’m sure full chaos will endure.

It's a reference to the Nintendo President constantly saying the Switch is in its middle year. ☺️
Hmm

I guess I can see it now. But how does “engage in” tie in? Obviously FE Engage is this month, but “engage in speculation is still in the middle of its lifecycle” is nonsensical.

Either way, the apostrophe is gone now. I’ll go be a stick in the mud somewhere else.

The waiting for the direct will be harder without Emily/Nate/Grubb. At least with them we had an idea of the date 2/3 week in advance.

In general lots of people here and elsewhere are way too toxic towards the likes of Emily and (moreso) Nate. I'm not surprised if they've given up on leaking when most people are downright hostile to it.
Yeah I understand now, no big deal we let them rest, we have to deal with what we have that is the rumor of nintendo direct in January

I 100% understand Nate quitting teasing/leaking things. He got enough verbal crap thrown at him. Even though most of the stuff he said was right or just hasn't materialized yet to be confirmed.

There are a few things that help guesstimate Direct appearances:

  • General presentations outside of E3 are usually Wednesday or Thursday
  • in the last couple of years, Nintendo has often picked Direct dates that come just after a first party release (this is presumably to help focus marketing)
  • February, June and September are the usual times for general presentations, but this can and does change. E3 being back on this year at least means we'll have the June Direct back, and September has been pretty constant.

If anything the first Direct of the year is probably the hardest to place. It wouldn't surprise me at all if a Direct is finalised and happens any time between this next week and mid February. Maybe the sweetspot is late January; after Fire Emblem, several weeks before Kirby, and with plenty of time to announce and detail games for April through July.

I actually completely changed the title now, since am not native speaker I thought that it at least makes some sense lol. Thanks for the feedback.

Alright I didn’t want it to come to this but I got a fat stack of leaks for everyone right here right now!
Extra, extra, read all about it! Hot off the presses! Nintendo announces nineteen new JRPGs and doesn’t show new Zelda footage! Extra, extra!

I heard Reggie wouldn’t allow Aounma to focus on completing Zelda because he kept trying to show him his village in Animal Crossing New Leaf on his Nintendo 3DS

When prime 4 actually shows up i dont even know how i will react. All the excitement and tension from all the past years that we could have seen it in a direct,e3 or tga. Or just a game that reminded me of a metroid game initially.

Idk i might pass out.

Either february or e3 first teaser.

I think the OLED themed ToTK Switch could be announced as early as next week. These special editions are always announced way in advance (Splatoon 3 OLED 2 months before launch, Scarlet & Violet OLED 2 months too, Animal Crossing Switch also). I doubt they are waiting till Direct to announce it.

My guess would be February 8th/9th, like last year, a good few weeks after Fire Emblem and before Kirby.

Actually the date pattern seems to be broken for past few Directs, the latest one was Tuesday and it seems like the dates are no longer changing because of different year.

But yeah, I agree a lot. They love to give promotion to their latest releases

February 2021 - "Last week, we had a global launch for 3D World + Bowser's Fury game, we hope you enjoyed it."
June 2022 -Partner Showcase, FE: Warriors Three Hopes - "available now". 5 days after it was released.
September 2022 - First post launch Splatfest announced
FE: Engage - January 20th, possible Direct on 24/25th?

Will they think that just a 4 or 5 days is enough for Fire Emblem? That remains to be seen. But I guess anything before Fire Emblem releases is completely out of the table.

I still think it makes more sense to announce it along with some more content for the game, like a new trailer, or on a dedicated Direct. Feels weird to just drop "hey btw we're going to release this themed OLED model for that game we last talked about four months ago"

Nintendo Directs simulate the ignorant hopefulness of your youth and the crushing realism of your adulthood. And it's an experience you can repeat multiple times a year. That's why everyone loves them so much.

Would love to see this but they did the same with Splatoon 3, they could have waited for Splatoon Direct but they just announced it randomly.

sooooo Nintendo Directs are slice-of-life anime

I don’t really see them doing a Direct in late January. I feel like the week of February 6 is the most likely, just because there has been a Direct early-mid February 3 out of the last 4 years. If for some reason the Direct is in January, I feel like it’d be within the next 2 weeks.

Yeah, you're right, Splatoon 3 had a new trailer in April with a release date and then the themed OLED was announced in July. It still feels weird to do this with TOTK, though. I mean, there were some trailers for TOTK, but i have the impression that by the time the Splatoon OLED was announced we knew a lot more about the game than we do about TOTK now

Hell yeah, they are, and this is the opening:

You're out of touch: what we think about Nintendo when the Direct features something we're not interested in.

I'm out of time: still, the Direct does feature more than a few games you actually want, thus your backlog gets bigger.

But I'm out of my head when you're not around: the lack of Directs always drives us crazy.
