Cross-posting from the pick-up thread because I'm so fuckin happyyyyyy

Yall I am beside myself. My bestie from Saskatchewan just sent me Kirby, along with the Walmart Canada exclusive tote!!

That’s awesome! Forgotten Land is incredible and that tote bag looks rad :)

Both great choices, since Cross is a replay I’d roll with Kirby first.

Though selfish me would love to see you gush about Cross here and in the RPG thread lol.
Oooooh I will. Whenever I get around to it, I will.

Still my favorite OST in all of gaming history.

I think Apple's last revolutionary product was the iPhone. There are a few potential contenders since then but they have all had missteps in one way or another:
I don't know if you'd count that as a new product, but the M1 Macs are pretty revolutionary, with an excellent price/performance ratio, and I fully expect ARM chips to become the norm in the PC world in the future, especially now that we've became very aware that it's important to save energy.
Guys I'm about to launch my first ever crowdfund campaign for a psychological suspense thriller short film and I'm nervous
Good luck ! I hope you'll be able to reach your goal

omg
I had my suspicions on this considering every NISA blog post only mentioned how much attention they were giving to the Switch and PC versions with no mention of back porting additions. Feel bad for PS4 owners, especially those who ordered the collector's editions for both Zero and Azure months ago.

But yeah...Trails From Zero, perfect for Switch. Better graphics, new QOL features, new gameplay features, and more.

I was gonna get the Switch version anyway but the entire thing feels super scummy, regardless of whose fault it was.

100%. There should have been clear communication that the PS4 version was just the original Kai version and the Switch / PC version was enhanced when the LE preorders went up back in January I want to say. We only got that info in June roughly maybe to suggest otherwise and it wasn't clearly communicated. They charged everyone last week so now people are locked in. It's super scummy.

This sounds awesome! Wishing you the best of luck.

Thank you! We're going live tomorrow. This is something I'm really passionate about. It could really allow me to succeed in my dream career as a movie director. My team and I have plans to tour it at Sundance film festival if possible. The short movie will have both personal and timely darker themes in it.

I truly believe in it more than any other project I've done so far, I'm even putting in 1-2 years worth of savings down (it's not much, I've worked lower paid jobs for a while) to try and make it happen with this campaign. Spent a lot of time working to perfect the campaign page + pitch video. Hoping for the best!

I got a new job proposal with a 58% salary increase. Today was a good day.

I resigned from my current yesterday and today I got a call from HR and my manager. They basically tried to guilt trap me into rethinking it. I politely declined but I kinda feel like a jerk right now even if I didn't do anything wrong.

Oh well.

So I’m playing Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart this morning, and my wife comes downstairs and says “what the heck, why are you watching some weird kids show?”. I guess Rift Apart does look like a modern cartoon. thought that was pretty cool.

Anyway the game is a ton of fun. It feels like the kind of game Sony doesn’t make anymore - lighthearted and fun. It seems like they took a PS2 game, gave it obscenely good graphics, and dropped it onto PS5.

You are in for an absolute treat of a game. And then you can play Chrono Cross and Radical Dreamers as a chaser 🤙

I'd say iPad definitely counts since tablet computing really hadn't had a serious win until that came along. Windows tablet stuff worked but was a hack on top of an OS and UI that was designed with a mouse + keyboard in mind.
Argh, that was a typo sorry! I meant iPod. I don't think iPad really counts - at the time of its release, it was really just "iPhone but big" and didn't justify its own existence until a few generations later IMO

This is definitely getting into splitting hairs territory, but I wouldn't count it for two reasons. One, it's not really a 'new' product (even the chip is really just the evolution of their existing mobile chips), and two, I don't imagine the average consumer would really notice a substantial difference between the M1 Macs and previous-gen Intel Macs. To them it was probably "Mac but snappier and with better battery life". Excellent product, though, and for sure their most impactful to the computing landscape in years.

Anyway I probably need to stop making this case, it's quite pointless lmao

As far as Apple’s “innovative” products in this century go, I’d say these are the ones:
  • iPod
  • iPhone
  • MacBook Air
  • iPad
These four are obviously incontestable, and they literally played a foundational role in creating modern society as we know it today. But I’d also add:

  • AirPods
  • Apple Watch
  • Apple Pay
The AirPods and Apple Watch mentions are less about them being pioneers and more about them being the products that proceeded to define and then subsequently dominate, entire segments of markets. Apple Pay of course was the first truly successful mobile payments solution (in the west, in Asian countries such as India, mobile payment has existed before Apple Pay and also done well).

Congrats on sticking to a boundary and standing up for yourself! It's hard but you did the right thing, and you'll feel less like a jerk the more you do it.

I concur, I haven't used an M1, but I imagine that for the average user they'd be fine with ARM chips. MS has a version of Windows for ARM so once they think the market is ready it'll happen pretty quickly assuming they can get the big hardware names on board to provide wider driver support. I think once the x86-on-ARM emulation layer gets a few more iternations and the processors get a little faster that day will come fairly quickly.

I've really been enjoying Ooblets lately. It's very similar to Stardew Valley, but with a little creature collecting component and a very silly vibe.

I am also finally, (finally), am playing TemTem after backing it four years ago. It's quite good so far, I really like how they clearly took more inspiration from the competitive side of Pokemon for battling.

Hey everyone, some may or may not remember me from ResetEra, but it’s been a while since I’ve posted.

I decided to create a new account and join the rest of the veterans who moved here. Looking forward to having fun discussing and speculating with the rest of you!

Welcome! I think you'll find that not much has changed since we left Era. We just have an entire board to ourselves now!

Welcome! Glad you decided to come on over.

Thanks! Glad to know not much has changed.

So just so I’m caught up on certain rumors, if I’m correct:
-Prime Remastered is still on track to come out before the end of the year
-Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD are coming but release date is in the air?

Feeling the COVID much more today than any day yet. Very coldy, sore throat, very achy overall, general fatigue.

At least I can breathe though, thank goodness for vaccines.

I hope it's not too bad going forward. Sending good vibes!

Take it easy today and rest. When it hits it hits you like a sack of bricks.

The problem is I have two very young kids who can't take care of themselves so I literally can't rest. At least much. And obviously we can't drop them off with anyone since they have it too.

So does anyone else wake up at 3am and spend the next couple hours calculating gear ratios for hypothetical project cars?

Just me?

Kay.

Thought you were talking about steroids at first but then you mentioned cars
I'm proud that I don't know enough about steroids to understand how they relate to gear ratios. LOL

BTW, "Thought you were talking about __________ at first but then you mentioned cars" is something I get a lot 🤣
