I saw someone post that Age of Hyrule was announced on Twitter on 9/8 and released in November...hope for something else this fall via Twitter announce? Maybe? Please???
That was because there was no September Direct in 2020 because of covid. Doing Age of Calamity as a twitter drop then was best thing they could do.

Definitely still a great shot for another game this year though like Metroid Prime Remastered or something small like Advance Wars sneaking in. November is just Pokemon right now unless they count Harvestella and December is empty outside of Dragon Quest Treasures.

Random dumb but totally Nintendo thought: No Metroid Prime Anniversary Edition for November, but it totally comes out in February to coincide with the Japanese launch (and to give Retro another 4-5 months to produce something showable for Prime 4).

My favorite moment was listening to John die a little bit when I told him Forever Entertainment was the developer of the Front Mission Remake.
That was just mean 😂

Oh well, at least the DS version still exists if it's not good.

I just read the news about the Overwatch 2 battlepass. Playing game is a fucking job now. No way I would be able to grind that out in just 9 weeks.
When I saw "80 Tiers" my eyes rolled into the back of my head so hard they almost ended up in my mouth. And you need to hit Tier 55 to get the character unlock if you're not paying money.

Fuck off with that noise. I'll take gacha over this battle pass nonsense if I absolutely have to, and even then I've had my fill of gacha games.

EDIT:

Oh look, another day another Square-Enix published game coming to Switch

We’re not getting GB Switch online are we?
I have a thought process that if GoldenEye isn't coming this year, of the three N64 games currently confirmed for the remaining four months of 2022, one month might be missed to reveal the Gameboy NSO emulators

yeah, that's where Everybody's 1-2 Switch comes.

Aren‘t there 4 games left for 2022? I thought Pilotwings 64, Mario Party 1 and 2 and Goldeneye were all 2022?

I know the cadence for NSO “updates” (not game updates, like, value-adds to the service) tend to be in September(-ish) and March, so my guess at this point is that GB’s coming in March. So far the classic games stuff has always been in the September(-ish) update but the plan might have changed as it so often does. Maybe GB would come in time for Pokemon Stadium, so they can work in that Transfer Pak compatibility? Who’s to say.

They had the Mario Anniversary Direct in Sept. 2020 and released 3D All-Stars a month later. All I'm saying is that there is precedent for weird stuff to happen!

yeah but I assume that if Zelda ports would be releasing this year they would be announced in the Direct for sure.

My current expectation right now actually is that they won't release an N64 game this month; they're using the announcement of the new roadmap as an excuse to take a breather for September and then they'll resume adding 'em come October. GoldenEye will come out in 2023, just as it's doing in Japan.

Hope I'm wrong!

I honestly wonder if Microsofts strategy (paying for ports) will hurt them in the long run even if it helps them on the short run. Like if I was the publisher in this case I wouldn't develop anything for Xbox and would instead wait for Microsoft to send me money for an Xbox port plus being on game pass. Then the next game won't be on Xbox either because I'll be holding out for more money to do a port. I just wonder if this will encourage publishers to wait and hold off for Microsoft to pay them to put games on Xbox.
That's exactly the precedent this is setting, I think. The deal is almost too good for third party publishers not to do it like that. There's no risk involved in waiting for a potential offer by MS. And if there's none, well, nothing's lost, because the main target audiences are elsewhere anyways.

Yes, a live E³ treehouse directly after a Direct iirc.

I think the game won't drop in 2022 anymore.

I know grasping at straws...just feels like there is still a gap to be filled in the Fall release calendar. Bayonetta, Pokemon, Mario/Rabids - usually they have some kind of pure first-party offering.

Alright, draft 1 is done! Lemee know what ya'll think before I publish it!

Watching it a few more times I think the opening is much too slow before the title, gonna see if I can change that a bit then reupload.

Goldeneye is unknown , but likely this year in the west. Also the pokemon stadium games had a doesn’t support transfer pak warning label in the stream. Not to say there isn’t other ways to do it

I think/hope you're right on this. It seems odd they're doing Pokemon Stadium, have worked on the Transfer Pak in the N64 emulator for Switch, and have the GB family emulators too. It's always possible they couldn't get interoperability working, or decided it's not important; hopefully they're just waiting a little longer before GB comes along.

They might also be happy with the current rate of subscriptions. An online-centric game launching in September has likely helped to cause a spike in subs, too.

I think that was just them covering their tracks to make sure no one thinks this NSO release would work with like, actual Game Boy cartridges. The Japanese Direct’s disclaimer specifically said like “does not allow transfer to Game Boy.”

I have to imagine this is something they’re gonna work on, it’d be a shame if they didn’t allow for that kinda connectivity.

Yeah I think Splatoon’s huge launch MAYBE got them to put GB/GBA on pause. That probably pushed enough new NSO subs that they thought ”ok, we can pump brakes on GB for now until we need another push.”

Everytime I find this infograph, it's only the screengrab from the Direct, but everytime I see the one that includes Goldeneye in the list, it's just a bunch of them in a group of 9 without specifying the year they're due to come out.

I guess they wanted to keep it a surprise for like five more seconds in the first image, but it still feels weird it's not specified (unless it is about to drop next week).

My thinking with the Gameboy update end of October/early November is around the time when the EP was first announced and those subs are up for renewal first, but given the Mario Kart Booster Pack reveal with NSO I can see why they'd also want to get Gameboy in the loop for March, especially if Pokemon Stadiums aren't due for a while yet.

To conclude and echo your post, 🤷‍♂️

Not sure if anyone's watching the Capcom stream but they detailed Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak stuff.

And Street Fighter 6 continues to look like the best Street Fighter of all time.

If it’s next week, good chances it gets dated tonight(or if it’s one of the other 3 and GE is later)

Annoyed with myself because, in my fatigue funk earlier this week, I missed out on the opportunity to preorder the FE Engage special edition.

Maybe for the best given I'll be getting Octopath 2 in February, but still...

Wasn't there a NSO datamine with placeholders for the remaining N64 games? Would love to know how these 7 fit into it.

It's still up on Amazon.de, but listed with a 120€ price. I think (hope) this goes down to normal price with the time.

I feel like we‘re overdue for this month‘s N64 game, as well as new Genesis/Mega Drive games. I have to assume we’re gonna hear about SOMETHING soon about either

Ya like games? Ya like Directs? Of course you do, you're on Famiboards. Well, do I have a direct for you, and it's starting at 12 PM ET today - that's in less than an hour!

It's the Game Devs of Color Expo 2022 Direct! Featuring games from BIPOC game developers, many of which you'll be able to demo on Steam later on via Gradient Convergence! And all a part of an event highlighting BIPOC creators in the games industry big and small, which you can check out here!

It’s also worth remembering that Pokémon GB games coming isn’t necessarily reliant on the existence of GB NSO. Like, they could just sell the games on the eShop like they did on the 3DS. They could do that even if they have GB NSO.

I’m not assuming Pokémon games are going to be a part of GB NSO. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they are, but I think they might sell them separately.

Oh I don’t think there is ANY way the Pokémon games don’t come to NSO. I highly doubt they’re going to package up a separate GB emulator for a la carte purchases anymore, when they can rope people who wanna relive their childhood into a yearly subscription.

Yeah, I think so too. Nintendo is gonna push hard for this.

I agree, but I'm also cynical after years of TPC not giving the people what they want coughBattleFrontiercough, so I genuinely wouldn't be surprised!

Maybe Metroid Prime will be a limited release like 3D All Stars.

They won't have Retro work on this for who knows how long to have it only as a limited release.

They're already paying for Retro's BBQ shenanigans, but not that.

Wasn’t Battle Frontier the Wii game that was ostensibly Stadium but for Diamond and Pearl? I didn’t know it was that in-demand.

In any case, I think this’d be a case of Nintendo coming with bags of money and demands haha

I don’t think it can be overstated how much more valuable a subscription is to a company than a one-time purchase. If they’re going to put classic Pokemon games onto the Nintendo Switch, it’s gonna be on NSO.

I made this point as to why Nintendo has stopped doing virtual console. Instead of someone spending $15 to the games they really want and never looking at the store ever again, they want people paying $20 or $50 annually to get the stuff they want plus stuff they don't really care about.

I just wish the subscription service and pay-per-game model could coexist.

I know why they don't. But it'd be nice. I like that I have access to a library with a fee but I do want to actually own Super Metroid on Switch and have it still be on the SD card years later. Sigh.
