Has Nate been confused about the date in the past? He said 28 or 29 (he did say time zone differences could be at play)
I recall Nate being off by one day in regard to the Pac-man 99 announcement. I remember him referring to time zone confusion with the info that he received.

Just playing devils advocate but why wouldn’t we also get rumblings of that hardware being shown very soon? I suppose we still have a couple weeks to go - could still happen

Honestly, if a hardware announcement was imminent, I feel like we would have gotten some more recent leaks at this point. Those things have a tendency to leak out ahead of an official announcement.

Not saying a 2022 Switch Pro is dead, but I think we need some momentum pretty soon on that.

Well when the OLED was announced, leaks on new hardware being announced came out like 2 weeks before the direct.

Wish that were so
I debated wanting to say anything further here, but you know what, I'm just gonna before I leave and ignore the thread

This is a silly, unprofessional reply. Seriously. I post one statement with reasonable doubt due to a rocky record that has other people in doubt and immediately like clockwork a lot of people get angry at me. And then you pretty much snarkily go "wish that were so" because I noted I noped out of reading leaks, when I only made literally one, one post here about them since I joined the site? I dunno, l say it's going well for me since just focusing on a "I'll be surprised if I see the rumored stuff but will just assume everything is not real" mindset was better for my mental health after the whole switch pro thing i literally saved money for based on rumors from last year ended up being a farce. Yet the one time I pop in to check on mayhem and cast doubts due to vagueness being a very easy smokescreen (doubts I'm not alone on, I might add)? Others can disagree, that's fine, and I'm not gonna hang around in these threads to rebuttal stuff, I just wanna focus on other niches I hang out in here, but the fact people have such a hyper defensive reaction for daring to question someone is... pretty concerning. Especially when the head admin of this site just snarkily joins in on brigading

But what do I know, just don't be surprised when some shy away from this thread and think it's a bit weird to deify certain insiders the way this community can at times and then disappoint themselves for getting too invested when things are a bust. Can't expect some folks to not be miffed that "oh yeah it was TOTALLY the 29th all along since before june, i just didn't say it until others said it!" doesn't look odd

Not to brag but I literally joined this thread to help let everyone know Nate’s clues led to last week of June…June-ish. @Dark Cloud dont worry once you saw the hints you were right back on the train! Team June-ish lives

This forum is basically a cult with regards to insiders. Any criticism or questioning is sacrilege and must be stamped out (even though they're wrong all the time).

No one here pointed this out, but someone on ERA pointed out that Kit and Krysta straight up say Nintendo specifically does not want to be associated at all with Summer Game Fest and has their “reasons” for not doing so. Which I guess makes the late June window make sense.

At 12:08 (I don’t know how to timestamp lol)

Nintendo Hates Geoff Theory gets stronger by the day

And Nintendo doesn’t have a long standing relationship with Geoff. They have one with ESA that goes decades back. They’re hand in hand with each other. The only reason they even did anything with Geoff for Game Awards was because of Reggie. Nintendo themselves see no reason to work with him on a larger scale.
I wouldn't say it was all because Reggie, it was because Iwata too. They were friends, and I believe last thing Iwata said to him was "Nintendo will always support you with a TGA Geoff".

I should share the date to make people here feel joy? No.

I sat on the date because it can put partners in jeopardy. My contacts are more important that the small community of never satisfied, constantly angry, pessimistic folks that gather here. If someone else happens to leak the date, I can then confirm the date since the information is out there. There's nothing to protect.

Look at how many latched on to June 15 for the Direct. Did I? Nope. Why? Because it was never that date. If this window was wrong, then, I would have said it didn't match what I was hearing, too.

I've implied "late June" since May.

This forum has had members attack myself and Emily. Do you think we can't just leave or stopped sharing? Test us. You'll lose.

I saw some to think they will announce the date already, no they aren't announcing Direct two weeks in advance, there is no need for it.

This is part of the process too.

I think one of the important things to note here is something you said yourself -- it's comparatively a "small community" of people who constantly rag on any and all insiders. I can't speak on Era as I barely visit these days, but it appears that the vast majority of users on Fami definitely support you and Emily. You're never going to win over everybody unfortunately, but the number of people who get excited by and genuinely appreciate your teases/speculation seem to vastly outweigh the naysayers.

It really all depends on who's well-adjusted enough to have fun on the ride and accept when you might have outdated or incorrect information every once in a blue moon, vs. who's unable to handle any form of disappointment or is prone to misinterpreting your comments and channels that through toxic attitude.

I think the best any of us can do is try to focus on the members here who do actually appreciate the information and work that you do and try to ignore those who don't. I'll admit that there has been a LOT of "fake" insiders over the years surrounding Nintendo and gaming in general. I use to be a journalist for a small blog back in the day and I dealt with a LOT of fake content myself so even I have grown a bit weary and "hard to trust someone" over the years.

That being said, I do trust you. I mean my opinion don't matter in the scheme of thing so I can only offer you my thanks and support for the content you provide and hope that you or other real insiders won't leave the community over those who tend to be more negative.

Gaming has been really slow at least in terms of the types of content that I personally seek out (good core single player experiences) so I often times find myself lingering on forums like this throughout the work week in search of scraps or hints at something exciting to come.

I've been personally known to get negative quite often in the past though would never attack anyone. I think the state of the world with crappy politics, covid-19 and many other things have really left people in a negative state of mind for quite a few years now. I face a lot of depression myself and I find myself often times in this negative space. Really sucks to be honest so I kind of get why others are even more negative. It's a slippery slope and sometimes hard to dig out of.

At any rate, I thank you for your work, I enjoy your podcast and hearing your thoughts on various gaming news and rumors. I hope no one here scares you off and I hope you and others will focus on the positivity that some members offer over the negative ones. Now let's all get excited for some Nintendo gaming goodness in a few weeks. :)

Got an early doctor's appointment tomorrow with my new asthma specialist, so I'm heading to bed. Today was a very exciting day for gaming; thanks to everyone who contributes to making this community a welcoming, extremely fun place to speculate and shitpost. I was so worried when we initially decided to migrate from the old place because I wasn't sure we could ever get all of the great members of NintendoEra onboard, but man it's been quite a ride :)

All this drama and I’m just lying on my bed staring at the ceiling wondering if I’m gonna see my favorite ape get another game announced in this direct. We appreciate you Nate, and the haters will always hate, nag, and moan. Its not easy to predict and get pin point accuracy on a company like Nintendo. Information changes and can become outdated, its understandable to withhold some information for that reason alone.

Relax big dog. We all appreciate you (Those of us that are sane).

I know it’s probably not likely, but I’m still hoping the Prime Remaster turns out to be a remaster for the whole trilogy in a single collection.

I'm fine with standalone releases, but it would be an absolute shame if they didn't do the whole trilogy.

3 weeks separate to not be associated with it at all?

it's like one of those old cartoon gags where one of the characters tries to trap another and takes a comical amount of steps to that effect

then they just escape(Geoff tweet) anyways and render the whole thing moot

same, worse yet I don't want to imagine only prime 1 gets a remaster while 2/3 are left behind

I would like to say regarding the insider thing:
These people are members of the community and have been since before this website even existed. Insiders or otherwise, they're Fami. Healthy skepticism is healthy, but when people start lobbing negativity to the point where we begin seeing posts trashing these people, mocking them, namecalling people who defend them, that's not skepticism. It's hostility.

And okay yeah, I've made jokes about some people who have been labelled "fake" insiders. Maybe I come across a bit hypocritical. But those specific people have actively trashtalked our community on multiple occasions and so I joke about them a little as a way to blow off steam and show support for us. And because I can't help but be a little sassy sometimes.

But as far as some of the stuff I've in this thread, towards active members of this community, I don't think it's cool. If Nate and Emily or anyone else stopped giving teases and info and shifted to just shitposting with us, I'd be just as happy to see them hanging around as I do now. And I think most of us feel the same. We enjoy that they get and give special info not because we deify them, but because they're part of this goofy, warm, ridiculous community. They're in the abyss with us, giving it a dash of their flavor just like the rest of us. They should not have such hostility direct(heh)ed towards them. Because none of us should.

sorry this is probably kinda late and derail-y, it just took me a while to type because I was also eating a quesadilla

There are leaks from China.

Well when the OLED was announced, leaks on new hardware being announced came out like 2 weeks before the direct.
And no one believed it or at least pretended not to believe it. “Imminent” was being thrown around, joked about, and clowning all over the place. Even if Bloomberg has the scoop now, I doubt they would ever report on that again.

Nate and Emily, you both have my respect and appreciation. I'm sorry some people can't be respectful to you two. I don't post much but wanted you to know that I appreciate you both even when you just join the discussions here.

this may come off as hypocritical coming from someone as, um, notoriously unhinged as me, but I think it's really ridiculous to get irate about what people do or don't do with video game information of uncertain veracity that legally they shouldn't even have

leaks are historically a fun little privilege of the most dedicated fans, not an unalienable institution that must be held accountable

if you think this guy is so unreliable that you just have to do something about it, make that something ignoring him. if you're right, eventually everyone will join you. stop trying so vehemently to convince people when it's about something so trivial

Hey I know you don't post much but it's always nice to see when you do.

I mean, regardless of Nate's misses on certain things, which he's always been pretty clear about and generally explains the reason for the false and/or misleading information, he's basically never been wrong on Direct dates. So I'm not sure why people ever doubt him on that

Honestly people who get upset at insiders always seem far more invested in insiders, to me at least, than those who tend to trust them (the reliable ones, anyways). In my experience it's usually a case of "oh I was really invested in this rumor and it didn't pan out so fuck insiders forever they're all liars". Typical culprits for such investment nowadays are Metroid Prime Trilogy and Switch Pro

It's not usually a calm take on a situation, is what I'm getting at. It's an emotional reaction masquerading as logic

and a lot of the time the people getting most upset about these things misinterpreted it to begin with

like the Banjo thing to use a recent example, some people got angry about that not showing up today when if they'd actually paid attention to the rumors they would have known not to expect it as soon as Sarah said everything in the show would be releasing in the next 12 months

Hey I know you don't post much but it's always nice to see when you do.
I'm very quiet even IRL. I've been getting better about talking more over these last few years. Online I'm always second guessing myself if my post is needed or if it'll be misinterpreted and then I'll have to clarify to avoid conflict with others. I have high anxiety and panic attacks so I try to avoid conflicts when I can.

I love this community, and I genuinely care about everyone here.

It's impossible to please everyone, and I don't plan to start anytime soon.
