I have relocated to my winter habitat (there’s birdseed!)

I'm transferring today to a new, bigger SD card and the only options my PC gives for formatting is NTFS and exFAT. Everything I've read online is that FAT32 is preferable to exFAT when it comes to Switch, but everything I read is also from like 2019 when there was apparently some glitch with Switch's exFAT drivers that caused some Pokemon Sword sava data corruptions somehow.

My 64GB card I've used for years was exFAT and never gave me any issues...I'm gonna assume exFAT is pretty okay after all? I know I could format this new card to FAT32 by downoading software but I'd rather not bother if it's not truly necessary.

Appreciate any input.

Plz make a _____ Story game about a sport I’m good at next. E.g. Couch Story, Fridge Raid Story, Midnight Taco Run Story, etc.

I have officially given up on GoldenEye shadow drop for today/this month

Will I still check the Nintendo Twitter periodically? Sure, but yeah I'm not expecting it before March at this rate.

No Goldeneye yet makes me sad cuz I’m waiting for it to drop to start my replays of Goldeneye > Perfect Dark > Timesplitters series

Was it? I don't mean to ignore the rest of your post but Puss In Boots 2011 was both well-reviewed and a box office success.
Okay, so I just looked and it was better received than I remember. Basically I had read a couple of reviews of the recent one which said the first one was bad, so I assumed that was general opinion.

However I think the rest of the point still stands, and it's not like 65 on Metacritic is a great score. Like I do get why it's funny that this latest Puss In Boots is getting better reception than Avatar, and I am someone who loves animated / "kids" movies

He was part of the original KS pitch 😄
He was the reason Sea of Stars was the only Kickstarter I ever bought into ❤️

I wonder if Nintendo would ever consider doing the "Five Days of Indies" thing with a full Direct. Imagine the February Direct split across five days, each ending with a first party trailer/reveal.

I really wanted to turn the portraits into a little stick figure person, megazord style with one of them being the head and one for each limb but I'm 1 character short for that. Feels weird to put that knight portrait on top of the others too, so I think this is probably the best I can do while getting the point across.

Like 80% of my wishlist items are on sale lol. Loop hero looks tempting at 8, plus CS 3&4 are on sale. This winter sale is intense.

Is it confirmed to be that? I had it removed in 2016 and was home the next day. Hopefully you don't have to be there too long, but it is a small procedure and the recovery isn't too bad. Sending good vibes!

My like is a good vibes like. Hope everything goes smoothly.

Looking at the sales overall Gotta admit at $20 I'm tempted by monster Hunter stories 2. Oh Actraiser renaissance too. And Legend of mana. On the cheap indie side: Flipping death, Yoku's island express, Giga Wrecker Alt and Nefarious have my interest. And oink games but it's not that cheap. Could just finish yoku on gamepass tho

After a year (plus late 2021) of purchases I saved enough to pull the trigger and get Famicom Detective Club (the bundle) for 15$ lol. Mostly because the coins were gonna expire. Kinda disappointed that there is no shared icon, its 2 separate ones (they look nice though).

I dunno George, I wouldn't describe my list of grievances as "few" but thanks

But I should probably just do it on gamepass and spare my wallet instead. Got other stuff on that list I want responses on

Also tempted by Star Wars pinball
Gamepass is a fine way to play. This is just one of the most unique Metroidvania games there is. Wish we had a sequel

Hm ok looking at all the sales, and narrowing and throwing out some things(I really don’t need more pinball). The main games tempting me in the sale are:
Monster Hunter Stories 2
Actraiser Renaissance
Legend of Mana
Giga Wrecker Alt

the extreme demand around Sports Story is funny to me because I can't quite believe anyone has such fond memories of golf story—it's very polished but just an OK game. it mainly became a hit because it was one of the early indie Switch exclusives before loads and loads of stuff started getting ported in 2018 once it was clear the platform was gonna be huge

This is pretty on point. I am sure I'll play it eventually, but it's hard to say that it's the game to buy during this huge winter sale. I don't mind waiting for reviews at least.

If I pay $15 for a game this weekend, it'll probably be... umm .. An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs.

Speaking of the winter sale, I'm gonna let myself be indecisive for a while. For some reason, the game I'm gravitating most towards picking up is Sol Divide -Sword of Darkness-.

I really need to start adding more things to my wish list cause boy combing through these big sales are a nightmare even with deku deals. That and I guess to be less stingy lol

Just made a transmogrify monster spell that worked flawlessly on the first try. I use a poof of smoke and a "pop" sound effect for it, so damn satisfying.

What's really fun is there's a chance it can turn a low level monster into a high level monster so at low levels you can cheese it and try to spawn a high level monster who will give you much more gold, xp and a much better item assuming you can kill it.

Cheese away!

Pinned Threads
Hey all.

Open question here.

We would like to ask the community what you all think about the amount of pinned/stickied threads. Currently, we have 4 - first party, hardware, GenDisc and the Metroid event. Is it sufficient, or too many? Would 3 stickies make the site feel more manageable? Is it fine as it is? Would 5 stickies be over the line?

I think 4 is best, 5 is probably OK too, but I wouldn't go past 5.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we unpin the most popular thread on the board (hardware and tech spec), it would effectively be on the first page at all times anyway, meaning there's room for one less thread on the front page. Not a huge deal, but likely worth some consideration. I'm in favor of keeping it pinned.

I'm personally of the belief that pinned threads only hit the point of "too many" if there's, like, eight of them up there. 4-6 is a fine upper limit, I think. I voiced this in the staff server, but taking into account the future of the site, I could see us holding repeating annual events for Nintendo franchises like Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, and so on. The more events we have in the Fami "bank", the more they're likely to overlap over time, meaning more pins active at once is kind of inevitable (unless we just have a single dedicated event thread, which is an option).

Might be worth throwing a threadmark on this

I think 4 should be the max, 2 or 3 is better. The software thread probably shouldn't be pinned - I get where the idea came from and pinning it gave it a nice bump for a bit but it's just not active enough to warrant always sitting at the top of the page

I think the amount of pinned threads is just right, considering the Metroid thread will be unpinned when the event ends, and thus we'll be down to the usual 3.

The Metroid thread will remain pinned when the Prime remake and first footage of Prime 4 are shown in the first Direct of 2023.

let me dream
