Nintendo hasn't stopped making big internal games, no offense but that's just ridiculous. Mario Kart 9 is probably in development but we're not seeing a new Mario Kart until at least 2024, given they're busy with the DLC until the end of 2023. Metroid Prime 4 will show up when it's ready, presumably alongside Metroid Prime DE/HD. 3D Mario is probably at some point in development, you are however assuming these games have been in development for 4 plus years without any issue, and funnily enough including MP4 with those games, which was rebooted 3 and a half years ago.
"Mario Kart cant show up because they're busy with the DLC"
First of all, the DLC is a lazy port from the mobile game, so no they aren't "busy with it." Second, they did not have to port content from the mobile games, they could have simply made a new game which would have no doubt earned them a lot more money. You present it as if the DLC had to happen and thus it delayed the release of the next game, when in reality it's likely the other way around. They aren't ready to release the next game and this lazy DLC is a way to bridge the gap.

"Metroid prime 4 will show up when it's ready"
How is it not ready to be shown? It's been in development for nearly 4 years. I'm not saying it has to release now, but you're telling me they aren't ready to make a teaser yet? Is this game coming in 2026?

"3D Mario is probably at some point in development"
What does this even mean? Of course it's at some point in development. Odyssey came out more than 4 years ago. Considering Odyssey itself took 4 years to COMPLETE you would think they could do a teaser by now. But I guess not. Seems like all their major games just have a 7 year development time now according to you.

i recall seeing some aggressive comments toward people who showed concern of a general Direct happening after Xenoblade Direct was announced lol

Personally I think its time to stop listening to these "insiders" , but if people want to keep getting disappointed repeatedly by misleading informations that are "technically" not misleading informations then all power to them
"Direct is coming last week of June..." which part was misleading? It's a Direct and happening then.

I don't think Fire Emblem will be at a Partner Showcase. Yes, games in Nintendo IPs have shown up before but they were spinoffs or a third parties interpretation of a series. Hyrule Warriors was Warriors title. Cadence of Hyrule is in the style of Crypt of the Necrodancer. Mario + Rabbids is Ubisoft's interpretation of a Mario game. It's not part of the mainline series.

A new Fire Emblem game, even if developed by KT, would be in the style of the main series. It would be marketed not as a spinoff but the next mainline game. So it doesn't fit the bill of what we've seen in past Partners. I don't even think they highlighted that KT was the developer for Three Houses in any of the trailers. It just marketed under the Nintendo banner.

lol a partner direct with RDR2 and Persona 5 native ports for these fall would be insanely good guys. We are talking of the two best third party western and easter titles. (By metacritic).

Whatever the direct is, Mario + Rabbids 2 will be present. This is a title I know a lot of you wants.

And if they can strech and put there Bayonetta 3, for me would be a 10/10 direct

Nintendo always aims their directs (general, partner, mini, etc) to users who only have a Switch and don’t have access to play other console games

Would they really reveal the big new mainline FE at a Mini Partner Direct, though? That definitely seems like something they'd save for a general, especially since the big opening reveal of the last general was a FE spinoff.

They revealed Monster Hunter Rise, a 10+ million copies games on Switch alone, on a Partner Showcase.

Fire Emblem is not even 1/3 as big as MH.

Likely not; just saying that Nintendo makes the rules and what's included will be defined by how they opt to use the term "Partner".

The new hardware stuff sounds like massive copium but it would certainly explain why they aren't showing anything first party right now. If it's revealed over the summer it would definitely work timing wise.

Agreed. I don't think we see Fire Emblem yet, either. I was of the opinion it's a first half 2023 game anyway, but I'd hoped for a reveal if we got a general Direct. Should still get revealed this year, hopefully.

The new Fire Emblem game maybe being in the Partners Direct because KT is doing the grunt work of that game doesn't make sense.

If we entertain the thought then every Nintendo franchise that is being worked on by a development studio that isn't Nintendo-owned is a contender for a potential Partners Direct. But no one expects a new Kirby, Paper Mario, Yoshi or even Oracle remake in a Partners Direct which fall under the same dynamic.

This happens with Nintendo all the time because nobody gets all the information. They know about one thing or a handful of things being shown and then use that to predict what kind is event we’re getting. First party stuff tends to start pretty locked down.
Exactly, we know how these Direct get leaked anyway usually from major publishers and distributors, In 2017 a marketing document from EA leaked the existence of a Jan 2018 direct back in November 2017 and a game retailer put several third party switch titles up near an imminent direct in August 2019. https://www.eurogamer.net/yes-overwatch-for-switch-is-real

Literally nothing indicates Bayo 3 delay, no rumors at all. It'll definitely be there. Even without FE, they have 6 games lined up for this year. That's better than 2018 and 2020 H2 lineups.
that's better than 2021 H2 lineups too imo

I sure as hell don’t want to hear people tell others to appreciate and be happy with a Partners Direct. This wasn’t anyones expectations. Let people be disappointed, sad or not happy. That’s perfectly fine to feel like that.
I couldn't agree more with you. Sorry, but nope, this is not good news for most of us.

I don't know how the new hardware fits in with the long season pass announcements for Mario Kart and Xenoblade 3. "It can be backwards compatible", yes, but you don't sell a console.

The little that has been seen of the new Fire Emblem does not especially shout "Next gen".

...Okay? Monster Hunter isn't a first party IP. This was also in 2020 tbf, I bet they would've revealed MHR in a "proper" Direct if they could've.

Also, this is incredibly pedantic, but even 3H's old sales data of 3.4m from 2020 is more than 1/3 of 10m 😎

they're not putting mainline fire emblem in a mini partner showcase, please get a hold of yourselves

edit: I say the latter part jokingly

but there will not be fire emblem

Yeah I have to agree.

In retrospect, the writing was on the wall for a non-general Direct month when Nintendo missed the second week of June and followed it up with X3 Direct the next week.

I know some are disappointed. Yes, new hardware would be amazing. And it could still happen. But trying to shape a pattern out of Nintendo's unpredictable announcement patterns to try to confirm an upcoming reveal of a Switch Pro is just the ultimate letdown setup.

Tbh I understand people who are frustrated when these Nintendo "Insiders" have been saying a propper direct is happening this month for past couple of weeks then all of sudden the last 2 weeks of June they all back track or saying "Plans have change".
the moment I saw insiders wavering on the status of the direct i knew something was up.

I'd sure as hell hope 2022 is better than the 2 weakest years for first party software on Switch. Those aren't high bars to clear; even if I think, on balance, the year will be good.

Hardware timing is likely dictated by parts supplies; even if you disbelieve every other source on hardware talk, the Nvidia hack pointed to a new Switch being fairly imminent.

Hardware timing will also dictate the software schedule. Given how Nintendo fumbled several hardware transitions, I'd bet they want to keep Switch engagement high while also ensuring the software pipeline is steady and strong for the next hardware. For me, that means lots of cross-gen games and support.

We could also look at the Lite launch in 2019 as particularly instructive: Nintendo were very aggressive with their software schedule then.

I'm fine with a Partners Direct. There's a good chance we might see Mega Man Match there. I'm excited to see what that will turn out to be.
This is me. The last game remaining from Capcom's leaks remains at large, and I just wanna see what Taisen is, already!

If the game is still slated to be out by the end of the year (Rockman's birthday), then they're running out of time and places to announce it. And I can definitely believe Nintendo wanted to get the "initial reveal premiere" rights, even if it's not 100% exclusive.

The only way I can enjoy a 10 minutes Partners Showcase is if this finally gets its digital release date :

TRC-Turrican_MockUp_CE-Box_3D-_-NSW_1024x1024.png

But it won't happen. It was already a miracle to see the announcement during GamesCom 2020 (almost two years of waiting to get my preorder).
So since it won't happen, this Partners Showcase will most likely suck big time.

things that could conceivably be at a Partner showcase

-yakuza
-persona
-rdr2
-mario rabbids
-literally any 3rd party game you've been waiting for

and y'all disappointed? smdh y'all saying you're gonna be hungry on the way to the all you can eat buffet
not getting that
def not getting that
lol
the only real lock here
given the quality of these partners we're probably getting the exclusive reveal of the Morbius The Game The Movie here or something like that

I feel that there's enough prospective 'partner' announcements that could be made to make it a good direct, even if we stick with what we know about/what is rumoured. A Direct focusing on the likes of Mario + Rabbids, Goldeneye, Persona I would consider to be pretty solid.

Fact is we know Nintendo have their ducks in a row for the next three months with Xenoblade 3 and Splatoon 3 all slotted in (and they could even sprinkle in Bayonetta 3 and Advance Wars around this time as well if they wished), not to mention Pokemon in November. They probably have a couple more surprises but in terms of the major big hitters it does look like we know the majority of what is coming for the rest of 2022. Using third parties to fill in the gaps could work for them if the third party announcements are exciting enough.

If Age of Calamity, a spin-off of one of Nintendo's largest games, using Nintendo's IP, pitched by a Nintendo director and worked on by several of Nintendo's team Zelda employees can be put in a Partner Showcase, you cannot convince me that Bayonetta 3, an IP owned by SEGA and developed by PlatinumGames, with minimal input from Nintendo (if it's similar to 2) is too big of a stretch for a Partner Showcase just because publishing differs for one country.

There's also the "Indie" game from the leaks that is supposed to be followed up the next quarter with ports. Could easily be a Switch timed exclusive or something like Shinsekai.

Oh no I have been hyping too much and looking forward to the Direct since April, so this is a dissapointment for sure. Oh well there's still a direct to watch even if its partner. I expect it to be at least a bit better than the 2020 ones.

For this Partner Mini I think we are going to get the Persona announcements, updates on M+R: SOH, some other 3rd party announcements like maybe Tactics Ogre or even something like RDR2.

What I don't see happening is a Zelda reveal or anything on Metroid Prime HD/4. Zelda just got the delay announcement a few months ago, so more than likely we won't hear anything about it until this fall or maybe next year. The earliest I could see would be the Sep. Direct, but I could also see a TGS showing as well with a blowout in the beginning of the new year like a dedicated direct in Jan. or Feb.

Metroid and Fire Emblem will probably be shown off in a Sept direct or maybe even get their own direct sometime this year. I even think that maybe instead of Zelda at the TGS it could even go to Metroid.

Edit: Concerning hardware I have to agree somewhat with @Raccoon on this, considering that Nintendo is doing a partner mini instead of the usual E3 Direct and that we know they have games to show off and updates to announce. I think there is a strong chance we get a hardware announcement sometime this year.

Once again I think you guys jump to conclusions too fast. PH Brazil said 10am Brazil time 9am est on the 29th and personally i trust him more. Don’t know where the 28th came from when everyone else has been saying the 29th plus the fact this year nintendo is airing directs on Wednesdays typically

Well, so it looks like a Partner Direct then? Hey, as long as Square announces the Final Fantasy I-VI collection for consoles I'll be cool with it.

Honestly, I'm considering jumping on the "new hardware" train for 2022 if they are dragging out first party announcements.

Nintendo hasn’t done anything at TGS for many years. Gamescom is something they normally do and they’re skipping that this year
