I mean, no disrespect to Peer, but you do sometimes get plenty of otherwise well-informed people making slightly batty predictions with Nintendo.
Liam said they do have another game. This didn’t come off as batty to me and I’ve watched tons of predictions videos. This came off as something he would know.

Huh, that'd be interesting. Nintendo did say when they bought NLG they wanted to increase development speed and efficiency... Maybe it ends up being a Punch-Out Wii remaster rather than a completely new project. Or something they've never done before.

I'd be excited for the fans of Punch-Out if it made a return, I don't really care for the franchise itself but I loved Luigi's Mansion 3 so I'm kind of hoping they are working on Luigi's Mansion 4 as well

I have one question for a possible Punch-Out remaster. Do you think Nintendo and NLG would bring back that series in todays climate or make a brand new game in the series where they change the characters?

Well yeah, that's the thing that made me wonder if Nintendo would bother revisiting the series as a whole. A reboot could change the character roster.

I will say, there are only a handful of Punch-Out!! characters that are legitimately unviable. King Hippo tops the list, and Great Tiger also comes to mind. Otherwise, I don't see too much that would cause a stir, though I'm going off of memory alone.

New Punch-Out should be set during Halloween, Coachella etc. where you go around and beat up people dressed up as offensive stereotypes.

I won't be taking any notes.

I'd absolutely love a remaster/remake of Federation Force to be bundled into Prime 4, or released free-to-play to build hype for it. Seems unlikely with a company like Nintendo, but I can hope.
Nobody would be hyped for ff lol. The amount of work that would go to make that game have some potential of sales would probably be larger than making the next 2d metroid.

As for nlg, ill admit that strikers isnt exactly my most wanted project from them and neither is punch out, but if they really managed to release the two id be very happy for the fans at least.

Who would have thought Mike's a Nintendo fan who follows an unreliable leaker?! Life's full of surprises.

I like that idea. It could be a mix between an open-world beat 'em up and classic Punch-Out gameplay.

iirc he was actually talking about the NSO release of Punch-Out but didn't know it was a port of the NES re-release and assumed it was a new edit of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out.
Well, I could see Mike Tyson getting confused with that.

offensive stereotypes: King Hippo, Great Tiger, Doc Louis (sorry Doc), Aran Ryan (maybe?), Popinski (ehh), Bald Bull (I guess)

the concept doesn't need thrown out imo
I guess opinions on this matter will diverge, but I feel the only one that 100% needs to go is King Hippo.

But my preferred approach would be rebuilding the roster from ground zero with wacky characters that don't go for the stereotyping thing.

I was literally just about to say this wow

King Hippo needs wiped from the face of the Earth, while some of the others might be better tempered by additional fighters, like a normal south Asian man

He acknowledged the NSO release in a tweet earlier that day, so I don't think so.

Russia is going to take the beat stick when it comes to being international pariahs for another generation or two after the shit they pulled so you might even get Vodka Drunkski back.

I think that if they announce any new NLG game will not be a game they have made previously, other than Strikers/Luigi Mansion none of their other Nintendo games sold well and Punch-out on the Wii made sense because motion controls, nowadays is harder to justify the style of game. Luigi Mansion 4 is too early imo for it's release

Before Nintendo (and NLG) can even think about what to do with the characters they have to figure out a way to make Punch-Out an appealing product in 202X.
You are right about that. I love the franchise, but its arcade gameplay will not make it as a full-priced console release nowadays.

Wait, a new Punch Out is now a potential thing! What have I missed?
The unearthing of an old Mike Tyson tweet where he says he is disappointed he has heard Nintendo's making a new Punch-Out without him (though it's not fully clear whether he was talking about a completely new game or the coming of the old installments to NSO).

Plus a couple of insiders sounding sure NLG was working on another title alongside Battle League, which implies they have an unannounced title that might be almost ready to go.

I mean no disrespect to Mario Strikers and Punch-Out but those games are pretty small in scope, it's totally reasonable to expect them to be developed together
