Are you suggesting the discussion should be revisited? Why?The real problem with Pratt being cast as Mario isn’t the voice (though, clearly people still aren’t liking that, myself included—just look at the replies in this thread), but rather the fact that Pratt is a shitty person who shouldn’t have been given the role in the first place. Unfortunately, that detail is being overlooked by most, with most of the discourse only being about the voice instead of the issues with the actor himself.
What's this thing about his church?I understand that, although other than his church I don't know what else he has done? And like you said, most of the complaints are centered around his performance.
My expectation is the Mario Kart scene is the end of the film and not a major scene in the film.
I for one can say I think he sounds bad even while ignoring that his name Chris Pratt. If the credits showed me the name "Chad Bratt" it would still be a pitiable performance.I suspect Pratt is getting dumped on for other reasons than his acting abilities
The French version is just going to sound that much perfect-er by the end.Does that mean the French movie is like, 50% shorter
Apparently his church is homophobic. Which to be fair so are a lot of churches. Mine was growing up.Are you suggesting the discussion should be revisited? Why?
What's this thing about his church?
I asked Kondo-san at the time, "Then what kind of music would work with Mario?” He replied that "Mario is cool".
What is it about his church in particular that set it apart from every other church in peoples' eyesApparently his church is homophobic. Which to be fair so are a lot of churches. Mine was growing up.
maybe we shouldn’t settle for “fine” in a title character and icon when multiple others on the cart sound greatNothing. Except people are going on about how he’s a terrible voice for Mario. He sounds fine
That I'm not sure of. I don't really keep up with a lot of online discourse for my own mental health. For example, the only reason I found out about the JK Rowling stuff was due to the discussion around Hogwarts Legacy and the comparisons she gets to Rick Riordan (my favorite author). What is it about his church in particular that set it apart from every other church in peoples' eyes

...I get why they want an origin story it just isn't fun to see Mario like this...
Fair enough, I thought I saw Bowser in the MK sequence but I didn't do a frame by frame analysis.I mean, given how these films go, it's reasonably easy to guess that it's the final raid on bowsers castle and how they get there.
The biggest giveaway is that Luigi doesn't seem to be there, which he would be if it was for a post credits celebration thing, though it could be he was just edited out.
That I'm not sure of. I don't really keep up with a lot of online discourse
Is there a handy link to the Japanese trailer? They also showed the japanese version of the trailer on the japanese stream.
Miyamoto is also bowing in japanese Direct and not anywhere else. Japanese Direct lore.
I am just glad that it's not musical as rumored previously. That would piss me off so hard.
It’s been brought up multiple times before on this forum:I understand that, although other than his church I don't know what else he has done? And like you said, most of the complaints are centered around his performance.
Unfortunately it’s been largely ignored because people would rather complain about his voice instead of more important matters.I dunno, he seems like a real nice fella. Here’s some exclusive proof only for Famiboards eyes:

I’m saying that it should absolutely be talked about more, yes—because, as clearly demonstrated in this very thread, not enough people know about Pratt being a shitty person, to the point that the discussion surrounding him being cast as Mario is 99% about how his voice sounds instead of the bigger issue with the casting. And, as a result, he doesn’t get any significant pushback on the stuff that matters, because people just aren’t aware and/or would rather endlessly complain about his voice (which I don’t like either, but that’s beside the point) than talk about the much more concerning issues like his support of a white supremacist group, etc. And unless people start talking about it more, it’s going to continue to be largely ignored and swept under the rug like it has been. I’m sure Pratt is probably relieved that most people are merely bitching about his performance as Mario rather than the kind of person he is, because the former is surely much easier to deal with than the latter. Are you suggesting the discussion should be revisited? Why?
think his ties to nazis should be more concerningWhat is it about his church in particular that set it apart from every other church in peoples' eyes
uh mark as leak plsDONKEY KONG: huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh
I'm sorry but no one is going to take down Pratt from being a millionarie by being aware that he is a jerk. We have decades of criticism-proof Hollywood folks to show that no matter how much you want to wish upon a star and hope that people finding out gossip about them is going to ruin their career it just... doesn't happen. It is melodramatic to act like Pratt's karma will only ever caught up to him and turn him into a homeless man licking the streets for lime if we stop saying his performance sucks and instead turn it into a thread about him. Why I would argue that this board, due to being filled with geeks that spend time on the Internet, likely already has more people that are aware of his demeanor than most other groups of folks across the world. It’s been brought up multiple times before on this forum:

Get ready for some sweet 3D sakugas!Yabuki spend the whole 5 years directing that Mario Kart scene.
I never said it wasn't? It absolutely is understandable. It should be understandable that the fact Chris Pratt supports a church that is against gay marriage is enough for people to not want to support Chris Pratt
we had.. 1 line in the first trailer, and a new one thats not even an hour old. Your parents are that up to date that you causally ask them and they are like "yeah, totally watched it, sounds great"?So I asked my parents about what they think of the movie and Chris Pratt's performance based on what we've heard so far and they really enjoyed it so I think the general audience likely doesn't care that Pratt isn't the perfect Mario in our own unique opinions - because he isn't. Either way, this movie is gonna be a lot of fun!
Oh, no, I think more and more, people have been able to walk and chew bubblegum in a case like this.Unfortunately it’s been largely ignored because people would rather complain about his voice instead of more important matters.
Cranky was the Kong monarch sitting on his throne.DK ... is the old one? that's a retcon ... in many ways. It was clear that cranky is the original, now that's weird.
I mean, I watched the trailer (and last month's) with my parents and are interested in this stuff and they liked both trailers. My irl friends also liked what they saw of the trailer last month and they aren't even that interested in Mario so Chris Pratt doesn't seem to be doing harm outside of inner video game and movie fan circles from what I can tell.we had.. 1 line in the first trailer, and a new one thats not even an hour old. I mean, sure, but its the wording that kinda gets me, on the one hand "general audience" on the one hand either a strong opinion on 1 line or seeing the trailer straight after the direct ... not sure if that's the general audience.
