FRESH, I just turned into a KID. anyone who badmouths this presentation will have to confront me. I'm 100% sold on the game for customization alone. The mood is so incredible for this game! I'm happy as can be with what I saw! I want to have all you Splatooners here on my friends list later.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the new idols, much preferred Pearl and Marina from 2.

Battle replays are an amazing addition though, so happy that's a thing now.

I am unreasonably hyped for splat sword

As someone that hasnt played Splatoon much. It looks cool. I may bite the hook and take the bait to have some fresh gameplay going on.

I wish we knew a bit more about the single player. The glass half full thought is they want to keep it close to the chest, the glass half empty thought is it's an afterthought at launch with their bigger plans held back for the paid dlc.

I understand the criticism that there isn't enough that's different. I'm all the way in because just new maps, new QoL features, and the new single player is enough for me. But I wouldn't begrudge anyone for waiting.

My personal pros: Some good returning stages, lots of customization including lockers, the hub looks sweet, Shiver and Big Man are cool, the Splatfest looks really sick, possible news skipping, new sword weapon is cool, a trios Turf War like I wanted

My cons: No apartment/house, Frye's design is hideous, single player seems a bit basic, trios Turf War contained to Splatfests (is it just gone after 2 years? :/)

I want to know more about dropping into battle. You can do it when a friend is playing a public lobby, but I wonder if they'll also allow it for random joins, as that would address the issue of disconnects being so crippling. I don't think they would just make the normal battle search do it, since you don't always want to get dropped into the losing side with 1 minute left, but maybe an option you can enable?

They showed more and it obviously took inspiration from Octo Expansion, which is exactly what people were asking for.

Game looks good, well polished as per usual and a tonne of customization options. That said, we're on our third Splatoon game and, imo, we've not seen enough of a dramatic evolution to the gameplay modes.

I would have really expected something beyond a 8-player mode at this point, whether some form of BTB mode or a Battle Royale, but the closest we've got to any kind of radical change is the tri-colour mode, which I don't think is going to work very well, because I suspect the two teams of two will get annihilated most of the time.

Not much shown of the campaign either, so I'm not expecting too much there either.

I might get this, but it really does look like more of the same.

the single-player mode will be just a tutorial thing, it seems.

Man, I can't remeber the last time I got so disappointed in a Direct.
I mean do you feel like it was just a tutorial in the other ones?

I liked it at least…

I didn't really care for the structure of Octo Expansion until the final stretch, so that's not a win for me.

The level design and type of challenges are what took inspiration from Octo Expansion. We don't know what the "structure" is like but it will probably be similar to the last two.
