I'm hoping they make it so DK learns to be nice or something. Cranky as some sort of king/ruler is... interesting.

Other than that, trailer looks great. Loved seeing all the power-ups.

DK looks like the 1982 arcade game
Peach using the fire flower
Pratt's voice sounds better. Still would prefer different casting but I was able to stomach it more.
Bowser still sounds great
Luigi sounds great.

Mario Kart on Rainbow Road stuff looks great.

Might be the perfect trailer for this movie. Loved it.

That sure sounds like Chris Pratt, huh. I won't lie, that alone kinda takes the wind out of my enjoyment of the trailer, I won't lie, it's really awful.

I think I'll actually go through the trailer at another point. Love the Mario details, we have some gorgeous environments, I love seeing the power ups in action (yay for Tanooki Mario and Fire Peach!), and I'm enjoying a more "Super Mario Adventures"-esque take on Princess Peach but most of the humor and the pacing of the jokes is pretty...well, "generic kid's movie." Still excited but I better set my expectations.
 
The more that's revealed, the better the movie looks and sounds. And makes Chris Pratt's work here even worse by comparison.
 
So many interesting scenes and locales already! And those popping colours really do the franchise justice, I hope they'll translate to the next game as well! Odyssey looked awesome in that regard.

Hopefully people can stop complaining about Mario's voice now that he sounds perfectly fine. The real issue is Princess Peach. Love her design but oof that voice, just not right for her at all imo. Hopefully it can grow on me.
 
Well now we have heard more from Pratt and we can safely say he does suck. Peach sounds absurdly generic too. On the bright side, Bowser sounded LESS like Jack Black's normal speaking voice this time.
 
Yeah so that got more of a reaction from my insides than I thought it would.

I hope it's good.

Yeah I think his voice sounds a bit better in this one. He had all of two lines in the last one.

Not liking his character direction though, which has nothing to do with Pratt. Mario shouldn't be screaming about everything like Luigi does, they need to be different people.
 
Movie looks good!

Charlie Day as Luigi is genuinely perfect casting.

I like DK’s new look! I’d be OK with that being his look going forward in any potential Donkey Kong games.
 
That has to be the most low energy wahoo anyone has ever done for a mario voice in all of human history. What a miscast compared to everyone else who is giving 110%, at least in comparison.

I think the 'wahoo' at the end of the trailer is Martinet's voice.

Nah, definitely not. It doesn't sound anything like Charles Martinet.
 
Ok but if Peach manages to spend the whole movie without getting kidnapped I'll be impressed.

After hearing more Pratt, it's still baffling that they went with him. Martinet could have done this incredibly. Especially since Pratt can't even capture lines like 'WAHOO' properly.

I loving everything about the movie except Mario's casting, and it's a serious drag on everything else.
 
Pratt continues to be the worst thing about this but everything else looks pretty good! I like how they're doing Peach, plus lots more DK stuff then I was expecting too which is nice (Funky Kong!)

Pratt just feels like a vacuum of charisma in this movie so far, everyone around him is more memorable and distinctive. Movie looks great though.
 
It's looking really really good. Everything about this movie seems like it's a perfect amalgamation of everything Mario. And that's so cool.

It brings in everything from the 2D games, 3D games, major spinoffs like Mariokart. It seems just fantastic.

Mario's "wahoo" hmm... Is Marios still unsure of himself by that point in the movie? That delivery and expression didn't do it for me. But maybe thats part of the character arc? Toad is like "come on relax, repeat after me! Woohoo!" and then later on Mario fully commits himself with his actions and voice. This is the origin of how Mario stopped talking and just shouted overly happy 1 liners the rest of his life.

The delivery is flat, unexciting. At the risk of falling in silly hyperboles, the average fan-made Mario voice from these old Newgrounds flash animaitons were better than this.

I'm not gonna let this single aspect ruin the movie since I'll watch it in french anyway, so I'll stop here. I don't want my bitterness to rotten this thread.
 
The movie looks gorgeous, it feels like a ton of fun and almost everyone sounds right.

Chris Pratt is SO miscast it's not even funny. It was especially jarring because the version of the Direct I watched had the Spanish version of the trailer right after the English one and seeing Mario voiced by a proper voice actor when compared to Pratt's efforts felt like night and day.
